"R" Day at 30 Days of Holidays

Another day in the 30 Days of Holiday Cards at Beccy's Place and today we use "R."  The letter "R" is pretty easy since there are at least a dozen different things starting with the letter "R" that can be used on holiday cards but I settled for Rubber Stamp (House Mouse), Red, and Rocker card.  The tutorial at Beccy's Place for Rocker cards can be found by clicking on the A - Z Folds at the top of the blog and it's the simplest, quickest Rocker card of any tutorials I've seen for them.  Check it out - it's a simple matter of cutting the bottom (of whatever card you're making) into a curved shape.

I decided on an A2 card (4.25 x 5.5 inches), laid on a horizontal "landscape", and used a paper plate (any plate or bowl would work; I just happened to have a stack of paper plates near the craft desk and grabbed one) to draw around the bottom edge of the card, then I cut it with scissors.  Poof, quick and easy,  By the way, although I did mine as a landscape version of an A2 card, you can cut a curve on the bottom of a vertical A2 and it will rock also.

I stamped the image and colored it with a combination of watercolors and Ohuhu markers.  Once colored, I cut it with a QuicKutz die, then cut the corners with a Uchida corner punch.  I added the sentiment, cut with an Avery Elle die, to the bottom of the image piece.  I chose a red card base, and I've already explained how I made the rocker bottom.  I layered on the image piece and it was finished!

30 Days of Holidays - Letter R

Well, after 2 days of not posting (and not doing much creating, either, due to continuing respiratory problems), I finally finished another card for the 30 Days of Holidays challenges at Beccy's Place.  This time, it's for the letter "R" and I have these on my list: Rocker card, Red, Ribbon, Robin, and Ruby.

My rocker card isn't typical but I tried something I thought would work the same way but be easier to create.  I folded an A2 tent card (fold at top), then used a scalloped die from Little B Dies to cut the bottom of both the front and back of the card.  The scallops allow the card to 'rock' but not to fall over.

The image and the sentiment are from Beccy's and I added highlights with gel pens.  I cut the image using another of the scalloped dies from the Little B set, but I made it slightly oval by cutting the left side, then moving the die and cutting the right side.  I inked the edges using a ProMarker.  The stripes across the top of the card are made using ribbon scraps from my stash.

"R" for Rocker Card

OK, I'm now up to the letter "R" in my cards for the 30 Days of Holidays at Beccy's Place and it stands for Red and Rocker card.  I'm going to pretend that the birds are Robins (both are images from Beccy's and I merged them) and I used wide Ribbon to make the bow.

The rocker shape was cut with a die from Tattered Lace, as was the image itself.  The red snowflake dp is from Recollections.

Reindeer in Training

You may not be aware that Santa has to train new reindeer for a very long time before they can become the next Dancer or Prancer.  Since we're doing "R" as a prompt at Beccy's Place today, I decided on one of her Reindeer images.  Doesn't he look like he's training to pull a full sleigh one day?

I thought it would be fun to do a Rocker card since I haven't done one in at least a year!  The Rocker part is cut with a QuicKutz die.

I colored with ProMarkers and cut the image with a Sizzix scalloped die.  I used Red CS for the upper part of the card and layered the image circle onto it and the Rocker.  I added one tiny snowflake (AI die) onto the card as embellishment and used one of my hand-sewn, satin Ribbon bows (left white this time) to use in the other corner.

I printed the sentiment, hand cut it and matted it with deep Rust CS, then hand cut that, also, before adding it at the bottom of the image.
