Saturday Bloggers Boogie - The Live Edition

Little White Dove

Three more sleeps until I take my biggest boy off to his first ever concert!  He turns 14 on Tuesday, and I bought tickets months ago to see Coldplay.  He still has no idea what we are doing - I've spun a tale about taking him out for dinner because Chelsea and Cadyn both has basketball training -he's bought it so far!

So in light of this momentous occasion, I thought I would share some songs from a few of the fabulous concerts I have been to!  I've just been racking my brain trying to remember ALL of the live shows I've seen, and have been surprised (and a little embarrassed) by some I had forgotten about!  I'm going to attempt to give them one to two word ratings/descriptions......

Wa Wa Nee - Keyboard Guitar
Noiseworks - Sweaty
Prince - Amaze-balls
The Cure - 90's Emo
Janet Jackson - Pre-boob-gate
U2 - Unreal
Michael Jackson - Shit sound
Chocolate Starfish - Pub Greatness
Alex Lloyd - Man-can-sing
Joe Cocker - Soul Man
John Farnham - Mum-loved-it
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Mad Hatters
Robbie Williams - NomNomNom
Kylie - Fabulouso
Whitney Houston - Disappointing
Beyonce - Crazy Good
Powderfinger - Awesome
John Williamson - Surprisingly Enjoyable

And here's my top five picks!

This is the only artist I've seen TWICE - nuff said.

Saw them at Waverley Park before they stopped using it for footy games.  Amazing.

Spent a Day on The Green with my parents and in-laws drinking vino and listening to this great man's talent.  Fab day!

This woman was AMAZING in concert!  How she manages to sing, dance and not have a wardrobe malfunction is beyond me!

Watched this unreal Aussie band in a freezing cold, mud pit tent up in the country for their farewell tour!  Although I left with frostbite, it was worth it!

So there you go - that's who I've seen live - how about you?

Saturday Night Boogie.......on a Sunday! M.C.'s Choice.

Little White Dove

The husband and I went out last night......which is a whole different post entirely.....and I didn't get around to sorting my music in time!  I did a whole lot of music purchasing for one of the delightful residents I care for in my day job, and had a little giggle yesterday whilst sewing and shuffling iTunes when a few of his songs randomly came on.  So without any further delay - here are my music picks for this week!

This gorgeous song is M.C.'s all time favourite.  His Mum used to sing it to him!

Forgot how much I love this song until yesterday.  Sung it loud and proud!

Nearly wet my pants when this one came on!  Can't say I have ever, ever owned an ABBA tune!

Not your finest hour Kyles....

Another song you don't really expect to pop up!  Yothu Yindi really did bring it back then!

So that's it!  Some of the tunes that have inadvertently made it on to my itunes playlist.

Do you ever have random tunes pop up unexpectantly??

Saturday Night Boogie - Kid's Edition

I have been a good cricket wife this evening and spent time down at the club with the husband and kids.  It really does not get any easier.  This will be my 11th season as a "cricket widow" and it still sucks the big one.  Anyway, I'm home now - so what better way to spend the remainder of my Saturday evening than looking up Youtube clips???  That's right - I'm linking up with Little White Dove's Saturday Night Bloggers Boogie!  Tonight is brought to you by - my children.  Yep - the songs that are loved by them......

I'm sorry.  I really am.  Because if you play this you may very well have it stuck in your head for days.  Like Me.  A strange thing happened this week.  Mr Psy (yep, that's his name) was on X Factor here in Australia and I kacked myself through his whole performance.  I could actually see that he didn't take himself too seriously, which appeals to me.  The film clip is even funnier.  My kids love it.

This delightful little fella won X Factor last year.  I love the gap in his teeth.  I have a feeling that one day Chelsea will admit to loving him too - for now she will just say she likes the song!

Chloe LOVES this song!  (So do I ssshhhh).  We were in the car a while back and I asked her who sung this song, and she replied "Maybe".  We went back and forth a bit and then the chorus came on and Chloe yells "See Mum, I told you her name was Maybe"........

One of Chelsea's all time fav's.  This tune was on repeat a couple of years ago, after Chelsea decided she would sing it for her school's version of "Australian Idol".  She knocked it out of the park school!

And that's all I've got for you right now - basically because all the kids are asleep and I can't ask them for the fifth!!

I hope you're all enjoying your weekend?

Day 6 - With Added Boogie

The dancing kind of boogie - not the one you find up your nose!  Another Saturday night spent sitting at home, so why not put my thinking cap on and share some tunes?  I thought I would make it my Most Often Played list.  That is - what's been on repeat in my house lately!

I don't have this live version on iTunes, but this is the perfect version to show just how amazing Florence's voice is!  Nine year old Chelsea sits in front of the computer with her lyrics and belts it out over and over again....love it.

So I'm going to see Coldplay in exactly one month's time!  Got the tickets months ago, and as it happens, they are playing on Lochie's 14th birthday, so I'm taking him!  But he doesn't know.....ssssshhhhhhhhh.  He's SOOO in to music and has been dying to go to a concert, so this will be his first ever.  I hope he's excited and thoroughly enjoys it.  And doesn't die of embarassment that his Mother will be rocking out next to him!  Love love love this song - I'm a bit partial to a bit of Rhianna.....

Just realised as I uploaded this that Guy will have scored two from two with my Boogie blog posts!  But what can I say?  I LOVE this song!  I LOVE the artist that he has become.  And I LOVE that he seems like a really nice guy!

Another song that gets a belting.  We were lucky enough to see The Temper Trap Live at the AFL grand final a few weeks ago - and they were UH-MAZING.  And just to add to the excitement of November - they are the support act for Coldplay.  Lucky me!

I only really got in to The Fray the last year or so, but LOVE them too!  This is one of my fav's of theirs.

Little White Dove

And just quickly - Day 6 of Kids Week Challenge....

A gorgeous Oliver + S bucket hat, made for a special little boy's 4th birthday tomorrow!  It's a free tutorial - so if you want to give a hat a go - head over HERE!

What's everyone else up to on this lazy Saturday night?  And what are you listening to over and over again lately??

Saturday Night Boogey - The Wedding Edition

Little White Dove
Good evening!  I still feel like shit and have been plodding around home all day feeling sorry for myself.  I feel like I have run a marathon and each and every muscle in my body is aching because of it.  Unfortunately I do not run marathons, so cannot use that excuse.  It's a stoopid virus.  So, instead of being at work tonight as was scheduled, I'm surfing the net.  And I've just come across the Saturday Night Bloggers Boogey over at Little White Dove!

Tonight, in my boogey debut, I bring you MY Wedding Edition.....

My now big boy Lochie walked me across the lawn to Andrew, at the tender age of 5, and gave me away!  All to the tunes of Fro-boy Guy.... Remember Australian Idol?

I actually heard this song on The Today Show one morning when they put on a whole wedding for a young couple on a boat!  Fell in love with it, so had it as one of the songs playing whilst we signed our marriage certificates.  Nice.

Our first dance.  Under a gorgeous white marquee with ivy and fairy lights, in our backyard.  I have the most beautiful photo from that dance.

I can't remember if this was actually played at our wedding......it was New Year's Eve after all.  But - this song was HUGE when I first met Andrew and it was a bit of an awkward song to have playing loudly in the car, sitting next to a guy you'd just met!  Couldn't really sing out loud......

Look how young Joel and Benji are!!!  I still love this song, it was big in 2003 when we got married, and once again - the vodka haze doesn't help my memory - but I'm certain we would have rocked out to this tune too!

So there's my wedding tunes in a nutshell!  What I love most about these songs is that I do actually remember the three most important of them!!  And I love that Andrew and I chose all three for good reason.  An interesting but useless fact is that the song my ex-husband and I danced to at our wedding back in the 1990's was chosen spare of the moment because we basically had no "special" song of significance!  I can't even remember the name of it - was sort of a sign really wasn't it?

What were your wedding songs?  Or if you were to get married, which songs would you choose?
