Today's lesson.
Those who are the happiest, never did have everything.
But rather, they are thankful for everything they do have.

Year End
I've been very quiet this year. I can hardly take orders (apart from close friends and family members) since I didn't want to make promises I can't keep due to the instability of my current life. I'm hardly at home during weekends, and spend most weekends travelling around, thus limiting my crafting hours.
I'm still doing things I love, and love things I do. I miss writing, but sometimes I just couldn't keep up the messy editing of the pictures and writing entries for the blog. It seems ages since I wrote lengthy entries, and I seriously miss that (even when I know some of my readers are just reading pictures and not my words haha)
Hence, to end the year, there will be a few special entries, on a topic that got the most hits on this blog: Wedding.
I've had the opportunity to prepare for my brother's wedding in late November/ early December (thus, my long silence), and had a blast doing it. I thought of sharing them with readers of this blog, and since I have plenty to share (yes, lots of pictures!), it'll come in few parts. Watch the space ok!
With that, I end today's entry with a hope that Miyyah@Kertas will blossom next year. :) (the above is a card made during Paper Crafters Get-Together v3, and yes, will blog about that too!)
Signing off for now.

Quick card.
What's your favourite crafting hours?
Mine would definitely be at midnight.
Those moments which normally would inflict pain to the eyes (and the head), and when I can't even think straight and would start to mumble incomprehensible words - those have always been the best of moments for me to start crafting. Without thinking, without planning.
A simple, quick-to-do card. (and no quilling!)

Midnight Quilling
Mine (with a glass of teh tarik) |
I went crazy one day and spent midnight hours at Mamak watching football with a couple of friends. And went crazier and taught them how to quill inbetween the football watching and eating my roti canai and teh tarik LOL. (Yes, quilling taught me how to multi-task!)

Because I miss making this!
I still love making a simple design like this.
Quick-shredded quilled owls.
It reminds me that simplicity captures hearts still.

Perfect Day.
It's always a joy to attend another crafter's big, special event. You got to see all the gorgeous handmade touch, and you always know it's going to be a super-duper creative show-off event haha. I've known Saza during our first Crafters Get-Together back in 2010, we clicked instantly due to our paper craze, and spend lots of time shopping, sharing and chatting all crafts related topic.
She got engaged few months back so this card was made to commemorate the day.
Congratulations Saza! Can't wait for that big, crafty wedding!

Out of coverage
I was outside my usual craft-comfort zone, out of sources, and desperately needed to make a quick card. All I have are white cards, scissors, and glue. And pencils.
The trick is to make do with things you have, instead of things you need to have. Limited sources definitely does not equal to limited imagination.
Look around. There's always something somewhere that you create out of nothing.

Just because it's green
You don't need reasons to like something.
'Just because' can be a good excuse too.
I like this just because it's green.

Roses are for men (too).
This one reminds me of Guns and Roses.
I wanted to put guns on the card, but that would be too much. Plus, I don't do violence. So I had the striped pattern at the back, for the jail. Hee...
Now it reminds me of good old Prison Break. Scofield FTW!

This way to friends.
This one was done half-asleep, half-closed eyes, and I even took a few minutes' nap in between cutting the paper and gluing the strips. Crrraaazyy things you do just to finish a card at midnight.
And the owner of the card was right beside me, watching the whole process (and making a card for me as well hehehe).
Midnight crafting can be very tiring, but having a friend beside you who's willing to sacrifice sleep for paper makes it worthwhile.

Of Orchids
I'm no flower expert, and I always think that my flowers are the roughest paper flowers ever made (zoom up and you'll see every crooked detail there is).
Making this was a challenge on its own. I'm not into the conventional feminine colours for mothers/ women like pink, purple, peach, red etc, and I wanted to portray that subdued, poised card befitting a great mother. So I ended up with this.
It's a bit on the retro side, with a dash of graceful femininity. I love the quilled orchids the most, because it took a while (and a bit of research) to come up with the end design. I sure hope they look like vanilla orchids.
Have I told you that the best cards I think I've made are all for moms? :)

Well-fed butterflies.
A bit on the retro side.
And you'll never go wrong with some big fat fancy butterflies.
As you can see, they're fed very well, thankyouverymuch.

For Moms
My kryptonite: Mother's cards.
It's the type of card I love doing most, and would never get tired of doing them. For mothers deserve the most amazing things in life.

No, I'm not the fan.
I'm not the fan, and never the supporter. A gauntlet was thrown my way, and I took up the challenge. Regardless, I wrecked my brain and tormented my soul to finish this.
At least someone is happy. ;)
p.s: Someone once told me that sometimes you need to sacrifice something good for something better. As much as I love crafting, there are other things that I need to prioritize right now, and in order to do so, some other things need to be sacrificed.
Due to time constraints, I could no longer afford to take orders frequently, so I apologize beforehand for any inconvenience caused.

I Like You.
So many things to say, but all I can muster for now is this:
I like you still.
It's been a while. Will try to blog again, Insya Allah.
And thank you for still reading.

Daddy's Girl
I always thought he's a great man who knew everything. He knows all answers to my questions. He's my walking dictionary/ thesaurus when I need one. He's my grammar guru whenever I'm confused. He's my art advisor. My hardcore supporter. My no 1 fan.
The moment I told him I dreamt of having my own studio at home, he threw away everything in the back room to make room for my stuff. He even plan the whole new cabinet design for the room, added in a huge table and told me to just have things I want in the room.
It's great to be a daddy's girl. It's greater when you share lots of things in common with your dad.
Happy birthday to the greatest dad in the world. Love you ayah!

My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose.
O my luve is like a red, red rose,
That's newly sprung in June:
O my luve is like the melodie,
That's sweetly played in tune.
As fair art thou, my bonie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry.
Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi' the sun;
And I will luve thee still my dear,
While the sands o' life shall run.
And fare thee weel, my only luve!
And fare thee weel a while!
And I will come again, my luve,
Tho' it were ten thousand mile.
(Robern Burns, Scottish poet)

Celebrations!
There are many reasons to celebrate.
Getting a new job is one of them.
Getting a new studio is also one of them.
And starting afresh is also a great reason to celebrate.
What's your reason?
