Odd and Ends again.

I am now underway with painting my "new" home - we've primered the whole area, and started adding in colors last night!  It's so exciting!  I may have to post up pics of my reno when it's all done here!

I have also been working on another project for SVG Cuts, but in the meantime, here's more cards. They are all simple, yet, sometimes less is more :)

Have you all entered in for the pop-up cards contest over at SVG Cuts? It's on now 'til September 5th. There's some great entries there. Check it out here.

"Our Family" Explosion Box.

I would like to share my second SVG Cuts project with you -
"our family" explosion box. (the file is from here)

From the
SVG Cuts blog:

Ever since Mary produced the Explosion Box SVG Kit, I’ve always wanted to create one of these beautiful boxes. I wanted to make something meaningful, and decided the theme to be “our family”, focusing on the love and the strength that binds us together. The focal point is the tree, and it seemed appropriate for this project – “Our family is like the branches of a tree. We may grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one. Each of us will always be a part of other.” – Anon. I filled the box with lots of love, and just to give you some idea, it has 88 of Mary’s SVG cut files (all distressed at the edges), 6 buttons, 6 brads, 52 pearls and rhinestones, 14 pieces of ribbons, and 18 pictures. I believe that this box captures the love and how we are so close to each other.

For more info on how to make the box, as well as the SVG collection used, please click here.

Thanks for looking at my creations!

Have a great day!

Homemade Jams in a Jar.

It's been about 3 weeks since I found out about my exciting news, and I have my first SVG Cuts project to share with you all.

My mom makes the best tasting jam. That's the reason I get up every morning - to have the jam with toast. My fave breakfast. This year, she made strawberry, raspberry, blackberry and blueberry jams. Yummy :) Looking at the jar every morning is where I got the inspiration to make them look more pretty, and another reason for me to get crafting.

Mary over at SVG Cuts also just created a collection that fits perfectly with my project in mind, Strawberry Lane Collection. I wanted to make a jar topper and a tag that would make the jar look beautiful - something that can be given as a gift.

All of my cuts were from SVG Cuts, including the collection I mentioned above, Moonlight Garden Party Collection, Vintage Paper Rosettes Collection and Robins Return Collection.

Here's the pic of my completed project:

The dimensions of each of the cut-outs is posted at SVGCuts, click here.

My project got posted up on SVG Cuts Facebook page today, to see it, click here.

SVG Cuts design team member!

About a week ago, I posted my "All about me" layout for SVG Cuts June Challenge. Today, they announced the winners and I received the first place! I was so excited, but that was not all! The owners of the site, Leo and Mary, contacted me and asked me to become the first member of their design team!

I'm so thrilled - so overwhelmed - I did not expect anything like this to come about considering I only seriously got into scrapbooking/crafting about 18 months ago. What a great opportunity! They are still working on the perks :), but I get free SVG file collections to work with, and all I have to do is to use their files to create something unique and beautiful. I'm all up for that :)

So, in order for you to qualify, you need to place 1st place in 3 challenges in a calendar year. Their contests usually run for about a month, and you can see it in their forum.

I know there's a lot of creative people out there, so I'm waiting for someone to become my design team member friend! Hope it's you!

Dinner crackers.

This was a project I did a while back, for last year's Christmas Eve party. A little out of season? Well, yes, but one could personalize these crackers to spice up any dinner occasion.

Using the free Christmas cracker file on SVGcuts.com, I decided to make my own Christmas crackers for my Christmas Eve party. To make things a little more unique, using SCAL, I welded the ribbon strip from Rosie's Ribbon Strips (9th strip - also a file from SVGcuts.com), embossed the middle section with Cuttlebug snowflakes folder and used white pearl stamp to bring out the images.

I also made snowflake napkin holders to match the crackers. The snowflakes were from various Cricut carts, and I added Martha Stewart cystal coarse glitter, embellished the center with a rhinestone and adhered them to a round cut-out base with pop-dots.

Inside the crackers, I put in 3 Lindt chocolates, a different question in each to spice up the conversation, and had one grand prize of $50 gift certificate to a fancy steak house. This was a highlight of our party!

I submitted this in for SVG cuts December challenge (had to use a Christmas/winter related files from that site), and I was chosen as a grand prize winner :)

3-D Flower Topiary

This project was made a few months ago, and I created this to enter for the 3-D Flower Challenge over at SVG CUTS(http://svgcuts.com). The rule was to use their 3-D flower files that you can purchase (Leo and Mary makes gorgeous SVG files to use with your SCAL and Cricut)and create anything that you can think of. I used the 3-D Flowers SVG kit 2 and 3-D Mums and Fall Flowers SVG Kit, and decided to create a flower topiary.

Although I have seen flower topiaries, they were all made from real flowers, and I have never seen this done with paper. I looked for many hours online to study what flowers and what colors go together. I decided to use light colors - pinks, creams, browns, and light greens. I was very excited to get to this point!

I worked on this for days - and created 61 flowers measuring between 1" to 2"(windflower, gerber daisy, spider mum, and dublin mum and using few extras from these files to create some flowers of my own). Each flower is made up of about 5 layers of paper, and each layer is curled to give it a natural look. These layers were then glued together. I then glued these onto the styrofoam ball (6" in diameter) and used bamboo stick for the stem, put into a pot and trimmed it with a ribbon.

I love the way this turned out - so springy and cheerful.

I ended up receiving the Grand Prize from them (here's the link: http://svgcuts.com/forum/index.php?topic=1597.0). This just made my day :)
