Sucky Days
Today was rather hectic, I suppose.
First lesson was DVPA, during which half of the class had their turns being a student director and ordering the crew (made up of about 7 people selected by themselves) about. I was the interviewer twice, and guest once. Jason was first, and I was his interviewer. I screwed up, I guess. I wasn't watching out for the cue to start and only realised it when Jia Ying (who was the guest) nudged me with her leg. (By the way the test is directing a 5-minute "live" interview. The "live" interview is not broadcast, of course. But it's "live" as in you have to cut between the cameras then and there and stuff.) So I got off to a shaky start, but managed fine until Andrew (who was the floor manager) gave the wind-it-up cue. I was in the middle of asking my last question and so I ended off pretty quickly after that, fearing that the show would be overrun. It turned out that there were still 10 seconds left after I ended off. Sorry Jason.
Then I was the cameraman for Flora. Sharina was her guest, and she danced well. There was some discrepancy at the start though, so Flora got a bit thrown off. But all's well since Mr. Low's giving her another chance.
After that I was the guest for Jasmine. I had to sing Qi Li Xiang for 2 minutes. Ahhh was damn paiseh. But I *think* it turned out pretty well and I didn't sing horribly and make a fool of myself. My horrible complexion makes my face look like a pizza on camera though. Stop laughing, you.
Then I was the sound man for Sabby. Easy job! I loved it. Hahaha. I only had to press play to start the music and fade it after 10 seconds. After that I could sit back, relax, and laugh at Jia Ying (who was Sabby's guest) singing Spice Girls' "Wannabe". She was doing fine until she started laughing in the middle of the song (the cameramen and floor manager were laughing at her) and forgot the lyrics. HAHAHAHAHAHA and for the rest of the day I maintained my position as the top on her list of People who Piss Me Off Big Time by saying "So tellmewhatyouwantwhatyoureallyreallywant" whenever I remembered. Ok I shall stop laughing at her already. Or she will flood my tagboard and complain about my blog colour scheme or something. SCARY SPICE what. Must live up to her name.
Whew. Even though it wasn't my turn to be the director yet, I also felt the stress while performing the various roles for my classmates. I must say Sabby Carey/Showy Panda was really cool while directing, though. Didn't get to see the others direct as I was not in the studio while they were directing.
Newswriting ensued. B-O-R-I-N-G. But at least Ms Hui is nice. And we're on to soft news now. More fun to write, though I won't say it's easier. Yet. Though it should be suitable for my style.
After newswriting we had to rush to find our econs lecturer to get her to approve the question we chose to post on the discussion board (for participation marks. it's compulsory.). She told us about her daughter's garfield plush toy as she overheard us talking about it.
So we were bloody late for GEMs. Not that I really care, though. GEMs is a waste of time. We finished watching Chicago (I've decided that I don't like musicals. From young, I never liked those Disney films which consisted of a whole lot of singing.). On the way to the GEMs classroom (which is far, far away from our faculty) I called my mother as I'd decided to eat dinner out as the newswriting test would end at SEVEN. I called home and no one answered, so I called her handphone. I asked her where she was. She said she was in hospital, and I got a shock. Turns out that SOMEONE KNOCKED INTO my youngest brother and injured his arm. When chinese new year is next week. THAT IS, quite possibly, THE DUMBEST THING I'VE EVER HEARD OF. This is what happens when you don't have enough calcium, I guess. Note to self: Use opportunity to lecture him about importance of drinking milk.
After GEMs we had our newswriting test, which sucked. We were supposed to report on a National Day Rally speech. What the hell. Which we'd never done before. So basically everyone had different leads. Hahaha and before we started Ms Hui said "It's quite straightforward" with an evil grin on her face. After the test we all bugged her to tell us the lead. But she refused to.
I came home to an empty house. I started worrying if my brother's arm was really broken or something and had to stay in hospital. But I called my mum and it turned out that she was buying groceries and since no one was at home she had to bring my POOR INJURED brother. She lamented on how tired she was, rushing from one place to another. My heart went out to her. But I always act weirdly whenever someone in my family is sick or injured. For some reason. So I snapped at her when she came into my brothers' room (where I was using my laptop) and started to tell me that I had to sleep on my own bed tonight. I'd already foreseen this, and was a wee bit unhappy about having to sleep in my own room. I don't like sleeping alone in my tiny room. But yes I am turning 18 and should be more mature. Sadly I am not. So when she came in and started to ask me if I could sleep in my own room I snapped at her and said "Ya la I'll scram right now." And she started to say "No hor I didn't ask you to scram I was just asking you to..." but I was already walking out to the living room by then as I was watching tv halfway. I don't know why I did that. Yes I was a BIT unhappy about having to sleep in my own room, but I wasn't THAT unhappy. I do such childish things sometimes I can't stand myself. And now I feel so guilty for being mean to her when she spent the whole day worrying about my brother and rushing from home to hospital back home and to the supermarket and back home again.
Start acting your age, May.
Things are better now, I suppose. Now that I've got this off my chest and my mood improved thanks to Flora.
