where am i? (again.)

i walked in an eatery last weekend, and was really impressed with the finishes.
can you guess where i am?

hmmm. classic subway tile with dark grout....

white carrara-like countertops with light gray shaker type cabinets...

darker gray walls with ribbed glass inserts...

reclaimed/distressed wood tables, classic metal stools.

fun metal detail on tables.

wood paneled walls...

brown "leather" seats with top stitching and metal legs...

cross hatch/strie laminate tables with geometric print upholstered banquette backs.

HAVE YOU GUESSED YET?
no?
need more pictures??
ok.....

red bar stools and tall tables...

long glass and metal light (i think the glass is made from recycled coke bottles!)

i really loved the details on the inside of the women's bathroom!

ribbed glass...

red penny tile with gray grout...

there was also this fun low kids table area, complete with little stools:

LOVED the ceilings!

have you guessed yet??

ok, how about a wider shot?

and finally-----!
chick fil a!!
who'd a thunk it?
not me.
way to go chick fil a. i am super impressed.

now that you know where i took these, here are a few wider shots of the place:

inspiration is everywhere!!

what do you think?
have you been in any fast food restaurants lately and been pleasantly surprised by the finishes and attention to the design of the interiors?
(i blogged about another fast food resaturant that caught be pleasantly off guard here...)
do nice interiors make you want to eat at a place more often?

bathroom stalker - park city restaurant

i appreciate good design no matter where i find it. but it seems that i find it a lot in bathrooms. (maybe i have bathrooms on the brain lately?)
my latest bathroom beauty is from talisker on main in park city, utah.
(a very amazing pace to eat, by the way!)

let's talk about that wallpaper!

it gives a great graphic punch, but the blue and white scheme makes it feel like and fresh and light.

the bold floral art adds a touch of femininity to the space that is colorful and unexpected.

the classic marble vanity, gold + crystal sconce and classic black/white tile floor add to the fun mix!

the silver gilded/metal wrapped mirror is a bit of a surprise, and works well with everything else in the bath...such a feminine and cheery look!

this would be really easy to replicate on a budget:

hope y'all had a great weekend!

south of the border

guess where i will be the rest of the week?
yep. thats right.
south of the border....
i am getting away for a girls weekend in sunny mexico. yeee-haw!
(a HUGE thank you to my sweet husband, who just may be the worlds greatest dad.
not only does he coach almost all of my kids sports teams, he is the family safety "enthusiast" and is that dad that makes everyone laugh and feel at ease. he is taking off some time from work this week to be mr. mom so i can get away. oh, and on top of that, he has spent 40+ hours over the  last two weekends at our new house/lot doing manual labor. love that man!)

in addition to beautiful beaches, and tons of culture, mexico is also home to some pretty amazing design. take a peek inside the celeste teahouse, located in mexico city, mexico:

aren't you in love with the striped tiles?

another source of fantastic design is the mexico based husband/wife design team behind casamidy.
i have been in LOVE (deeply and madly) with everything that casamidy produces for YEARS now.
i wrote an extensive post on them a while ago, which you can read here, but here are a few of
their gorgeous items that i would love to sell my car to buy:

(oh what i wouldn't give to have one of these hanging in my new house!)

(i'll take 6 of these too!)

 (ok, and this too.)

you can see more here.

adios amigos.
be back soon!
