I am supposed to be in bed now. But since my tagboard is so sadly dead (which isn't a good sign since that means my blog is getting boring), I decided to attempt, once again, to bring my blog and also my tagboard back to life. And since I have a topic to blog about, here I am.

Five minutes or so ago, I decided that caps are the worst invention in the world. They always, always get lost and there is no way to replace them if you can't find them. Also, most things with caps do not work well without the bloody caps. It doesn't matter what they are-bottlecaps, thumb drive caps, whatever. They seem to lose their functionality the MOMENT u lose the bloody caps. People should stop inventing/making things with caps or if they really need to, invent a cap-detector to go with the product.

I seem to have extraordinarily bad luck with caps. Just four days ago, I lost the cap of my water bottle (it rolled under the cupboards behind the classroom in the DMS.) and had to throw the bottle away. Luckily it was just another common drink bottle. 15 minutes ago, I lost my thumb drive cap. I just flung it somewhere before I stuck the thumb drive into my laptop, and now I can't find it. It's probably lying around somewhere on my table or on the floor, but I can't find it and it is SO ANNOYING. I will lose sleep over this. I will keep thinking about how the important files in the thumb drive will be lost if it spoils (then I will lose my backup files). So, in a vain attempt to try to make the thumb drive last as long as possible without a cap until I manage to find it somehow, I have used my iPod shuffle's extra cap to replace it.

However, it somehow just doesn't go with the thumb drive. My thumb drive has lost whatever appeal it once had. It looks like a bloody robot.

Bah. Wish me luck. Hope I find the blinkin' cap soon.

The past week has been pretty hectic. Doing the story outline for my Feature Writing CA, getting on with our MMR project, doing the birthday video for Grace...I really should work harder at time management. I mean, it's not even project rush hour yet and I'm already so super sleep-deprived. Don't think I've had the full 8 hours of sleep on any day for the past five days.

Anyway, I decided to blog because I haven't updated in such a long time and I've just finished reading all the blogs I usually read (must catch up cos haven't been reading for almost 1 week. Was surprised at how much could happen in a week.) and discovered that a lot of those blogs which are usually not updated often, have been updated several times while my blog has remained "outdated" for quite some time now. Yep, so here I am. Just a quick one so that I can hit the sack ASAP. Developing a bloody headache.

For some reason my mind has been super buzzing and full of ideas these few days. Ideas seem to come extra quickly and by the truckloads but I can't write them down cos I don't bring pieces of paper with me and I'm too tired to bother. Even when I'm really tired and want to sleep, my mind keeps right on buzzing and wondering about how I could write my Feature Writing CA, how I could do the 90-second trailer for DMA, and other story ideas for feature articles. Accelerated brain power is good, but sleep is better.

Here's a shoutout to Grace-Happy 20th! Really hope you enjoyed the video we made. Cheryl-yes we make a pretty good team =) .

Oh yes, and thank you Grace, for the wonderful dinner at Nooch (I had black pepper beef ramen. Nice, but the taste is nothing really special.). Had a nice chat with Cheryl, Grace and Grace's pals. I love our intelligent conversations, too. And the fact that we all met because of FOP. Ok I think I really gotta go now. More tomorrow (maybe).

By next Tuesday, I am supposed to have made a powerpoint presentation showing the story outline of a life-changing event (my life, of course) for an impending CA for Feature Writing.

The problem is, I have not had a life-changing event. None that are serious enough to "change my perspective of life and of others around you", and none that I still can recall vividly how I felt at the time (not that I would want to go back there anyway).

I have no intention of doing anything but my level best for this first CA, but how do I do well when I cannot think of the material for the article? How annoying. I would go through my blog archives and try to look for one, but if it really is a life-changing event, would I need a blog entry to remind me of it? Nevertheless, it seems to be my only choice. So go ahead I shall, in case I really have something that can qualify as a life-changing event somewhere in those precious archives that my feeble memory did not retain. *crosses fingers* May I get some inspiration soon.

Moving on. I just HAVE to blog about today's ConB lecture. I spent almost half of the two-hour lecture laughing and laughing non-stop. I was so scared that Ms Fenton would get fed up with me and throw me out of the lecture hall. I couldn't help it, though. Caught the laughing gas, and Jia Hui and Sarah (who were sitting next to me) just couldn't stop wrinkling their noses and waving the air in front of them because the guys sitting in front of us were emitting a funny smell. They also had several theories about what it smelt like and kept trying to come up with new ways to cover their noses without being obvious. Hahahahaha I know it might not sound very funny here, but seriously, you should have been there. And in case you're wondering, I am usually a good and quiet student who listens and takes notes during lectures instead of acting like a mad laughing woman (contrary to what Uncle Ma thinks).

I wish Astro Navigation were half as interesting, though. I think I could still sleep in that class even if I got 10 hours of sleep the night before. And we have to write in this crap journal our reflections about the lecture every week. I swear, I'll never take another Science and Technology GEM ever, ever again.

There. Finished whining.

Had a rather productive and smooth MMR/ConB project meeting in the morning, though. Guess I can't complain. Day has not been wasted. Plenty of ideas were thrown around at a speedy pace and at least now we've got a few ideas as to what our reseach will be focused on. I thought the atmosphere was quite comfortable, too, despite the fact that some of us had not worked with the others before.

Ok. Now all I have to do is fret about what questions to put in the questionnaire (MMR project), try to come up with ideas for the 90-second trailer we have to do for DMA, and get a life-changing event to happen to me before Tuesday. Eaaaaaasy peasy.

As always, one should always start at the beginning. DMA and LSC tutorial were relatively uneventful. Both lecturers were very kind and let us off early because those in the Connect committee were so tired. I really think DMA lessons are getting a lot more interesting. Is it just me? I dunno why. Adobe Premiere actually held my interest for an hour or so. Well let's hope my enthusiasm lasts throughout the semester and brings me "good tidings" in the form of good grades.

Where was I, anyway...oh yes. So after LSC tutorial (which was the last lesson of the day), Becky, Mei Hui, Jasmine, Jesslin and I went to the DMS to collect the video equipment as Loh Loh had agreed to check them out for us so that we could capture the whole Connect event on tape for him to see as he could not come for the event (much to our disappointment). Jasmine then left (she had other obligations).

After lunch, I helped (or at least, I tried to) in the preparation for Connect (an event for the DMC students, by the DMC students which aims to bring together all DMC students from the various years and classes). Then all the students started arriving. Most of them signed on the Connect banner downstairs.

My job as the camerawoman was taken over by a very enthusiastic Wilson (coursemate), who started checking out the camera the instant he saw it. Since he was so interested in the camera, we decided to let him be the cameraman instead. And I think he did a pretty good job, moving the camera and tripod around to get different angles and stuff. He and Sky (coursemate) took turns with the camera and even carried the equipment back to the DMS for us after the event. They have my gratitude.

By the way, Loh Loh brought in this new tripod which is lighter and comes with a carrying case. It even has this extra lever that has the record as well as zoom buttons on it for easier recording. YAY no more super-heavy tripods that are cumbersome and difficult to carry. Sorry Loh Loh, for not looking more enthusiastic when you were happily introducing the new tripod to us.

And so, having been replaced as camerawoman (boo hoo hoo I think I would have made a crap video anyway. Shot the whole thing on Long Shot or something.), I went to join Becky and Jesslin's group, Charmed.

The event eventually started and opened with a performance by Avant Garde Percussion, a band which makes music using percussion instruments. It was quite interesting to watch and they are good performers. Sharina and Sahidah were fab hosts, bringing everyone through the event with their style and confidence.

Sabby's performance came next. It was beautiful, as usual, and as her song title would suggest. Once again I felt really proud to be her friend and classmate =) . And of course, Sarah was great at the piano, too. Khairul and Hafiz performed next.

We then proceeded to play this game called H2O which involved running and holding hands. And guess who had to do a forfeit. I SWEAR I was sabotaged. My classmates were the ones controlling the music (if the music stopped and you were the one still running around, you had to do a forfeit). I did my famous Cleopatra dance and also a not-very-civilised buttshake dance with about five others. Stop laughing. I know I can't dance for nuts.

And then came this game in which the group members had to act out a scene from the movie/tv series their group name represented. Ours was Charmed. Our group didn't come up with the most exciting performance, but hey, at least they tried and there were sporting people in the group. What's important is that they have fun and CONNECT anyway. I thought the judges could have afforded to be a bit more generous :p.

A speech by our Director, and then a series of little skits by our DMC year 3 seniors. I think I would have found their performance much more enjoyable if we hadn't been running very behind on schedule. Nevertheless, I admire their improvisation skills and for being sporting enough to go up there and perform for everyone.

It was refreshments time (verdict: not bad at all) and then Sarah and Ryan's performance. They did wonderfully. Proud proud proud of my classmates, I am. Then came the band performance. Not bad, just that I don't really appreciate really noisy songs.

The event then drew to a close with Aizat, Sharina and Wan Lin (coursemate) ending off with a dance number. Sleek and well-coordinated, given the time span they were given to learn and practice the moves (2 hrs or less). I shall not inflate Aizat's ego by saying I thought he did a very good job improvising on the dance moves :p .

We started clearing up the place, but lost steam halfway and the committee members started having their own Kbox session right in the Vanda Room. Hahaha. Slacked around, had more food (lots of leftovers) and left the school at around nine pm.

This year's Connect is a success, I would say. I'm not just saying this because my friends are in the org comm. It was better than last year's at any rate. The turnout was not bad, either. I dunno about the Year Ones (saw quite a lot of them around, though) but for the Year Twos I can safely say the turnout wasn't bad at all. Let's see...our class-almost everyone, 01-some turned up, 03-only the facs, but still! 04-most of them were there, 05-more than half came, according to Wilson anyway. And I saw quite a few Year Threes (didn't see any year threes last year) talking among themselves at the corners and at the back.

We were in the same class in sec 1 and 2, but somehow we never got close. I'd always seen you as this adorable, sometimes bubbly girl who has no lack of male attention (as well as popularity) and one hell of a temper. To be frank, sometimes I was scared of you because I'd witnessed the extent of your wrath.

But that was all in the past. All before I got to know you. And thank goodness I got to. You're so much fun to hang around with, a good listener, a good singer, a wonderful caring friend who will stand up for her friends. And I discovered that your legendary temper is not that bad after all! =p

As always, there's a tiny tinge of regret I have for only getting to know you after we left Beatty. Who knows what more memories we would have had, if only our friendship had properly begun while we were still in Beatty. Nevertheless, I couldn't be happier to have found a friend in you.

Your friendship is truly a gem, a precious gift to me. Here's to more everlasting memories we'll create together.

1.30 pm-Grace writes on a piece of paper "Okay, maybe he's a bit boring." I circle and double-underline the "maybe" (because it is redundant).

1.45 pm-Given map exercise to do. Have no idea how to do it. Oh no oh no oh nooo.

1.50 pm-Everyone in the class seems to know where which country is on the world map. I, however, am clueless.

This entire post has no relation whatsoever to its title. It does not explain the title, like how certain telemovies have no connection to their titles. Like when the telemovie is about family, love and adultery and its title is "Coffee on Cream" ;p. Yep.

So now, I have finished my daily round of blog-reading and have nothing to do except read the law lecture for tomorrow (Chapter 1 pages 3-6, if I remember correctly. I usually don't. Peter's gonna give us an "exercise". Ha. I bet it's a pop quiz.) and maybe the MMR project brief (which we are supposed to read from "beginning to end, left to right, up to down"). Of course, when I have (constructive, school-related) things to do I usually become strangely interested in doing some other unconstructive thing. I ended up tidying up my file for the past 10 minutes or so after I clicked on "Create a Post".

Highlights of the week so far:

• The new Coca Cola vending machine which, according to James (classmate), is "really cool" in the way it dispenses. I've yet to try it out, but I doubt anything can be cooler than the ice cream vending machine. James won the lucky draw/dip (promo for the new vending machine) twice in a day! He won this quite cool-looking bag and coasters. That guy is as lucky as my pesky youngest brother.
• Waving to William Tan (lecturer who taught us before) in the next class. He waved back with two hands. Someone dared Sharina to blow him a kiss. She did, and Mr Tan actually pretended to "catch" it with his fist. Hilarious.
• Loh loh's steadily improving sense of humour.
• EDMUND. He is now promoted from the-guy-who-thinks-the-printer-is-his to the-guy-who-thinks-the-DMS-is-his. He wouldn't let us into the Digital Media Studio before our class was scheduled to start. Shall still meet him tonight, though. But will have a word. Love is blind *sigh* =p .
• Twee dollars aplenty for everyone =D . I highly recommend, Miss Kwa, that you reconsider the colour of your "currency". It looks like Monopoly money. One could get mixed up. I also suggest that a more flattering photo be used =p .
• Group reshuffling. It was such a pain in the ass, and I'm glad it's sorted (at least for the near future). Hopefully nobody has any hard feelings about it. Here's to good working relationships for the academic year.
• The class still needs to be noisier for Rajan's class. Slow and steady, now.
• Jia Ying is now known as Kammy to Miss Peter. I hope she never figures out why it starts with a "K" instead of a "C" =p .
• I felt strangely enthusiastic about our individual trailer project for DMA. And during DMA today, I was ten times more interested than I usually am (except when Loh Loh was talking about all the technical NTSC and PAL, interpolating stuff). Very strange indeed.
• Tuesday: Went shopping with friends. One of them saw this very nice red and white jacket hanging in a shop, and expressed interest to the salesgirl. The salesgirl told her that the jacket was hers. Hahahahahaaha..

Yeah that's about it. I should blog more about things other than school from now on. It is probably deeply boring to friends who are not in my school/class. Just need some inspiration. Yes! Good tv in ten minutes (First Mums, 8-8.30 pm, Chase final episode 8.30-9 pm)! Once again I have wasted away an hour with unconstructive matters. Oh well.

Now I shall blog about Friday, Day Five of Year Two, since I am waiting for my stupid brother Kenneth to wake up from Dreamland so that we can go shopping.

Lalalala. Lectures were okay. LSC lecture was quite funny. Consumer behaviour (ConB) lecture was quite slack and more interesting than I imagined. And who would have thought that the ang-moh looking Fenton (ConB lecturer) would speak with what resembles a malay accent. No, Kammy, I am not insulting your best friend so stop roaring at me.

Let's come to the "highlight" of Friday-my first GEMs lesson this semester. Guess what time the lecturer came in. One forty-five pm. It was supposed to start at one. He apologised repeatedly and said something about forgetting that he had a class at one. Oh well. He seems pretty nice, but also deeply boring. But then again it is unfair of me to make such a hasty judgement after only the first lesson. And besides, at least he does talk about Astro-Navigation with lots of passion. Passion that could stir a mild interest for the subject in me after a few lessons.

I thought Astro-Navigation was something about horoscopes and stuff like that. I was wrong. It is about using the stars to actually NAVIGATE. Ok so it was pretty obvious, but I'd never heard of astro-navigation before this (I'd only heard of the act of navigating by the stars and I didn't know it was called Astro-Navigation) so you gotta forgive me.

Oh well. Looking on the bright side, I will have the advantage if ever I get lost in a desert or jungle or something one day. All I have to do is wait until the stars come out at night and try to remember everything this module is going to teach me. Not that the chances of me going anywhere near a desert or jungle is even remotely high. I hate such places. And at least the classroom is not in some faraway ulu place on the OTHER side of the campus which takes forever to reach. It's quite near compared to my last GEMs classroom.

Not a bad first week of school, I think. It could have been a lot worse. Sadly, must now wave goodbye to shortened tutorials and the holiday mood.

Stupid brother is STILL NOT AWAKE! Have a good mind to go kick him. He slept earlier than me, the lazybones.

Well, wish me luck. Shopping with my family is always full of whining brothers ("can we go home now?/can we go see what I want to buy instead?"), mother complaining that the top is too small for me ("why so tight?!" the problem is that most tops look A LITTLE tight on me for some reason. and my mother is only satisfied when the top is completely loose. now u know why I wear size L.) and other irritating things.

But still, it's a chance for the family to get together and me to get something without reaching for my own wallet (although I usually don't have to do this because my doting parents would give me money and ask me to go shop with my friends since they cannot be bothered to go to teenage-y places like Heeren. the real problem is that I feel bad asking for money too many times).

In view of the accident that happened on the slope leading up to SB today, I have a newfound adoration for the red brick wall staircase thingy beside the slope. Let's climb that from now on to be on the safe side. Hope the victims will be okay.

So Day Four of Year Two is already over. Here's a quick one on what's been happening over the past few days...

Day Two

The class was very uncharacteristically quiet during Feature Writing. I believe other lecturers would have killed for that kind of silence from our class, haha. Poor Jason almost withered under Rajan's gaze when he came in late. Eventually, though, our class started to make a bit of noise. But it still wasn't like during other classes. Hope that'll change soon.

Next on the timetable was OM lecture. No comment. I thought Lusia's lectures were fast-paced. One would need nothing short of the slo-mo special effects from The Matrix for Sheila Kee's lectures. BULLET speed.


Day Three

DMA was first thing in the morning at 8. Our only eight am day of the week. Happy happy timetable. However, due to some weird dream I was having (the only thing I recall about it was it involved chimpanzees. Maybe I've watched that Visa ad one too many times), I ignored the alarm and was woken up by my mum at 7 am. My dad decided to be nice and sacrificed his breakfast to drive me to school so that I wouldn't be late.

There are always drivers who will try to screw you up, especially when you're in a hurry. Our car was travelling innocently down one road, when suddenly this other car just cut in from some other lane and we almost knocked into it. I shook my head in shock while my father shouted a quick "Fuck you" (only the second time i've heard him say that). And then I arrived safely at the taxi stand.

Loh loh let us watch The Matrix and asked us to look out for the effects and stuff used in the movie. Enjoy enjoy eye candy yum yum. Once again I would like to establish that my nick is spelt M-O-R-P-H-U-S without an 'e'. And so, it is not a rip-off of Morpheus from the Matrix because I started using this nick before I watched The Matrix, possibly even before the movie was released.

After DMA, we had our LSC (Legal System and Contracts) tutorial. Am happy to report that my mind has been changed regarding the boring-ness of that module. I don't think it's that boring anymore. I always thought the lecturer, Phyllis Peter, was married. But turns out she's not. Bare fingers. She's quite funny, but she seems like the very prim-and-proper sort. But who cares. She's funny and she makes law sound more interesting.

So it was quite a slack day-just The Matrix, and a little discussion about law that was punctuated with laughs.

After school I joined the Connect committee (which is largely made up of my classmates) and watched paint dry. They were painting the Connect banner. And they were done before 4 pm, so Jia Ying and I walked around in Citylink, window shopping. Then I went to Cineleisure to meet Grace and her friends while JY went off to meet her family for more shopping.

We watched Madagascar. It was so dissatisfactory to Grace that she decided to drag us all into watching a SECOND movie on the same night. And so we found ourselves watching The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I have difficulty deciding which movie was thrashier. Madagascar certainly had cute characters, and Hitchhiker had a few hilarious parts, but both movies had their fair share of lame humour. But still, I'd always wanted to do two movies at one go. So, can't really complain, especially since Grace paid for my second movie ticket (she was that desperate).

In order to protect Grace's reputation, I shall not elaborate on how she spotted 2 unused movie tickets at an unreachable spot beside the escalator and got her friends trying and trying to grab them for ten minutes cos they thought it was our tickets. Thus making us miss the first 5 minutes of Madagascar. And those tickets? They were for some show in the morning. Can't be used anymore. Hahaha.

Was given a new identity as Where's Wally by my cheeky classmates because I was wearing this red-and-white striped top, which happens to resemble what the cartoon character (or whatever he is) wears. You can't imagine how irritating it is to have one group of people pointing at you and exclaiming that they have "found" Wally every now and then. And on the way out of the school we actually found this Where's Wally map thingy on one of the lecturers' cars. Hilarious.

Day Four

Hmm. MMR tutorial. Was quite distracted, so took longer than usual to read the precious notes-that-Miss-Kwa-took-one-day-to-make and do the exercise on this software called SPSS (which resembles Excel) that helps you sort data. Coincidentally, William Tan, our ITB lecturer from Year One Sem One was in the next class and we waved enthusiastically at him. Let's hope I do as well for MMR as I did for ITB, huh...*crosses fingers*

Then we had a two-hour break, so we had lunch at KFC and settled down in the BizIT library to discuss our very first wonderful OM presentation (who does presentations on the SECOND tutorial?!). And then it was The Matrix again for DMA (we continued watching it from the previous lesson), followed by an interesting discussion about the special effects and everything.

Yup. Thus concludes my very long update on the past few days. What an interesting life I do lead.
