Frank Zappa Memorial Day Meltdown

Bob Chamenko does it again!

The Frank Zappa Memorial Day Meltdown makes its annual appearance this Friday May 28 at 7pm AND 11:30pm!! The six and a half hour special will run from 7pm to 10pm and 11:30pm to 3am with a 90 minute public affairs break from 10pm to 11:30pm. The annual dose of ZAPPA will be presented by Bob Chamenko with special guests (& Zappa experts) Johnny "the Rod" Curotto & Dave "the Crusher" Kisyk. The massive FZ Special will include music from all aspects of Frank's career and will feature Zappa interview material as well as frequent readings from various Zappa books. Enlightening and entertaining, the Frank Zappa Memorial Day Meltdown should provide a great start to the holiday weekend. "Just add water, makes its own sauce!"

Note: the music will be interrupted from 10:00-11:30 p.m. for some crappy Pacifica programming.

Ed Palermo CD Release Party at Iridium

Big Band arranger and Zappa enthusiast Ed Palermo has a new CD out. Eddy Loves Frank is available on Cuneiform. A short message from Ed:

The CD release party is all set for Wednesday, June 3 at NYC's Iridium night club. I have a killer show planned, so I hope you can make it. We don't play out that much, so it's a rare opportunity to see this band in action.

I don’t consider my Zappa project any kind of crusade or following any trend for that matter. It’s just music I love. I’m often asked if the jazz community will ever embrace Zappa’s music. I have no idea. I don’t even really care. Maybe that’s a selfish point of view, but life is short. Why waste time worrying about such stuff. Zappa himself said before he died that he didn’t care how he was remembered or even IF he was remembered. Eventually, I and my band will stop doing this Zappa project and go back to my original material, once again happily outnumbering the audience.

To present snippets of FZ™ lyrics on our website which showcase his incredible sense for Conceptual Continuity? What were we thinking!

To have artwork of FZ™ releases up on our discography section, so that readers would know what their next purchase at Barfko Swill could be? Not done, period!

All kidding aside: we believe the material posted on this website would fall well within the definitions of “fair use” in the event of a lawsuit. However, we simply lack the financial means to fund such a lawsuit.
