卡拉永遠 OK!
Last Sunday was a very exciting and busy day for me and my NTU friends here.
We went to a super duper high-class atas mall to watch a movie! How atas is this mall, I hear you ask? Well, it looks more posh than Paragon. And the toilets provide hand towels and a waiting area with plush seats and magazines and mentos (which I nicked two of).

Our movie of choice was Watchmen, which is a comic-book-turned-movie about superheroes. It was not bad. Didn't feel long even though it was close to three hours, unlike another three-hour movie that I watched recently (*ahem*AUSTRALIA*ahem).
The theatre that we went to is named The Grand Cinema. It reminds me of The Cathay. The selling point of this cinema is its vibrating seats. Yes, seats that vibrate at certain parts of the movie. But in the end it was quite a disappointment because the vibration thing seems to respond to sound, so it will only vibrate at the loud parts, not the exciting ones.

Beside the Grand Cinema's ticketing booth. There's a restaurant there called Wild Ginger. It shares the name of a restaurant near my house in Singapore which I miss.
We paid about S$10 for the movie ticket. According to my friends this is the normal weekend price at other theatres with non-vibrating seats.
After the movie, we headed back to the hostel restaurant for dinner and some rest. I tried to sleep for an hour but couldn't.
And then, it was time.
Me and two other Singaporean friends, Sara-Jean and Sheryl, left our hostel at 11.30 pm. We took a bus to a ktv at Jordan Road, which is a few MTR stations away.
On the way there I felt a bit uneasy because for the first time in two months, Hong Kong was still and quiet. There were only a few people on the streets. No cars in sight. Usually the streets are bustling with honking cars and hordes of people. That takes getting used to.
After a bit of searching, we managed to find the place. And so began 5.5 hours of non-stop overnight KTV. My first time!
The three of us had more than enough songs to fill up the time. Overnight KTV-ing requires some strategy. To ensure that you stay perky, you have to start with the slow and emo songs, build up to the high songs, and then alternate between the two until the end. So we did the obligatory 搞笑 songs like those by 草蜢 to keep ourselves awake.

Our room had this repeating motif on all of the walls. I like it.
Look at how happy my companions are.
It was really fun, but also very tiring. Fun because you get to sing for more than three hours for once (HK's KTVs all set time limits according to how many people you have, and we usually get three hours).
Egg McMuffin breakfast (Only S$3.70. McDonald's is cheaper here but some of the portions, esp. for fries, seem smaller) at 6 am.
And the climax of it all? We got 3 drinks (the usual is 2 but I exercised my auntie spirit and printed out a free drink coupon) and five and a half hours of singing (12 am till close @ 5.45 am) for...
~S$12.
With this, I leave you fuming and foaming at the mouth with the injustice of it all.
Love you, my lovelies! Toodles!
