Celebrate National Scrapbooking Day With Mountain Plains Crafters!

We're so excited to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day at Mountain Plains Crafters.  All the action is happening on our Community Facebook page here:

We have a wonderful prize sponsored by Lawn Fawn, a stamp set of your choosing!  How awesome is that?  You get to pick the prize!  So what do you have to do to qualify?  First, be sure you "like" us on our Facebook page, then head over to Lawn Fawn on FB and tell them MPC sent you (not required but they'd love to hear from you!)

Be sure and comment on one or all of our trivia questions throughout the weekend.  Please only comment once per question, however each question you answer, earns you an entry!  Our design team has chosen the theme, "Creating with Paper Bags".  Yes, we're doing a little upcycling and making fun things with paper bags.  Be sure and visit their blogs below and show a little love.
Check in throughout the day Saturday and Sunday, answer the questions and we'll announce a winner on Monday.  The contest ends Sunday, May 3rd at midnight ET.   OPEN TO INTERNATIONAL! YES!

Happy NSD!  I've made a set of ATC cards for those of you who scrapbook "Project Life" style with pocket scrapping.  My theme is Garden and each one is different, but they are all made using paper bags (even the quilled flowers!)  So check out my blog if you'd like more details, by clicking on my name:

Happy National Scrapbooking Day to everyone !! I have been wanting to start journaling, so what better time than NOW !!  Small lunch sacks were the perfect paper for me to use because it gives me a great medium to emboss, distress, color on, paint etc.without adding too much thickness to a journal... One of my favorite papers is Kraft so this was a great theme for me. Check out my BLOG for some of the other pages I made..

I made assorted paper bag flowers! Check it out on my blog!

I made a paper bag album. It was a lot more work than I expected but I love how it turned out.

I made a paper bag album for my nephew.  These take such a long time but are so much fun to make.  Come check out my blog to see more pages.  Happy National Scrapbooking Day!

Over-sized Shaker card

This cute shaker card was made from the plastic packaging from an embossing folder.  Some crafters make shaker cards look so easy but for me, I tend to struggle with it.  Totally not my thing!  But I really wanted to give this a shot.  I think it turned out alright.  What do you think?

Fall Leaves and Friendship

Hi there everyone; Jennifer here to share the details of the fall card I created for our Fall Card Challenge. You have until September 29th to enter, so I expect to see lots and lots of pretty fall colors!

When I think fall, I envision pumpkin spice lattes, sweaters, boots, and leaves going crunch under my feet. One of the joys of living in the Northeast is that we actually get all 4 seasons, and leaf peeping is one of them! With that in mind, I set to work and came up with this:

Here's the layer breakdown:
Base - kraft paper
Background - my own creation with Distress Paints and watercolor paper. Colors used: Fired Brick, Wild Honey, Rusty Hinge, Forest Moss and Spiced Marmalade.
Sentiment layer - natural ivory linen, Unity Stamp Co. sentiment from a Stamp of the Week in Memento Espresso ink.
Leaves - these were FUN and MESSY! Vellum embossed with a crackle embossing folder from Darice, die cut with the Tim Holtz Textured Leaves die, and rubbed with the mini Distress Inks in Barn Door, Squeezed Lemonade, Olive, and Spiced Marmalade. I tacked them down with my Tombow Mono glue by 'hiding' the glue drops with the inked bits of the leaves and the twine bow up top.
Final touches - twine bow and a scattering of Pretty Pink Posh 4mm sequins in Sand and Forest Moss.

I tacked the leaves down to the ivory linen paper, the linen paper to the background paper, and then used 3D foam tape to attach the whole shebang to the kraft base card. Add on the bow and the sequins and this baby was done!

I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with for the contest!
