Hamas Founder's Son: "A Palestinian state will bring war to the region"

The "Green Prince" known by his real name as Mosab Hassan Yousef, the oldest son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a founder and leader of the terrorist organization Hamas -- addressed Chabad in South Florida last week:
During his visit to South Florida, the 33-year-old Yousef spoke last Wednesday to more than 500 people during an appearance in Weston sponsored by the Chabad of Weston and the Daniel Cantor Wultz Foundation. On Thursday, he addressed two Chabad of Downtown audiences in Miami.

Yousef, who was born in Ramallah in the West Bank, said Israeli soldiers severely beat him when he was 17-years-old. Soon afterward he was contacted by the Shin Bet to spy for Israel and imprisoned for 16 months to "not arouse suspicion."

He said during his time in prison he saw Palestinians torturing other Palestinians. Hamas wanted to know who gave information to the Israelis, Yousef said. Hundreds were tortured and 16 were killed. Not one had a relationship with Israel, he said.

Yousef said he asked himself, "What is the difference between Israeli soldiers and the Hamas military wing?" He said, "For the first time I started to question the reality of the movement my father established."

Yousef said he eventually came to see that Israel was not the enemy. "We are the enemies of ourselves," he said. "Our leaders sent us to death for their own reasons and they still do. They care about their bank accounts and their positions. They lie to you on a daily basis for their selfish gain."

During a question and answer session following his talk in Weston, Yousef said, "There should have been a Palestinian state 50 years ago if the Palestinians wanted a state." Instead, he said, "they wanted to destroy Israel."

The establishment of a Palestinian state now will "destroy the dreams of the Palestinian people. They think they will be free. A Palestinian state will bring war to the region and the Palestinians will be the first to pay that price."

Senior Hamas Leader Sits Shiva For Son, "The Green Prince"

Last week, we blogged about the "Green Prince" -- the son of a senior Hamas terrorist who became an informer for Israel's Shabak Secret Service, saved the lives of countless Jews, converted to Christianity, and moved to California.

Outraged at the Muqata Blog's publicity, Senior Hamas Terrorist Sheikh Hassan has publicly disowned his son.
Hamas Web sites published a letter Monday by Sheikh Hassan that the militant group said was smuggled out of the Israeli prison where he is serving a six-year sentence.

In the letter, he said his family announced its "complete renunciation of the one who was once our eldest son, who is called Mosab." The father said though he was sorry to take such, he had no choice after his son "disbelieved in God...and collaborated with our enemies." (Haaretz)
The Muqata's story was featured by the BBC's Blog World -- maybe that had something to do with Sheikh Hassan disowning his son?

Jameel writing on the Muqata blog comments on this week's fascinating story of the son of one of Hamas' founders. Known as "The Green Prince," Mosab Yousef has worked for some time as an informer for the Israeli authorities. The author suggests Yousef's allegiances should be an example to some prominent Israelis.

Makes you wonder how a Gazan-born Muslim, son of the founder and leader of a fundamentalist terror organization managed to orient his moral compass towards helping Israel, yet Ehud Barak and other Israelis are sure that in the same situation, they would have joined a terror organization.

**sitting "shiva" is the Jewish custom for mourning the dead. It's also customary when a parent disowns their child for marrying outside the Jewish faith.

The Green Prince

Haaretz has the exclusive story about an "informant", Mosab Hassan Yousef -- the son of the founder of Hamas, Sheikh Hassan Yousef.(You can find more on Fox News).

Known as "The Green Prince," Mosab Yousef was perhaps the most valuable intelligence asset of Israel's "Shabak" security forces, as he infiltrated the upper echelons of Hamas and the Palestinian terrorist organizations -- he was responsible for literally savings the lives of countless Israelis.
And he didn't do it for money. He converted to Christianity, and out of a deep moral conviction, he believed that helping Israel was the correct thing to do. (He could probably teach Goldstone a thing or two).
Read the entire article -- just the paragraph alone will give you a feel for this guy:
"I wish I were in Gaza now," Yousef said by phone from California, "I would put on an army uniform and join Israel's special forces in order to liberate Gilad Shalit. If I were there, I could help. We wasted so many years with investigations and arrests to capture the very terrorists that they now want to release in return for Shalit. That must not be done."
Truly a Prince...acting with moral conviction amidst a sea of terrorist swine.
An interesting juxtaposition is that about 10 years ago Haaretz reporter Gidon Levy interviewed Ehud Barak:
Haaretz journalist Gideon Levy had asked him [Ehud Barak] then, as a candidate for prime minister, what he would do had he been born Palestinian and Barak replied frankly: "I would join a terror organization." (Haaretz)

Yossi Sarid's students said the same thing:
This week I spoke with my students about the Gaza war, in the context of a class on national security. One student, who had expressed rather conservative, accepted opinions - that is opinions tending slightly to the right - succeeded in surprising me. Without any provocation on my part, he opened his heart and confessed: "If I were a young Palestinian," he said, "I'd fight the Jews fiercely, even by means of terror. Anyone who says anything different is telling you lies." (Haaretz)
Makes you wonder how a Gazan-born Muslim, son of the founder and leader of a fundamentalist terror organization managed to orient his moral compass towards helping Israel, yet Ehud Barak and other Israelis are sure that in the same situation, they would have joined a terror organization.
I guess that explains how the Expulsion from Gush Katif happened. When one lacks a moral compass, everything can be rationalized for the sake of "security."
