Baked Apple Pie Roll Ups

Baked Apple Pie Roll Ups are easy to make... and will easily become a household favorite! from www.spendwithpennies.com #dessert #apple #applepie
Baked Apple Pie Roll Ups are super simple to put together and taste amazing, seriously!  Nothing this easy should be allowed to taste this good!  I love that these are oven baked and not fried!

Ingredients:
  • 10 slices white bread
  • 1 can apple pie filling
  • ⅓ cup melted butter
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cut the crusts off your bread and roll each slice flat with a rolling pin. Combine cinnamon and sugar on a small plate.
  3. Pour the apple pie filling onto a plate and chop it so the pieces are smaller. Put about 2 tablespoons apple pie filling on each slice of bread and roll up.
  4. Dip each piece into melted butter (I poured a tiny bit of butter into a "butter dish" and just rolled in there) and then roll in the cinnamon sugar.
  5. Place seam side down on a parchment lined pan and bake 15 minutes or until browned and crispy. Serve warm.

Bloomin’ Baked Apples

Bloomin Baked Apples

Ingredients:
  • 2 Honeycrisp apples (or other crisp apples)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 4 caramels
  • Optional toppings: vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce and cinnamon
Directions:
  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  2. To get the blooming apple look, you need to cut the apples. Slice off the top ¼ to ⅓ of the apples. Scoop out the core. I don’t have an apple corer so I used my metal ½ teaspoon measuring spoon. Then, use a thin knife to make two, deep circular cuts around the center of the apple. Next, turn the apple over and make narrow cuts all the way around the apple. Flip it back over and you can see all of the cuts.
  3. Place the apples in an oven safe dish and put two caramels into the center of each apple.
  4. Heat butter and brown sugar in the microwave for 30 second, stir and continue heating for an additional 30 seconds. Remove from the microwave and stir in flour and cinnamon. Divide the mixture over the top of the two sliced apples.
  5. Bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes. (Check apples after 25 minutes and continue cooking until tender. Some apples can take 45 min to 1 hour to soften.)
  6. Remove from the oven and use a large spoon to move the apples into bowls.
  7. Top with a scoop of ice cream, drizzle with caramel and sprinkle with cinnamon. The ice cream will cause the caramel in the center to harden so eat quickly or put the ice cream scoop on the side.

Apple Pie Cookies

Apple Pie Cookies
These apple pie cookies are simply scrumptious and definitely one recipe you will want to try! With their amazing caramel crust, apple pie filling, and cinnamon and nutmeg lattice crust they’re pure deliciousness in every bite!

Ingredients:

Makes: 6-8 Cookies

1 Box of frozen Pillsbury Pie Crust (2 sheets per box)
Approx. 1 Can of Apple Pie Filling (just enough for a thin layer)
Approx. 1 Cup of Caramel Sauce (just enough for a light coating)
1 Egg..for egg-wash
2 tbsp. Cinnamon/Sugar
1 tbsp. Nutmeg
Flour just for sprinkling
A round cookie cutter..any size you like

Directions:

Lay out a sheet of Pie Crust, sprinkle it with some flour and slightly roll it out, just to increase its surface area.
Pour some of the Caramel Sauce (Just enough to coat the crust) onto the crust and evenly spread it around, creating a thin layer of caramel.

Coarsely chop the Apple Pie Filling into small pieces.

Top the caramel layer  with a layer of the chopped up Apple Pie Filling, making sure not to add too much pie filling.

Roll out the second sheet of Pie Crust the same size as the first sheet, and slice it into strips.

Create a lattice crust (just like on a pie) for the top of the pie filling…DON’T do what I did and create the lattice on the counter, it’s not fun getting it on top of the bottom crust..ugh!  ;)  Create your lattice on top of the actual filling, as if it were a pie!

Dip your cookie cutter into some egg wash and cut out your Pie Cookies…

Brush the tops of them with some egg wash and sprinkle them with the Cinnamon Sugar and Nutmeg

Place them onto a baking sheet and bake them at 350 degrees for approx. 20-25 minutes, until they’re golden and firm.   Let them cool just a little..

Skillet Apple Pie Biscuits

These "easy as pie" apple pie biscuits are a weekend breakfast treat for my family.  The preparation is incredibly quick and simple.  I've never made these with canned biscuits, but, they'd probably work in a pinch, too.  They're good enough for company, or even as a dessert, for those who may not be inclined to bake from scratch.  Apples and cinnamon are a classic combination and these dessert biscuits are sure to become a family favorite.  In this recipe, I share 2 methods.  The first method is for those moments when you're in a hurry, using a premium apple pie filling.  During apple season, or when time permits, I recommend that you make your own, so, scroll to the bottom of the recipe for the instructions for that method.  Either way, these biscuits are a De-light!

Ingredients:

8 frozen buttermilk biscuits, thawed
1 [21 oz] can premium apple pie filling [see cook's note]
1 stick [1/2 cup] butter, melted
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/4 cup walnut or pecan pieces [optional]

Glaze: [double if desired]

1/2 cup powdered sugar
2-3 Tbsp cream or half & half or 1-2 tsp whole milk

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 375°F.  Melt the butter, and brush on all sides of the skillet.  I used my 10 inch cast iron skillet for these biscuits, but, you can use any comparable baking dish.  In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg until blended.  Dip each biscuit in the butter, and sprinkle all sides with the cinnamon sugar mixture.  Arrange side by side in the skillet.

Cut the apples in the pie filling into smaller pieces, and  mix in 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla.  Arrange over the biscuits. [tip: Use a premium pie filling for the best results]

Pour the remaining butter over all and sprinkle the remaining cinnamon-sugar on top.  Homemade apples:

Apple pie filling:

Bake for 30-35 minutes, until golden and puffy.

Mix together the ingredients for the glaze.  Drizzle on top.

Serve hot. Yield: 8 servings

When apples are in season, or when time permits, I prefer to make my own fresh apple topping.

Ingredients:

4 cups apples, peeled, cored & cut into pieces [your favorite variety]
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 lemon, juiced
1/4 tsp salt

Directions:

In a heavy bottomed saucepan, cook 4 cups of cubed apples with the juice of 1 lemon, 1/3 cup granulated sugar and 1/4 tsp salt.  Cook over medium-low heat until tender, about 20 minutes.  Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla.  Thicken the juices with cornstarch if needed.  Proceed with the recipe as written.

Apple Pie Baked In Apple

Ingredients:

5-6 Granny Smith apples (make sure they can stand on their own)
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1/4 cup sugar
1 tbsp. brown sugar
pie crust (homemade or pre-made)

Directions:

1) Preheat oven to 375F.

2) Cut off the top of 4 apples off and discard. Remove the inside of each apple with a spoon or melon baller very carefully, as to not puncture the peel.

If you’re a skilled interior apple excavator, salvage as much as you can so you can use it for Step 2. I, on the other hand, am not skilled so I just had to throw my interior apples away and chop up additional apples for filling.

3) Remove skin from remaining apple(s) and slice very thinly. These apple pieces will give you the additional filling needed to fill the four apples you are baking.

Mix sliced apples with sugars and cinnamon in a bowl. If you prefer more or less cinnamon make adjustments as desired. Same goes for the sugar.

Scoop sliced apples into hollow apples.

4) Roll out pie crust and slice into 1/4 inch strips. You can also add a strip of pastry inside the top of the apple almost like a liner to add a little more texture/sweetness to the pie.

Cover the top of the apple in a lattice pattern with pie crust strips.

5) Place apples in an 8×8 pan. Add just enough water to the cover the bottom of the pan.

Cover with foil and bake for 20-25 minutes.

Remove foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until crust is golden brown and sliced apples are soft.

Makes 4 baked apple pies (in the apple).
