100th day fun!

Oh man! This was my first year to dress the part as a 100 year old! It was so fun!
This is a coworker's son! I just loved the worms! He is his daddy's boy!
My favorite craft for the 100th day!

This girl just kept on writing, and writing, and writing! I LOVE IT!
My principal broke her knee and fit the part with the wheel chair! We make some pretty good old folks don't we!

Who would have know putting numbers in order would have been so fun for them!

100th Day Fun!

Oh! My! Gosh! That is all I can say about today!
First, it's a Monday (insert unplesant feeling here).
Second, it's the 100th day of school. (Take away any thoughts of a normal schedule here).
Third, it's Ground Hog's Day (scramble to throw in a mini lesson or short video).
Fourth.......as predicted based on classroom mood and atmosphere.....tonight is a full moon.
(Continue with thoughts of drowning all day.)

As a teacher, I almost pride myself in being able to predict moon patterns and weather forecasts, lol!

Having said that, it was actually a successful day!  We started with a few 100th day puzzles and dice games.  Then wrote 100 words. Shockingly they LOVED this activity! (Probably because they got to wander with clip boards and talk.....loudly.....while i turned the other cheek. (I don't want to be the quite police all the time!)
My favorite thing was the Hershey's Kisses scavenger hunt. You would have thought I gave them all a $100 or a cell phone! They were so excited!

After we found all the kisses we checked them off on our 100's chart to see if we weren't missing any.

This is always an interesting activity for the kids....they can't wait to tell me what they wouldn't want!

Next we get the digits for 100 and create something!

I was so impressed with the stories this year!

This is the solar system!
I really have some writers this year!  Can't wait to do some more things with them!

Busy little bees!

We have been moving fast this semester! We will start with MLK Jr.  My kids loved making these simple MLK Jr. crafts!  It was super easy and quick since I already had the face cut outs and eye cut outs as well!
I love the handle bar moustache! HAHA!

Then we covered Landforms and Bodies of Water

We were kinda fast and furious with this topic so we just made our own maps and labeled the landforms.

Last Tuesday was our 100th day of school and we had a great time!  I made a bunch of 100's chart puzzles for the kiddos to do and hid 100 Hersey's Kisses in the classroom that we hunted down.  We couldn't find #43 for the longest time.  Finally as I was wrapping things up with the whole group at the carpet one of the boys jumped up and RAN over to the paper towel holder and found the sneaking thing on the handle of the paper towel dispenser.  It was pretty amusing to watch his face light up :)

My favorite Pinterest find from last year is the 100 digit creation!  This year now that I am back in First Grade I had to step up the rigor just a bit!  We wrote a story about our 100th day creation.

I bet you wouldn't have guessed this one was written by a girl, lol!

Better Late Than Never!

Ok, I know some of these are SUPER late but I still want to share what we have done so far!!!

Today I introduced my super fun rodeo/cowboy workstations!  I was so proud of my kiddos for working through them.  We are covering measurement in math right now so there is a few different kinds of measurement activities in there.  You can check out my Rodeo/cowboy unit on my TpT page.

Now....I want to share with you some of our writing that we have been doing with our past units as well.  I know this is like 3 posts in one.... Sorry :/

We did a dental Unit and my kids made these adorable Tooth Fairy glyphs with writing.  Some of them were so creative!  My favorite little boy said he would go to space and get alien teeth too!

Now, marshmallow fun!  I had at least 10 bags of marshmallows leftover from Christmas and didn't know what to do so we played a little game I saw on Pinterest (of course)....

I actually felt crummy on this day and in my sweetest teacher voice passed it out and said start over after you fill up your mouth and leave me alone for a couple minutes....hehe.  And to my surprise, they did!  They loved playing with the marshmallows and I had 15 minutes of semi-cotrolled quietness.  AND no one ate any!!! I know right!

Ok....Lastly, this is for all the parents out there!  We really enjoyed having a 100th day parade!

The class was so excited because we got to walk through 5th grade classrooms and be on the morning TV show infront of the whole school!  My kiddos and parents worked so hard on their projects!  I was super proud!
