Niederflur - Typo Ep

Niederflur (Christopher Bleckmann & Hannes Wenner duo), debuted on M_nus label, and only by itself these five simple words (MINUS) make music panorama crumble when a new Ep is arriving from their Headquarters. So, judging Niederflur’s debut on M_nus label it’s like judging angel’s sex. It’s a quality add-on fact. What to say about Niederflur - Typo EP? Well… It’s really hard to find an Ep that goes on all the spectrum of the techno/minimal-techno genre with this level of quality. Let’s put in dj language… you put this Ep in your bag and in every point of your set you have a mix for it, from the top to the bottom, from the hypnotic to the progressive, you choose! Reviewing, Typo is typical techno bassed with a trip appearing on the horizon that goes on and on till the end with the bass derivable to the harmony trip. Iso goes minimal tripy, details and confused/clean highs leading to some kind of trance. In all the musics the bass is always niederflur. What’s niederflur basses? Richie Hawtin called them “basslines from hell”! Led is my favourite one, a lot to the hypnotic drives. The bass is melted, reverbed and hypnotic, and the construction follows that path, in a very minimal reverbed bass hypnotic way. Amp (one of the digital releases), is a really good progressive one, ideal if you want to keep the stage, or start the top peek. Finally , Pvc (the other digital release), I’ll call it minimal electro techno. Fits electro sets, fits techno sets, and fits minimal sets needing some variation to a good side. Really great sound games with a electronic computerized sound creating a disabled addictive harmony. I’ll consider this a don’t miss Ep. Haves great quality, great grooves, great sample games, great variations… Doesn’t have a track that will be the one of the year, but for sure all these five tracks will be in the best sets of this year. It’s a great quality “all-terrain” Ep. 8/10

Heartthrob - Signs

One of m_nus best producers is back. Jesse Siminski aka Heartthrob presents his first Ep of 2008 and i may say to you that he is in great shape! So, today (28.05) will be released in digital version "Signs" on beatport, you can count on tremendous basslines and very high synths ready to screw your head up. Both musics are excellent, the a side shows all the skills that this guy has. He goes up and down, left and right, always with a dead wish for minimal sounds that are able to terr you apart. It's a funky music, highly intense with a weird, kind of spooky, melody that i just can't stop listening! Easily one of the tracks of the year so far. Next, in the b side, we have "Apprentice" - this one gets back to m_nus essentials, low synths, deep dry beat, acid flavors and a set of samples of such creativity that will drive you to insanity! Both tracks will make the difference in the dancefloors, the level of production is very good, typical in this label that we were already missing. Take this Ep as a little show-off to what's gonna be Heartthrob Album that will be out very soon. Sick release!

Ambivalent - R u Ok?

I'm sorry to insist on presenting so many releases from m_nus... but they are unstopable. Ambivalent - new york city based - fits the labels performances. his music has been played by Hawtin's, Troy Pierce or Magda in the last few months. "R u Ok" ... is a great neurotic ride, full of dark and hypno feelings along with a great voice just giving the punch when it's needed. What a great music. "Nugget" is also a great music, acid reverbs and sweet pumping beat just going till the end! my favs :) Just one more note... there are digital exclusive tracks of this ep (that means they don't come along when you buy the vinyl i think) "Bunt" and "Cold Hands" ends the album in the most deep and gentle way. That bass and those dark voices just tripping and tripping... but you can only get it by digital way... i have them so just ask for it

Heartthrob vs Troy Pierce & Gaiser - MVS1

Released 20 days ago... i just couldn't not post it here! You must have listened this musics already in m_nus dj sets but they are finally out. Heartthrob worked both with Gaiser and Troy Pierce and the result was brillian. A1 side is pure minimal, going so deep with awesome reverbs always with ups and downs that just don't let you stop, a master piece worked with Troy Pierce. In the b side you have another perfect music! just minimal all the way, nasty girl has the 4/4 rythm that we like, the construction is brilliant and it has all those little elements that we like to listen in a music. Just keeping the flow going on.Always present in hawtins or magda set's:) Release nr 47 on m_nus records

Gaiser - Neural Block

After the first Ep "And Answer" Gaiser is back with another release on m_nus - Neural Block. His reputation is growing day by day and this fabulous ep confirms everything we may be expecting from him. The music seems to have a certain power inside you, i think i heard all the tracks previously, in Magda or Hawtin sets..."Neural block" presents everything you will be listening during the ep, underground rythm, disturbed micro-sounds building the path of the music, just the title can describe the music a lot. "Half Life" - 2nd track - will be a classic in a few time, minimalist bass line, always recycling itself with a subtle growing environment full of dark little samples. A master piece...
"Seepage" keeps the disturbance of the others, it's a music to enjoy in the early hours of the night with an hypnotic melody that will mess you up. "Off Print" is the most clitchy and pumpy track of the Ep... just hear it and you'll find out why... attention on the snares that full fill all the parts of the music. Closing one - "Separation" - keeping all the beats, snares and texture that you should be used to when you are listening Gaiser's music... another killer.A brilliant classy release, the 45th off m_nus.

min2MAX

Having producers like Marc Houle, Troy Pierce, Loco Dice, Konrad Black, Magda or Heartthrob and John Gaiser (for me one of the best promisses in this kind of music) working together in the same compilation could only happen in m_nus records; This cd presents the best that is done at the time in minimal tech productions, combining strong and known names with new upcomers like Jpls and Tractile. Niederflur aka Misc present here a different kind of project; Insasiable rythms, blastering paths, storys to be listened are the ingredients to this album ... I think all this guys are in great shape, or in other words, they can't be bad, all their work is done with the head, giving us always the best. A word to troy pierce - grvl, my favourite track of this massive compilation and other to marc houle always with his hallucinating and disturbing minimalism! A great cd full of great producers, the 40th release on m_nus

The debut 12" of Magda Hojnacka following the minimal taste that we can always appreciate on her sets... Richie hawtin style all the way, funky smooth growing bass patterns always followed by a slow and perfect construction that can lead us to a great evening! 48 Hour Crack in Your Bass is the perfect example of what Magda normally likes and surelly the best track of this release. Lockjaw & Panna Cotta eyes are also great productions with great minimal patterns assuring us that Magda is working it nicely! A don't miss it Ep

Listen (& buy it) here..!

No moods for reviews so here it goes... crazy disturbed rythms, great & dark personality.
"Debut single from the elastic sounds of Brooklyn's HEARTTHROB One thing is certain with the wide-eared palette in the hand of Heartthrob, aka Jesse Siminski- melody and swing are in harmony. 'Time For Ensor' is a debut-single full of playful bass lines and pop motifs decorated by animated electronic symbolism. Heartthrob's sound contains the balance of respect for dance music's past while embracing focus, freedom and fun via today's soft/hardware possibilities and potential. A Michigan native living in New York, Siminski was exposed to the same Midwest techno underground of the 1990's that connects much of the Minus/Plus 8 roster now adventuring around the globe. Being exposed to underground parties and futuristic sounds in Madison, Minneapolis, Chicago and Detroit, his ear was inspired from an even younger age by the classic electronic records in his father's (also a performing and practicing musician) music collection and Jesse's adolescent noodlings with keyboards and drum machines. His altered moves as Vivianne Project for the Contexterrior and Underl_ne labels have followed suit into Siminski's beat. Having only performed live under a dozen times, his energetic and expressive shows have given audiences in the States a sneak peek to what Europe will be experiencing in the fall of 2005 (performances in Berlin, Amsterdam and Barcelona are set for this September and October). Dancing the line between sparse and complex, Heartthrob's subtle hooks on 'Golum' and off-world echoes in the title cut, 'Time For Ensor', are more in the moment than moody or grabbing nostalgic. (T)his fresh outlook is a preview to much more sonic art from Jesse Siminski in the future." (in
