Easy Ink Blending

Hi There! Glad you’re back.
The card I am sharing today is for the Altenew Easy Ink Blending Techniques class.  This is one of my favorites because I love, love, love blending.  It doesn’t matter if it’s Copic Markers, Distress Inks, Clear Color Brush Markers, Gansi Tambi water colours, Prisma Color Pencils, or Altenew Crisp Dye Inks, I just love blending and shading colours.   My inspiration for this card was the tropics and Altenew’s Bamboo Rose Stamp Set.  This is a great outline stamp set.  It has so many supporting images like leaves, branches, stems, and butterflies, this is in addition to the 6-7 different rose sizes! You can make a bouquet of roses, stamp them individually, make a trellis of roses, your imagination is the limit!  It also has five greeting/sentiments in a fun font.  I would say, this is another must have; especially, if you love to colour.  From stamping the images on a plain white background with some coloured ink or embossing powder to colouring the images with Crayola Crayons you will love this stamp set!

To make this card I started with a piece of Canson Aquarelle #90 water colour card that was a larger than I knew my card front would be.  I do this because sometimes you get the colours just right and of course you’ll never be able to duplicate that background again...well, there is a way, but we won’t go into that here.   I wanted this card to have a tropical feel, so I chose bold bright colours like pinkish reds, corals, yellows, lime green, and oranges.  I started with the lightest colour first.  I added the lightest colour in random areas on the card stock and progressed to the darkest colours.  I was careful not to overlap the colours too much otherwise you end up with a bunch of earth tones (grays, brown, mud).  After I was satisfied with my ink blended background, I cut it down into a 4 x 5 ¼ card front.  I stamped several sizes of the Bamboo Roses onto my card front using my Versa Mark ink pad and embossed them with white fine detail embossing powder.   In the Easy Ink Blending Techniques class we also learned about quick and easy water colouring.  I used that technique on some of the roses and the leaves; it added a bit of dimension to the images.  I die cut the word hello 3 times, glued them together and attached them to the card front.  I added a layer of Fun Foam to the back of the card front and attached that to the front of an A2 sized tent fold white card base…and card was born!  For more Altenew inspiration, products, and information on classes click HERE.

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2019- Day 24

1 DAY LEFT!

Yes, folks it is Day 24 of Tracey McNeely’s the25 Days of Christmas Tags.  And if you are like me, you are trying to squeeze in a tag between cooking, putting up decorations, and mapping out the plan for the after dinner Black Friday run…lol.   It is late here in Texas, but I am determined to see this hop through til’ the end!  So, let’s get going. Today’s sponsor is Heffy Doodle. This is the first time I have heard them.  Heffy Doodle is based in the UK.  I went to their site, very put-together.  They have select teams like the Instagram Team, the Video Team, the Blog Team and so on.  They also have cute stamps, stand alone dies, card kits, etc. and they will gladly ship to the U.S.

There was so much inspiration from the Heffy Doodle design team, I could hardly make up my mind.  Since it so late and I am just exhausted, I chose to go with something with quick and simple prettiness.  I took my inspiration from Lindsey, click here to see her tag. Lindsey has this abstract bubble snow falling-vertical snow drift going on(my interpretation).   Well, that was something I could do...the abstract imagine this type of tag.   I decided on the cold North Pole Winter Wind Blowing and Ice (lol).

To make my tag, I pulled out my Tim Holtz mini stencils (Set #10, stencil # THMS032).  I used this one because it looks like the winter wind blowing.  I used Distress inks Weathered Wood and Tumbled Glass to make the background.  Once the background was done, I used some double-sided adhesive (Elizabeth Crafts) as well as Elizabeth Crafts Silk Microfine Glitter-642 Cool Diamond and covered the tag.  This is supposed to make it look like ice.  I did the little tag first, then I realized that I did not have enough tag to do what I wanted, so I made the bigger tag and made the smaller tag the companion.  You can see more of the ice and wind on the smaller tag.  Both tag bases are made with Avery Elle Double Stitched Rectangles.  The snowflake cardstock is from my stash (could not find the name).  I used Tim Holtz's Holiday Words: Thin thinlit dies to cut out the message "Let It Snow". The letters on the small tag are from the negative space letters on the large tag.  The letters on the smaller tag are suppose to resemble falling snow (oh yeah, I was going there...).  I punched a whole in the top and added some Silver elastic cord.  Well, folks I gotta get back to preparing for Thanksgiving.  We’ll chat later.    HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE, I am thankful!

Looks like the ice is starting to melt in the sun (lol)

This one looks really icy.

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2019- Day 12

Hello my friends, thank you so much coming back to see me.  We are on day 12 of The 25 Days of Christmas Tags hosted by Tracy McNeely. We are half-way through and I am still hanging in there posting a new tag each day!  There is still time to jump on board and just in case you are interested in doing so; you can click here for the details.  Today’s sponsor is STAMPlorations!

My tag was inspired by Carol from the STAMPlorations design team.  Carol did two cute tags, just click on her name to check them out.  Tag 1-Stitched Snow Hills Reindeer and Tag 2 she called a Majestic Deer.  Both are really, really nice.  I especially liked the Majestic Deer.

My tag was made using the following supplies: Base tag is Craft cardstock cut with an Avery-Elle’s Double Stitched Rectangle Die, I used Basic Grey’s Jovial 6x6 pattern cardstock, and Hampton Arts #SC0712-Reindeer stamp and die set, The sentiment and the background are from the same stamp set.  The back ground is stamp with Versa Mark.  All edges (base tag, deer, and sentiment) are inked with Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink, I used Gina K’s Amalgam ink to stamp the sentiment.  I completed the tag by punching a whole with my Crop-A-Dile, adding a 1/8” black eyelet, and adding some natural Jute.  Note: to make the Reindeer stand out, I cut  him out 2 times in Craft cardstock and once in the patterned cardstock and layered them together.   The sentiment is popped up on foam tape.  I love the rustic feel.  So pleased with this one!   I believe that is it for tonight.  Thanks again for stopping by.

Here is a side view showing the dimension on the Reindeer

Spring Time Letters

Howdy folks!  Droppin' in to share some altered letters I did for one of my scrapping friends.
I used Graphic 45's Sweet Sentiments on the front and back (sorry I forgot to take picture of the back of the letters). I used the B-side of the print you see. The letters are stained with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Stain (wear gloves!!!). The edges are inked with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress inks.  Flowers are Prima frosted roses ( I just love the color), Pearls are Want-2-Scrap, the wooden embellishments are from Michael's, the little phrases were created using my Stampin' UP! label punch, chipboard, cardstock, and my computer.  I think they came out really well, I love the spring time feel.   I am going to enter my altered letters in the following challenges...

Eclectic Ellapu -(purple team) Flora and FaunaNote: EE is also having a DT call, be sure and pop over and check out the qualifications.  She will have the tryouts open until April 1st; good luck to everyone!
