Dollhouse Miniature Pink Macaron Tower

Hi everyone! It's been another long while since I updated. The lunar new year holidays came and went. Just a couple of days ago, I received this in the mail.

It's a copy of the Florist magazine - based in Switzerland. My miniature flowers were being featured in a flower magazine and I was thrilled beyond words.

I'm grateful for the feature :)

I am mostly working on custom orders these days, and I'm very thankful everyone is patient while waiting for their items to be completed.

It's been a while since I made a dollhouse miniature macaron tower and I was surprised I had enough energy to make 2!

I'm so pleased how they turned out. I'm still figuring out the whole photography situation. I took these photos at 3pm, where the sun was really bright. I thought I would have really bad ugly shadows, which would be the case at my old house. I'm very surprised these turned out OK. I'm not sure if it means 3pm is now my ideal timing to take photographs, but I'll try again next time.

The macaron tower in the background is a custom work for a client and is still a work in progress...I'll take more photos once I complete that!

The pink macaron towers are always very popular. While making these, I thought of making blue macaron towers, which I've never attempted. I wonder if they would be as popular.

And here's another picture of it on the 3cm cake stand. It makes it look really grand. I'll have to restock those 3cm cake stands again soon!

Starting off the new year

How did everyone spent their new year? I spent mine at home, relaxing. :) I rested mostly and spent time with family. Was going to do a 2016 recap post, but realized it was taking too long...so I wonder if I would ever finish it! And then, I got a custom order early on new years, and have been working on that since, so the post just got delayed even further.

But I'm just happy and excited to be working on an order for a shop in Florida. A real macaron shop. I need to get the details up on the retail shops page soon too. I am making a lot of magnets and earrings for them!
And I decided to start off with working on the most tedious ones first!

Chocolate macarons are more tedious to make as they require more time to mix in the colors.

I also need to get them glossed after they are dried. I have been slowly glossing them while working on the next color. This order is going to take a while, but I'm enjoying every moment!

I am hoping everyone is off to a great start in 2017! :)

Finished with the Fake Desserts

I finished making the fake cup desserts which was a commissioned project :)

I'm grateful for this project because it's the first time I tried making such "huge" desserts. 3.5cm cups!

I didn't take a whole lot of pictures because I wanted to mail it out soon :)

The fake cream was made with milk whip cream which is available here.
Awesome fake whip cream I must say. Within the first 3 minutes, it dries on the surface. This is good especially if you need to layer cream after cream. Wait a while and then pipe again. Then the cream wouldn't collapse.

Also remember to wash the piping tool nozzle right after use. That way, you can reuse the nozzle again.

As for the fake macarons, I experimented using the Grace Light Weight Clay. :)

Valentine's Day Gift Guide for the Macaron Enthusiast

I was looking at my stats and was happy to find Pei Li Miniatures being featured in a couple of fabulous mentions!
Both, coincidentally were macaron themed articles.

The first one was about Wedding Macarons Guide. My photo was chosen to showcase ombre color scheme for macarons.
It's been a while since I made something like that, so maybe...I should again?

The next feature that I was included in was a Valentine's Day Gift Guide for the Macaron Enthusiast in the Town&Country Magazine. A New York based magazine, it covers a wide range of subjects from dazzling jewelry, couture, finest things made by hand, notable wedding celebrations, travel etc.

As a Singapore based artist and being able to be included in this feature means a lot to me.

These two features are probably the best news for me at the start of 2016!

Teddy Bear Macaron Necklace

Hi everyone! I've made my new second animal shape macaron necklace, and it's a teddy bear. :)
I really love this one as it is so sweet and adorable. I definitely love the colours.

I was a little nervous attempting to draw the eyes and nose, and am pleased with how it turned out.

Pink Bunny Macaron Necklace

So, I did make it in time to post a last entry for 2014!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful christmas celebration. I had a quiet one spent with family at home and took the opportunity to get some nap and play around with clay.

I ventured into making animal shape macarons and the first one I've experimented successfully is the pink bunny macaron necklace!

I had much time drawing its face. :)

Here's another shot.

I hope you like this! I'm also making another animal shape macaron and once it's done, I'll show it.

You can get the pink bunny macaron necklace here now.

I hope all of you will have a wonderful new year celebration and see you in 2015! Thank you so much for staying and reading my blog.

Faux Macarons- Vanilla

I've been working quietly on these faux vanilla macarons. 20 of them actually. It was the first time I was commissioned by a local company for these. I always ask for 3 weeks time line for a project like this. I can never do it fast enough. Furthermore, it takes time for the shells to dry, and I texture all of them individually. I'm careful about not injuring my wrists, so that's why I would never try to complete them in a hurry.

I'm happy the project is completed and I can now proceed to other work that has been put aside for a little while. I hope to complete that new PDF tutorial which I have been working on forever. I am in the final photography stages for that. Then I will be concentrating on editing and writing.

Wishing you all a happy weekend!

A special birthday order - Neapolitan Trio Macarons Necklace

Hello....

It's been a little while since my last update. I've been quietly working here, while handling a situation at home.
But first, I wanted to show you a little order I've been working on. A mommy ordered these for her little girl's birthday and her friends. I hope the girls will love it! The last step would be to attach them to the necklace chains and they will be ready to be shipped out tomorrow! I hope they will be in time for her birthday.

______________

Oh and back to my situation at home. I have a leaking ceiling that has been ongoing for a month. To date, there has been 3 repair works done on separate occasions. 2 from the roof and 1 from my room itself. Despite that, the leaking continues, albeit smaller than before. I am continuing to monitor the leakage, which can only be done when it rains...so, there were some inconveniences throughout this period. I hope it will be resolved soon.

Meanwhile, I'm keeping myself positive with the help of some fabulous music, exercise and lots of korean reality tv shows ^^

Ispahan Macaron Necklace

I'm so excited to bring you a new creation of mine - the Ispahan Macaron Necklace!
I love this new necklace so much, and hopefully you do too!

Before assembling this together, I've been thinking if I should offer this as a jewelry first or as a fake food prop first, but now that I've turned it into a necklace, I am quite sure there would be a few macaron fans who would love to own a life size fake ispahan macaron too, so that would be something I would be working on shortly as well :) To make the macaron wearable less "bulky", I've used the normal macaron shells and kept the width around 4cm.

In reality, it seems that the ispahan macaron is larger than the normal macarons - the shells are 7cm wide. So that would be my next challenge!

This can be found in the Food Jewelry section of my shop here.

Faux Macarons going to its new home...

I've been busy working here, so therefore I haven't had much time for updates...
One of the things on my list of to-do is this batch of faux macarons.

I've always enjoyed working on these, and now it is almost ready to head for its new home in Boston! One of the most happiest things that can happen to a creator is when their creations get to beautify their new homes and make their new owners happy.

I hope the new owners will love them :)

Give Me The Goods - Macaron Pop - Macaron Lollipop

For this week's Give Me The Goods, I'm pleased to present you my fake macaron pop, which is sometimes also called the macaron lollipop.

Basically it's a macaron presented on a lollipop stick! I really had fun making these...

I started making one a little while back, and gave away my first piece to a friend who just loves macarons.

The way I made it for the lollipop version is a bit different because of the stick size. I had to consider how the cream filling would hold up. After a few versions, I think I found the best way to do this.

I'm fascinated with this because I've seen how these are being used a lot in wedding or birthday tables decor. A few of this being presented in a nice jug or cup just makes a difference in your table presentation.

The best of it all is probably the fact that it can be used again and again. No ants or insects would come to bite on it, since it's not edible. Use them over and over again!

Just make sure to tell the kids NOT to eat it!

Now available in my Etsy shop or online shop here.

Marie Antoinette Room - Completed!

I'm pleased to be able to share these marie antoinette room photos with all of you here. My friend Caren has completed the final touches of her room and took some photos.

Previously Caren has ordered fabrics to be made into curtains for this room, and has taken time to pick some pretty chinaware to display the fake macarons that I made for her.

Aren't those fabrics gorgeous?

I am loving the entire look of her Marie Antoinette Room ~

I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Thank YOU Caren for allowing me to share these precious photos. :) xoxo

Faux Macarons in their new home!

If you had been following my blog, you'd know I have been working a little on these life size faux macarons. I finally shipped the first batch out to their new home last week and I'm so glad they made it safely across the globe in perfect condition.

I know they will be loved in their new beautiful home!

Just know that this isn't final yet, and there are still more to come :)

But for now I just wanted to share a photo with you.

The macarons in their new home!

Thank you Caren, for allowing me to share this photo :)

Clay Hydrangea on Faux Macaron

If you have been following my facebook fan page yesterday, you would have seen a sneak peak on a work in progress..^^

I was excited to show Caren a little experimentation I was doing, and while I shared the photo with her, I also uploaded it on my Facebook fan page.

Caren gave me a new idea for a couple of her faux macarons. Clay hydrangea was on the list. Although you know hydrangeas come in a stalk, and it would be way too much to have a stalk of it on the macaron, so I have been thinking about how to make this idea workable. Caren then told me that perhaps just a few would do. ;) With that said, I immediately had a vision.

And of course I sat down to work on it.

As you all know by now, the only flowers I've worked on are in 1:12 dollhouse miniature scale, and at most Lati scale. I've not tried making them any bigger, so naturally I am not sure if I would be able to pull it off.

For this project, I sculpt and made everything by hand without the use of any molds. I know even with molds, it's not going to be the solution.

I researched on Google and looked at pictures of hydrangeas and basically created petal by petal from there. After it's dried, I started experimenting with painting.

I took a night to finish this, but am really happy with the result considering this is the first time I'm attempting making life size clay hydrangea!

I wanted to make it life-like - to show the fragility of how flowers naturally are...and so they are semi translucent and when the light shines on them, you can see the veins on the flower petals.

These are a mix of blue and violet and matches this blueberry macaron perfectly.

I think...I might have fallen in love with these and would be making some more...:)

Clay Macaroon - New Colour and Vision

I had fun creating a whole bunch of clay macaroons lately for Caren. :)
They come in all sorts of colours and fillings.

In this case, Caren gave me a colour palette of all the macarons she liked and off I go to help bring her dreams to realization.

These days, when it comes to creating clay macaroons, I ask for a picture of the colour.
The more detailed it is, the better it is for me.

Through my art, I really do see myself as helping others to execute their vision and dreams.

Show me a colour, and I'll immerse myself in studying and making it come to life.
Show me a vision, and I'll try to implement it, bringing my own personal touch to it.

This was a result of our collaboration of colour and vision, which I enjoyed and love so much.

Things like this...do make me very happy!

p/s I know this picture might not be the best right now, but there are some tiny fake vanilla beans in the cream - both our favourite!

Bunny Necklace - Pink Bunny Macaron Necklace

Look at my bunny necklace! ^_^

This week I was in the mood for a little painting and decided to paint this cute bunny on my macaron.

I am pleased how it turned out. I love bunnies although I have never had one before. They exude such calm elegance.

This will be a perfect gift for that someone who love bunnies :)

There might be another design soon. Do look out for it!

Macaron Ornament - Cherry Pop Christmas Macarons

These new batch of macaron ornaments are freshly whipped and I'm so glad they are finally dried. The weather has been very wet lately which slows down the drying time tremendously.

But I'm glad they are now done and are ready to be shipped to its new owner :)

I truly love this shade, which is a bright cherry red which just makes me smile.

I'm going to offer this colour in my shop just because I think it's lovely. I know it might be a little late but well, there's going to be Christmas every year no?

Macaron Ornament - Red Macaron - Faux Macaron

These newly whipped macaron ornaments are a special request for a christmas tree :)

Initially piping the snowflake on these was not in the horizon, but I guess it was just the matter of time that we decided to go for it.

I'm so glad this turns out beautifully, and I'm liking these red macarons a LOT right now. Looking at it just makes me happy because the colour is so christmassy!

If anyone fancy some of these, pop me a note!

This is my newest pink macaron necklace! I don't know why it took me that long to come up with a pink theme - knowing it's my favourite colour, but late is better than never!

Handmade Christmas Ornaments - Faux Macarons

I'm excited to show you this batch of handmade christmas ornaments that I made. My customer wanted christmas ornaments to be made with these faux macarons, and I happily whip up a batch!

I'm also enjoying the piping process and it's actually quite fun and relaxing for me to do it. There's another design I want to try out and I'll have to fork out some time to try it, the thing is I don't know if I will pipe that out or try another method, but we'll see how that works out :)

These are going to new homes! Hope their new owners love them!
