Special Ramadan Deal for Orange Users!

Special Offer -- Repeat of the Orange Deal for the Muslim month of Ramadan -- Jews can get it on the deal too, if they act now! (Ramadan started yesterday).

If you're an Orange(tm) mobile phone user in Israel, there's a super secret phone offer for the "Arab sector" that can be used by anyone who happens to find out about it (hence, this special notification from Jameel at the Muqata) .

If you call the number *8080 from your Orange cellphone, you will be connected to an Arabic language voice menu. Press 7, wait about 10 seconds, and then press 1 (listen for the word "wachad" (or "1" in Arabic)

You will receive an SMS from Orange for 2000 free SMS messages! Last time, this only applied between the nighttime (Ramadan party hours) hours of 9:30 PM and 5:00 AM...however I believe this time, its to all Israeli cellphones at all hours of the day. (I'm still checking). Note: It can take up to an hour to receive the SMS from Orange...I guess this post is working to ensure everyone can take advantage of the Ramadan offer :-)

I have personally validated this!

Don't thank me, I'm a giver....

TOP SECRET Information for Israeli Consumers!

Muqata Exclusive: TOP SECRET Information for Israeli Consumers

Sick and tired of waiting for customer support to answer your call? (Yes, Israeli "Customer Support" used to be an oxymoron, but things have slightly improved).

The following table lists the top service companies in Israel...with the secret access codes of how to cut through the waiting time, and get DIRECTLY to customer support people who will answer your call immediately. These codes are used by customer service reps in the field, when they need to quickly get in touch with a real person.

Or in the words of my friend Treppenwitz, "Don't thank me, I'm a giver."

Orange Ends Ramadan Signup for Special offer

My scoop was reported everywhere, about the free 2000 Ramadan minutes deal for Orange to Orange cellphones in Israel.

Arutz Sheva was even nice enough to give me credit....as did Carl, Janglo and others.

Facebook was abuzz with the deal.

However, ynet claims because THEY advertised the Orange super secret Ramadan offer, that Orange was swamped with requests, and because of YNET (hear them cheer), Orange ended registration for their special deal.

Sheesh.

Orange Phone Ramadan Offer Update

Important Update:

The 2000 free minutes Ramadan offer is between the nighttime (Ramadan party hours) hours of 9:30 PM and 6:00 AM -- and are only from Orange to Orange phones (within the Orange network). The free minutes are NOT to every single Israeli destination.

Not as amazing as being able to call every single number in Israel, but still impressive...

However, the NFC (news first class, news 1) website has an additional scoop about Orange's targeted advertising offers for the "Arab sector".

If you're an Arab and newly engaged, you're entitled to a package of 1500 talk minutes per month, at 9 agorot a minute.

Special Muqata offer for Orange Phone Users (Israel)

Special Muqata Offer -- for RAMADAN! (This month only -- as Ramadan started Friday...) [See Update Below]

If you're an Orange(tm) mobile phone user in Israel, there's a super secret phone offer for the "Arab sector" that can be used by anyone who happens to find out about it (hence, this special notification from Jameel at the Muqata) .

If you send the text message "ramadan" to 999 by SMS, you're eligible for 2000 free minutes between the nighttime (Ramadan party hours) hours of 9:30 PM and 5:00 AM.

Based on the hours my kids have been keeping this summer, this should save us a lot of money.

Don't thank me, I'm a giver....
Update: The 2000 free minutes are apparently only within the Orange network and not to all Israeli numbers.
More details to follow...

Chomesh, First!

Hearing Yedidya Lerner's voice on IDF Radio today after the 12:00 PM news was the most uplifting and exhilarating message I could have asked for.

Not many people know Yedidya Lerner, but he used to live in Chomesh. In the days leading up to the destruction of Chomesh in the Disengagement, I lived on Yedidya's front lawn in a tent, along with 12 other tents. We had shifts to help out in the Lerner's home; washing dishes, cleaning the toilets and washing the floor) as dozens of people camped out on their front lawn.

I remember connecting my laptop to their phone line and gained meager dial-up access to read about the Disenagegment on other blogs...and how infuriated I was at the general apathy (to outright support) for the Disengagement. If anything caused me to start blogging; it was there and then.

Today, a year and half later, I heard Yedidya's voice on the radio. He had already made it back to Chomesh, to the ruins of his home on the hill. He said very clearly that he would not confront the IDF, and that he was hopeful for the long run that eventually, he would rebuild his home in Chomesh. He had already visited Chomesh this past Chanuka, and was back now. He said, "maybe we'll be removed from here tonight or tomorrow, but we will keep returning, and will rebuild."

As I type this, I keep getting SMS messages from my blog-friend Elchonon, who is updating me minute by minute of his progress.

Starting the "march" from the closest settlement to Chomesh, Shavei Shomron, he reports that hundreds and hundreds of people are marching towards Chomesh...families pushing strollers with babies...teenagers with backpacks and sleeping bags, old and young wearing orange streamers and shirts that say, "Chomesh First" (A take-off of the Failed Oslo Accord plan, "Jericho and Gaza First"), as they hope that this march will be the awakening to restart the settlement in Chomesh.

As Yedidya Lerner stated; we aren't fooling ourselves, and we may not make it this time...but we will keep coming back.

Perseverance is the key.

More details to be posted as they come in. Please Note: The IDF is securing the road to Chomesh from Shavei Shomron, and there is no confrontation between the marchers and IDF forces. Which is exactly how it should be.
