Garden Blooms

Hello Friends...here's what's been happening around the garden this summer so far, enjoy:

May Recap

Hello Friends...I've been out for awhile, busy with life and recovering from a nasty chest cold. So, in an effort to bounce back and get strong, here's what I've been up to.  Happy Weekend!

Progress on my granny square blanket. I'm taking a break from making squares and have started to weave in those dreaded ends. I'm going with a single crochet join and I'm loving the way it's turning out.

Here are some recent blooms around the garden.  This is a new garden for us, as we moved in January, so we are having fun discovering what's out there.  Looks like an Azalea or Rhododendron shrub. I'm new to this flower, so I'm not exactly sure which is which, but the blooms are beautiful!

First Iris bloom.

My neighbour's flowering tree.  These beauties didn't last long, but they were gorgeous while they lasted.

Post Rain Storm

Hello Friends, It's been a trying week, to say the least after Monday's record rainfall here in Toronto.  We received over 125mm in just over 2 hours.  Our basement got totally wet, as did many of our neighbors.  We're in the process of drying out now, with the help of an emergency restoration crew, who've been a great help.

So on a lighter note, I love this beautiful Hydrangea growing in our front garden.

Still working away on a project, the summer is always slow going.

This is also my first post from my phone, so I'm not sure how this will all look, as I cannot seem to find the preview button.  The other photo is of our backyard during the storm.

Below is an aadditional photo from my husband's phone.

Gorgeous Peonies and Roses

Hello Friends...I know things are a little light on the crochet and crafty front lately...time seems to be at such a premium these days.  Hope you enjoy these beautiful blooms in my garden:

Hello Friends...here's a little sample what's blooming my garden...

I think this is some sort of a lilac bush...smells just divine.

More Flowers Around the New Garden

Hello Friends...

There are all sorts of pretty little flowers popping up around my new garden...it's so exciting to go exploring each week and to find something new.  I'm not a great gardener, however, I do know a thing or two from over the years.  One thing I'm not really good at is identifying all the different sorts of flowers and plants.  Here are the latest...any ideas as to what they are, I'd love the comments!

These red ones I find to be so pretty...at first I thought they were some kind of a weed as they were growing over the last couple of weeks, but then I thought better of just pulling them up, just in case.  They look like some sort of a perennial, as they seem to be multiplying on their own.

These pink ones are so interesting...they smell like grapefruit to me.

I also have these in white...I think they are some sort of common perennial.

Moved In...

Hello Friends,

After a very busy couple of months, we've finally moved in to our new house!  Move day was a crazy busy long day, but we finally made it.  Chaos and boxes surround us everywhere, but we are slowly making a dent.  I've managed to unpack most of our kitchen, but all was literally shoved into the cupboards with no rhyme or reason...a re-org is in order.  But, for now, we are good.  Thank goodness, J. is off for the week...he's been a huge help putting major things together.  Here are some pics.

I was able to bring  my potted herbs and flowers along with us.

Granny Treasures

Hello Friends...

As many of you may know, we're moving at the end of July and in the process of going through all my stuff, I've been re-appreciating some of the treasures that have been passed down to me from my Grandmother.  It was such a lovely day today, so I took it all outside so I could capture a few of my goodies in the natural light - take a look...

After my grandmother passed away and my mom was going through her stuff, I was fortunate enough to take these two lovely pieces...canister and butter dish.

I love the bird motif and chinoiserie style of these china pieces.

They are called "Chinese Rose"

This little bowl again has the bird...it's called a VAR-I-ETE bowl...so pretty.

Pretty floral on the inside.

And this jar (not a china piece), but I just loved the colours on it...I've always had it out somewhere in my home.

Around the Backyard

Hello Friends...

We've just had some amazingly beautiful weather the past few days!  Here are some of my latest photos of the yard, garden, etc.:

Around the Garden - In Bloom

Hello Friends...

Hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend.  We have an extra day here in Canada for Victoria Day, so we're just plan to laze around and enjoy some family time.  I'm hoping to plant my vegetable garden today, if the weather cooperates.  Over the past few days I was able to capture some shots of all the beautiful plants that are flowering around the garden; take a look...

Flowering Phlox.

I only have a few tulips...this is one.

The flowers are droopy, but so pretty.
