On hair colours and personalities

When thinking about who you are and what makes you tick, a lot of factors are significant. But have you ever thought about how much of your looks are crucial for your personality? How much you are made of your appearance? For example, in what measure do your height, your size or your hair colour determine who you really are?
Are hair colours and personalities linked?

Off the top of my head, I would have said no. I don't believe that my brunette hair makes me any more special, cool or pretty than any other person. There are a lot of flaws in this way of thinking. Because if brunettes were inherently cooler than blondes, would that mean that all brunettes are equally as cool? Or would different nuances then make differences, too?
It's a weird concept to connect hair colours to certain attributes. After all, nobody really picks their behaviour due to their hair colour. Do blondes feel obliged to behave less intelligently, just because the cliché says they are? Certainly not. And are all brunettes boring and the same? Wouldn't think so, either.
But somehow, hair colours still seem to influence people.

When I was nine years old, my biggest idol was Hermione Granger. I wanted to be just like her, and did my best to adapt her ways into my own. I had my Grandma sew me black cloaks, and I always tried to be bright and intelligent. That she and I share the same hair colour helped me a lot in my efforts. It would have never been so easy to identify myself with her if we hadn't had that basic mutuality.
Identification is an important aspect that hair colours can create. Be it a fictional character, celebrity or a friend, it is more natural to emulate someone who has something in common with you. Therefore it helps to shape your personality in young years. Who you imitate, and who you try to be, can definitely stem from such simple similarities.

Clichés are easily created around hair colours. Especially if you have a very prominent one, red for example, you will be confronted with them quite often. They are definitely able to influence these people. But I believe that they can do it in two ways. Either, you start to develop in the direction that the cliché sets. The core of a prejudice is often the truth, and if you are referred to it often enough, it may start to apply to you, too. But on the other hand, it can influence you in exactly the opposite way. Upon hearing a certain stereotype often, one can get sick of it and try their best to get away from it. And then, such a cliché does not apply to you at all.

I reached the conclusion that our hair colours are part of our personalities. They influence us, in what small a way it might be, and make up a part of who we are. I don't think that a specific hair colour brings specific attributes with it. But I also believe that if I was a different shade, I'd be a different person. Think about it: Would you be exactly the same if your hair colour was something totally new? Take it as a chance to reinvent yourself. When you can change hair colours, why shouldn't you also change aspects of your personality?

When it comes to colouring your hair, your possibilities are endless. I recently heard about a hair care company called Madison Reed, who specialize in hair dye. They have re-engineered hair colour, making it a healthier, salon-quality alternative. They created dye that is free of PPD, sulfates, resorcinol, ammonia and gluten! Since you surely don't want to damage your hair too much when colouring it, this alternative might be worth a look.

What do you think about this topic? And what hair colour are you sporting for summer? Let me know!

4 girls, 1 bus, and 6 countries.

This is me saying Goodbye to you guys. Not forever, mind, but for the next two months. Not because I'm tired of blogging, but because I'm going on a road trip!

Together with three close friends of mine, we'll be travelling around the western part of Europe from today on.
Our route takes us first to France, from where we'll be taking a ferry to Ireland. After Ireland we're going to catch another ferry in Nothern Ireland, which will then take us to Scotland. There we'll be touring the Highlands, see some cities, and then make our way south through England and Wales. Our last stop in the middle of November will then be London.

Quite a route, right?
We're super excited and really looking forward to seeing everything!

Due to being on the road in our little bus, I won't be able to update on here.
If you do want to keep track of our journey, you can follow us on Intstagram via the #4girls1bus, our you can go ahead and follow my Intstagram account, poetenmisch. Links can be found in the ABOUT ME tab above.

I'll be leaving you guys now, be save and have a great 2 months!

2013 End Of Year TAG!

Hi everyone!

Can you believe that this year is already over? I could swear this time it passed even faster than it ever did before! But we can't help it, tomorrow 2014 will start! Hope that this will be a good year, but it kind of feels like it. But before moving on to 2014, lets reminisce a bit about the past year with the End Of Year TAG!

Feeling towards 2014?
Rather positive feelings to be honest. I am not sure why, but I have high hopes that this is going to be a great year!

Done for the first time in 2013?
Driven a car (I just recently got my driver's license), been to great concerts and been on vacation with my best friends.

Unfortunately not done in 2013?
Kept up with my blog regularly! I really hate that I was so inconsistent!

Word of the year?
Escalation! One of my best friends likes to say this all the time, no matter in what context.

Gained or lost weight?
Gained I guess, but not in any significant measure, it rather stayed the same I guess.

City of the year?
I've been to a lot of great cities this year, but it has to be Munich. I went there so often for all kinds of things, going out for dinner, the movies, shopping, everything!

Alcohol and parties?
Not so much actually! Some time in spring my friends & I were all broke, so we decided to have fun relaxing on our own, which we kept for most of the year. But there were some great parties, too!

Hair longer or shorter?
I kept my length :)

More or less money spent?
More, definitely. So many expensive activities going on!

Highest phone bill?
Nothing dramatic, really. Don't ask be about the electricity bill though, that is huge because of all my time spent on the computer :D

Been to the hospital?
No, not once! Luckily!

Been in love?
No, unfortunately not!

Most called person?
My best friends, it's devided between them :D

The best time spent with?
My best friends, again. We did so much cool stuff together, I loved that!

Most of the time spent with?
That's a tie between my family and my best friends.

Song of the year?
One Direction's Best Song Ever.

Book of the year?
That's a difficult one, because there wasn't anything new that I adored. But I think I'd have to go for The Hobbit.

TV-Series of the year?
Oh, definitely the BBC's Sherlock. Best TV show ever, believe me. And Supernatural has to be included as well, and maybe Doctor Who. SuperWhoLock all the way!

Realization of the year?
There's nothing wrong in being different than the rest! This mainly counts for my group of friends and me as we don't be have what others call "normally".

Something of the year you could do without?
All the pressure and stress from school.

Greatest event?
My trip to Italy with my best friends.

2013 in one word?
Entertaining!

Well guys, that's it for my review of 2013! What was your year of 2013 like? Feel free to answer the TAG or just tell me in the comments below, I'd love to know about it!

Everyone, have a happy and safe New Year's Eve, don't drink and drive, and most importantly, enjoy yourselves! I love you all! :)

I'm Back!

Hey everyone!
Sorry for my long absence, but I'm now finally back!

Today I'd like to tell you something about my little trip to Alsace last week. Together with my French class I went there, spending 5 days.
We went there by train, going from Munich to Strasbourg via Stuttgart, and we also travelled from Strasbourg to Colmar and back by train.

Our first 2 days we spent in Colmar. It's a very cute little town, with a gorgeous old part of town called "Little Venice". We walked around town, visited a vineyard and went bicylce touring along the wine route, while also visiting Équisheim.
Then we went to Strasbourg, where we spent 3 days. It is also a very beautiful city, with both very modern and very old parts. We did a boat tour on the Ill, visited the European Parliament and went shopping.
During the whole trip, we had lots and lots of great food. It started at breakfast with croissants, then crêpes and galettes for lunch, and tartes flambées for supper. Café au lait during the day, lots of great wine such as Riesling with supper. It was all so so yummy, and I never wanted to stop eating :D

We had lovely and warm weather, and it just was a great experience! It was my first time in Alsace, and I enjoyed it so much! Definitely want to go back!

Has anyone of you ever been to that region of France?

Off to France!

Hey guys!

Today I just quickly wanna let you know that I'm gone for another week!

As a part of my French class this year, I'm going on a trip to France with a few fellow classmates! We're going to visit Alsace, a beautiful region near the German border. We'll be staying in Colmar and Strasbourg, two cities I really look forward to seeing!

So I'll be away for one week, hope you won't miss me too much!
I'll see you soon with some pictures from my hopefully fun trip!

Have a good time,
until then,
xoxo, Misch

Mini Haul from America

Hey there!

A good friend of mine recently went to America, and being the sweetheart that she is, she got me some things I asked her to buy for me :)

First of all, candy! I love love love Peanut Butter Cups and simply don't understand why they aren't sold here. She got me a couple of the mini-sized ones, which is just lovely! They are delicious!
Then she got me this month's edition of Vogue. This is such a huge issue! It holds over 900 pages, which is a ton! It's seriously heavy, but full of great things to read! I love Jennifer Lawrence on the cover, and the story about Benedict Cumberbatch is great! :)
And then, some nail polishes. OPIs, obviously, because this way I can save the horrendously huge shipping costs. She got me these three:
OPI - Tiffany Case
Tiffany Case is a light blue shade with lots and lots of glitter particles in it, some of them also silver. It is of OPI's famous Liquid Sand finish, meaning it dries to a matte and textured finish.
Tiffany Case was part of this Spring's Bond Girls Collection and is very pigmented, I did 2 coats here.

OPI - Magazine Cover Mouse
Magazine Cover Mouse is a reddish pink shade, again full of glitter. In the bottle it looks more gold-ish, but once applied it has some cool-toned raspberry qualities to it. This is another Liquid Sand nail polish. 2 coats shown.
Magazine Cover Mouse was part of this Summer's Couture De Minnie Collection.

OPI - German-icure by OPI

And the color I've been waiting to get for quite a while now!
German-icure by OPI is a deep reddish brown fall shade. It's full of shimmer and looks very very warm.
It applies nicely with 2 coats here.
German-icure was part of last Fall's Germany Collection.

I'm in love with all of the stuff she got me, they are great things! Thank you so much again, Jo! :)
What do you think of my little haul?
xoxo, Misch

I'm Back!

Hey there!
Long time no see, but now I'm finally back for good! And I really wanna get back to my blogging routine!

Today I'd like to share my recent vacation with you guys!
Together with my 4 best friends I went to Riva del Garda, a little town located in the northern area near Italy's largest lake, the lake Garda. We lived in a little house that my friend's parents own, which is located a little up in the mountains. Therefore we could only reach towns and everything by car, but that was alright with us. We had great weather and basically relaxed for 2 weeks straight. Went swimming a lot, in the lakes Garda, Tenno and Ledro, and visited little towns. Payed Verona a visit, which I enjoyed a lot, it's a beautiful city, and made a trip to the Gardaland, which was a ton of fun. Had great food and great fun, it really was an awesome vacation! I'm gonna leave you with some pictures, just a couple to give you an impression of the beautiful area and the great fun we had :)
I'm glad to be back though!

Update

Hey there!
Today I'm here with a quick update for you guys. I'm very sorry I've never really been around in the past couple of weeks, and I apologize for the lack of posts! I've been super busy and had tons of things to do, so I ended up having to put a stop on this blog. That does not mean, however, that there won't be any more posts anymore! I'm definitely motivated to get back to the regular schedule of blogging :)
I am now taking a two-week break, going on vacation to Italy again :) This time with a couple of friends, and I'm rather looking forward to it!
I'll definitely be back in 2 weeks with - hopefully - loads to show and tell you guys!
Until then,
xoxo, Misch

I'm Back!

Hey everyone!
I'm back from Italy! Yay! Feels good to be home, sleep in my own bed and have access to the Internet! :D I missed you guys!
I had a lovely time with my family! We stayed at the same place we did last year *click*, in Savignano near Rimini. This time, unfortunately, the weather wasn't as awesome. It's still quite early for a summer-beach-type vacation, and we wore long clothes most of the time. Was rather cold compared to last year! But we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless, and made lots of trips to the area. We went back to San Marino and Bellaria, and visited Riccione, Pennabilli and lots of tiny villages in between. And we did have some hot beach moments!
For today, I'd like to show you some pictures of my vacation. Here you go!
I hope you had a lovely week, too!
xoxo, Misch
