Major Regrets of My Life (NOT in order):
- Quitting piano at grade 5, 5 years ago. Such that I will be considered on the same level as grade ones now if you let me play the piano again.
- Letting my parents sell my piano.
- Not asking Cute Waiter for (full) name, address and telephone number. Haha.
- Taking his presence in class for granted when he was still in Singapore.
Enough la. I don't have THAT many regrets. And anyway I believe in ending bad things at an inauspicious number (4).
Anyway i'm serious about 1 and 2. If you ask me to play the piano again, I can't really do it. There was a period of time 2 yrs ago when I suddenly regained all interest in the piano and wanted very badly to play again. But no piano. So I had to make do with going to cousin's house every week and playing on their piano. Then I realised that my skills had de-proved tremendously and I could only play with one hand at first. But after tons of practice I could manage playing both hands again. But it's really sad, y'know? I felt handicapped...sad, frustrated, disappointed that I couldn't "preserve" my skills for three years. Something I used to be able to do, not well I know, but still can do, and now I can only manage the basics. Those who play, I think you can get an idea of how it feels like by imagining that one day you cannot play the piano as well anymore and your "skills" went back to grade one standard. Sigh...but oh well one should not dwell on "what if's".
