Parking Spot Thief

Okay...so I don't know if I need tried and tested in patience right now, but I sure feel I am failing miserably. So...you all have to post a comment with your advise. In my apartment complex where mine and Whit's apartment is located there is a HUGE row of uncovered parking which is for first come first serve- there are always enough spots. Each apartment has 1 assigned parking spot which for the last year and a half is where I have parked my car. (Oh Helga- how I love thee so!) So last week we have some unruly neighbors that move in- which I reported twice already. Then, one day I get home from work and to top things off there is this blue car parked in my spot. I was a little confused- I checked the parking spot and thought "Is this my parking spot- cause surely no one would park in my spot!" Well- this proceeded for 2 days. So I wrote a note stating precisely this "This is my assigned parking spot. Please don't park here again. Thankx"

So for a few blessed days I would come home from work or errands and park in my spot while the blue car parked in the uncovered spots (which did I mention there are an abundance of?) So- here comes Wednesday- I get home and what do you know....blue car in MY spot. Funny thing is all around it there is a huge quantity of open uncovered and covered spots- but of course this dude has to park in MY spot! (I sound like a child I know- 'me, me, me, my, my, my'.) So I call the management office and tell them what happened and she responds to me- "Well maintenance is gone but we can put a note on their car that if they park there again they will be towed"

Here comes Thursday. I get home from work- YIPPEE - my spot is wide open- as it should be. I sing a little song of victory as I pull into MY spot. Whit and I had to leave a little later that night to go to a wedding reception. So I bet you can all guess what happens when we get home...there is that blue car- in my spot!!! I don't know if they are deliberately doing this to tick me off, but I am usually a very calm-patient (almost like an angel) person and now my blood is boiling. I think the reason it is boiling now is because they have been politely told not to park there- and they still do it- even when there are loads of open spots. And unfortunately- everytime this car parks there the office is closed- so what do I do? They have been fairly warned!!

Can you not park your car in front of the blue car? ... so when that person wants to leave to go to work the next morning he is blocked... well - and I think he will not want to be late for work ever again and he'll (hopefully) remember he's not supposed to steal someone else's spot...

I think we all have that annoying neighbor! Jason and I used to have that problem in Boston, but after a few nasty notes they were usually cured. Good luck. I am currently trying to figure out a way to kill my neighbors dogs without them finding out it was me...he he he. I wouldn't really kill them, but I sure wish I could! I cannot stand their constant barking and fighting. Mostly because as soon as I finally get Rhett to sleep they wake him up. It makes my blood boil!

Maybe a flat or 2 would get the point across or call the towing company yourself.

Everything has a price with neighbors. We don't have any animals (Except fish) because we don't want the noise or the MESS. So the neighbors who move in next door get 2 cats. They only go to the bathroom in the bark in front of our house. It makes it a real unpleasant experience doing yard work there. I thought about trapping them but the neighbors really are nice people so what price are we willing to pay??

hey, I LOVE Mareike's idea. That would get the point across! Except depending on what kind of people they are and how much they value (or don't value)their precious blue car you may end up with a banged up car yourself because they smashed it up trying to get out of the tight spot they were in.
We used to have some neighbors that literally had a bar in their garage....Nice. Another lady (we call her the smoking lady) because she would stand outside on her FRONT porch (not her fenced backyard) while she was talking on the phone (we think she was a "special" phone operator)and watch her little dog poop on our grass. We don't ever let our dogs out on the front lawn because we want it to look nice. Justin went over and talked to her about it and she played dumb like she didn't know the dog was doing that. Yeah right, you're watching it the whole time. The thing that finally got it to stop was when Justin scooped it up and put it in a sack on her front porch. Never could figure out why she didn't just let her dog out in her back yard to do it's business.

I think the obvious answer is have it towed. Ask the office for the # to the tow company and call them the next time it happens. As for flats and blocking them....you will probably have the same thing done to you in retaliation. If they get towed, that's all it will take, but it needs to be through the structured process your complex uses. Also, are the spots 'assigned?' If they are assigned, then it's a no brainer, have their butts towed.

You take a jack out to it...take off all the tires and lower it on to bricks...let it set for a day or two...Oh the removed tires place in one of the empty spots with a note that says, we would prefer to be left in "this" parking spot....
Good Luck...
