Craft Room Tour with Claire!

January Craft Room Tour: Claire Hawkins
Hi everyone!
Claire here, and today I am taking part in the Craft Room Tour.
I am based in the UK so I imagine my space is a lot smaller than some of my US and Canadian friends,
but it works for me – all be it, bursting at the seams!!
So, I feel I should first be honest – let’s face it. This is my craft space, and for the last 2 years, has also
doubled as my work space as I now work remotely following the pandemic. As a result, my room is
hardly ever as tidy as it is in these photos lol!

My room is set up in an L shape, with my desk horizontally against the wall, and my shelving unit off
to the left. Both are from Ikea.
One of my favourite items is my We R Memory Keepers Laser Square – I couldn’t function without

this! It shoots red lasers from the top and the side, helping me line up everything perfectly.

I always keep my Cricut, laptop and cutter out on my desk, along with a range of tolls and fussy cut
items from whatever I’ve been working on for ease.
Underneath, I have a small set of drawers filled with tape, tools, punches and acrylic pieces.

My shelving unit houses all sorts. Paper is stored in plastic wallets by collection, with additional loose
sheets stored in Weston Boxes by theme (Woodgrain and travel for example).

My favourite shelf is the one that houses the Novo Drops! It’s organised by colour, but since getting
a few more over Christmas, I may need to rethink this storage idea as the shelf is full!

As you can see, I have some watercolour inks stored at the back. I don’t use these very much but
they’re great for vibrant colour. In one of the other cubes, I house all of my ink sprays, tidies away in
a small set of drawers, although they’re really not in any order.
I also keep a small stock of ink for my printer to make sure I don’t run out – I have been caught out a
few times previously, so tend to keep a spare just in case.

Above that, I have my Duster Ink Brushes and Vicki Boutin Art Crayons. I’ve had these for years and
they are my trusted tool for ink blending and brushing distress oxide to my pages – a favourite
technique of mine.

Above that is some washi tape (rarely used) and a selection of tissue paper which I love to layer
behind my photographs.
My Distress Oxide ink pads and Pinkfresh Studio Watercolors sit on the top of the unit, along with
some Shimmerz products and some loose A4 paper and card which are stored by colour in frames
Weston boxes that act like pull out drawers.

The unit also has four small draws and these are full of scrappy bits and pieces! They hold dies,
chipboard and sequins. The sequin drawers are my favourite. I found this plastic container box full of
small containers perfect for sequin storage (left pic) and I love that I can see everything all at once.
The second pic(right) houses my Pinkfresh Studio jewels and crystals which come in a similar storage
container.

At the bottom of the unit, I store my larger tools. Namely my sewing machine and Cuttlebug. I’d love
to have these out on display all the time but don’t have the space. I’ve found keeping these here still
leaves them easily accessible.

I keep my Thickers in small albums that were very kindly gifted to me by a friend. They are awesome.
Overtime, I have amassed quite a large collection of alpha stickers so I keep any extras in a large
plastic box that lets me flick through them quickly and easily.

Then, there’s my trolley. This started as a mixed media trolley, but as time has gone on it has
evolved to house tools, texture paste, Pixie Powders and puffy phrase stickers.

And finally, those eagle eyed of you will see that my unit also houses my printer…along with a huge
pile of layouts I need to file away – Please tell me I’m not the only one!!

Hope you’ve enjoyed this quick peek at my craft space and it has inspired you with some storage
ideas that may work for you.
Claire xx

Craft Room Tour with Designer Monique!

Hello My Creative Scrapbook friends! It's Monique here with a totally different blog post then you're normally used to see from me! Today I thought I would show you the space where I have been crafting for the last 15 years or so.

I have never had my own craft room and have been scrapping in the annexe of our living room. I have never minded not having a dedicated craft room as I have loved sitting in the same room as my kids while scrapping. When I was scrapping they were doing their homework often at the same table. But now that they have grown up I think I would love a room of my own (and would love to have a less cluttered living room!). As it happens, my daughter has just moved out of the house and into an appartment of her own, so my own craft room is suddenly a very real possibility! But until then I'm still happily scrapping away in the annexe.

Let me show you my little crafting nook in our house:

This is the place where you can find me most of the time. I scrap, work, eat and watch television sitting at this table. It has a view of the garden (forgot to take a photo, I'm sorry) and has two skylights, so it has lots of natural light (which you definitely need living in the Netherlands, where it's so often cloudy!).

When I sit at the table I have a small sidetable behind me where I have my typewriter, sewing machine and Big Shot, all within reach. Below these I have a couple of baskets holding various paper collections and a wire basket holding my Thicker collection.

In a little corner hidden away I have an antique English roll top desk I inherited from my mom:

Here I have another typewriter, electrical this time, lots of containers with pens, a French dish with washi tapes, a stamp holder carousel filled with roller stamps and some other items I love:

Sitting at the table I have two Ikea Kallax units on my left:

These units hold everything I have to have within reach while scrapping, like my case with pens and scissors, a bag with adhesives, a box with ink pads, etc. As I never have enough storage I also have several plastic drawer units on wheels. These I roll near whenever I need them.

This one holds a wire basket on top with travel notebooks, my Project Life cards in the top drawer, my Nuvo materials in the middle drawer and December Daily stuff in the bottom drawer.

On the other side of the annexe (when I sit at the table, on my right side) I have an antique paper cupboard (another heirloom from my mom). Here I store both paper collections (mostly Simple Stories and Bella Blvd) and cardstock:

On the left I have my Canon printers, as I print almost all the photos I scrap myself. Above my printers there's a wire basket holding the most recent Pretty Little Studio collections. On top of the paper cupboard I have a couple of Felicity Jane boxes as I love how these boxes look (one box holds four collections).

Behind the paper cupboard there's an Ikea drawer unit:

Here I store stamps and dies:

How I love to collect stamps! Now I just have to start using them!

Because the annexe is not large enough to hold all of my crafting stuff, I have more places in the living room where I store my crafting treasures. This corner is situated just before you enter the annexe:

Here you find another cupboard with drawers and more plastic drawer units on wheels.
Almost all of the wooden drawers are filled with Doodlebug products:

One of the drawers holds something else though: my inks:

On top of the cupboard I've another wire basket filled with paper collections (mostly Amy Tangerine) and on the little hooks I have more Doodlebug products. Not all of them as I'm worried their color will fade with the skylights above.

In the plastic roller units I have my DT stuff for My Creative Scrapbook and Pretty Little Studio. On top more Felicity Jane boxes and more stamps, mostly from Heidi Swapp.

This concludes my tour of my craft room. As you can see I love antique furniture and this makes me realise I forgot to show you my antique type writers! Next time I hope!

Hope you liked it! When I move into my own craft room I'll do another tour for you (if you wish).

Wishing you a wonderful week!
Hugs,
Monique
