This long weekend...

James Craig, not wooden but very impressive. Smoky skies in the background.

Lyndon and I visited the Australian Wooden Boat Festival. It was great, the weather was fab and the Hobart foreshore really came to life. We actually went down Friday evening, Saturday morning and then again Saturday evening.

Lyn had in the past had his boat in the festival, but as it's still being restored we will have to wait another 2 years to take part again.

We rather liked the vintage Chris Craft above, but I have to say, the sea dogs were my favourite!
Look at this cutie below! He was my favorite :)

We also went to the Hobart Regatta where I had my first ever go on the Dodgem Cars. It was fun! I think I was quite good at it (can you be bad at it???). It was certainly a laugh, chasing people around in circles.
I also did a lot of gardening, pulling out a tonne of weeds. Still a lot to do to make the garden looks pretty again.
Oh and did I mention I am taking part in a craft market in less than two weeks? Eeek! I had ordered fabric for scarves but the printers haven't posted it yet!! Freaking out here...
Have a great week
xx

Goodbye little Charlie - our faithful friend

Bit of a sad day for our family last Friday when little Charlie went to the big happy doggy play park in the sky.
Charlie had been with us for 17 and a half years. Gosh I love that photo above.

Such a beautiful, smart little guy.

This photo of him was taken up Mt Wellington. A group of Japanese tourists all wanted their photo taken with him as he looked so cute. Gosh it was a funny scene.

Here he is with me on my birthday almost 2 years ago.
There is no beating the companionship and friendship that a dog gives you.
I'll miss him a lot.
xx
ps on the subject of furry kids, I took Molly to the vet yesterday as there was no improvement in her tummy upset. She was not happy with me AT ALL. She now has antibiotics and I'm hoping she improves soon. The irony is not lost on me that a change in menu to see if she likes a slightly more economical food has ended up costing me $100 so far. But, what can you do?

Books -- happy and sad

It has been a good and a bad book week. I received two lovely books in the mail from Amazon.com -   belated b'day pressies to myself. As you can see, I purchased Dogs in Vogue (a century of canine chic) which as some fabulous photographs combining two of my favourite things: fashion and dogs. And no, it's not dogs in fashion, just dogs in the fashion photos.

I also chose the new book on designer Orla Kiely. Such a beautiful book...

Wonderful patterns...but I wish she'd use more blue and a dash of pink and aqua..

My sad book news is that whilst I was lucky/talented (?) enough to be selected into a book about Australian and New Zealand Textile and Fibre Artists, the book is now not going to be published. I'm a bit gutted. How exciting would that have been? I hate getting my hopes up to get them dashed.

I suppose at least I have my beautiful submission photographs (like the one above) ready for a future book. *sigh*

Birthday Girl

Today is our little girl's 6th Birthday. We were told that as a Labradoodle, Molly would settle down when she turned 3. She hasn't settled down yet, but we don't mind :)
She was so excited last night when I wrapped her pressies. This morning when we woke up I said, "time for your pressies" and she was up and out of bed in the blink of an eye.

Molly just loves gifts. She loves unwrapping them and even if the gift is not for her, she likes to help out.

Her hamburger toy lasted about 4 minutes. It was 4 minutes of great fun for Molly :)
Happy Birthday Molly!

Doggy days

It's looking all grey outside so I think I'll just hang around the house...
Up here on Mum's chair is a good spot...

I can even chew my ball up here if Mum doesn't catch me and tell me to stop...

Or maybe I'll sit here in Dad's chair and get toasty by the fire....

Dad, just sit down there and tell me how beautiful I am....

Have a good week everyone!

Buns galore

I spent quite a bit of time yesterday cooking Hot Cross Buns. The results are quite good though I think they could have done with a little more spice. Quite nice toasted for breakie with a nice cuppa.

Molly kept herself very busy on the couch in the kitchen while I cooked. Look at that belly! If I had a dollar for every time I had to straighten those throws and cushions thanks to Molly I would be a rich girl.
Enjoy your weekend!
