Talking About Food

Something I like a lot: food. I'm writing about quiche today at the Mosh Posh blog.

This quiche in particular. Broccoli, peas, and pesto. Yum.

Mosh Posh October And A Winner!

Ayi. I feel like October is rushing past me. And I haven't even figured out what costumes to make my kids. Must not wait til the week before. I'm a major procrastinator.

Moving on to more pleasant chat. Mosh Posh layouts!

This one was really simple to put together. I printed all the photos and the journaling on matte photo paper, then adhered the patterned paper and letter stickers, and proceed to sew around the photos. In a moment of late night lunacy, I added french knots to the little flowers.
And once I started handstitching, I wanted to do so in every page. Alas, I ran out time, because I had to clean the house before my parents arrived. (Please note the impish boy with his old hairdo.)
The holes on the corners of this layout were punched with the Fiskars In Stitches edge punch. I so love that thing.
This is the layout I wanted to handstitch on, but ran out of time! Maybe stars randomly placed. I might go back and do that. The stars were cut with PaperTreyInk's die shapes. My first die purchase from them, and it did not disappoint. (They were also embossed with a Quickutz die.)

Onto the good stuff. We have a winner!

And #11 is Lorena.

Lorena said...Ooohh, such a fan of Jennifer McGuire too! And the rain has finally stopped here too, I thought for sure it would have been 40 days and 40 nights soon! I do hope randomness comes my direction!

Lorena, randomness did come your way! Yeah! Congrats. Email me your info by using the email button to the left, and I'll get that issue shipped to you.

Now off to figure out costumes.

Linda out.

Oh. Oops!

I did plan to come back a few days ago and share my Mosh Posh layouts.

My bad.

Uh, anyway.

Here we go:

This is my favorite layout this time around. I must confess it's because of the little guy in the photos, and not because of the design/colors/products. Taken on his fifth birthday, he was wearing the cake hat I knit for his first birthday. It was a too big back then, so it still fits. Or so he claims. I've taken photos of him wearing The Hat on each of his birthdays so far. I don't think it'll work next year. Sniff.

I love the photo of the kids playing together on the beach. The journaling talks about my wish for them to always be loving and caring towards each other. Alas, not an everyday thing around here.

I've used butterflies in layouts regularly for the past two years. And I'm not sick of them yet! Sorry. In case you are wondering, the big white butterfly is a Quickutz die. I couldn't find it on their website, so I'm assuming it was discontinued.

That's my oldest immersed in his favorite activity: reading, with his tattered stuffed rabbit Pudding in his arms. This has been his favorite thing to do since he learned to read at age 5. He's 12 now, and still doing so. I love that. Wondering how long he'll keep that rabbit.

And that is it for now. Sorry for the delay. This weekend, I was thinking about sewing a little bag to carry my current knitting project. I usually use a ziploc, but I'm thinking I need something cuter. Nothing elaborate, just something better than crinkled plastic.

Have a great weekend!

Mosh Posh August

Thanks for the blog love, y'all. I'm all smiles.

I'm sitting here, trying to decide if I should go out for my run now or later. This is a ridiculous daily non-Jedi mind trick that I use to convince myself that there is a perfect time to go running (and that if I go during that perfect time, the run will be perfect.) Being that it's a non-Jedi trick, it doesn't work. There is no perfect time. The perfect time is afterwards. When I'm done, and guzzling a giant bottle of iced water.

While I'm pondering on that, I thought I'd share my layouts using Mosh Posh's August kit. It was filled with Sassafras (which I love) and Lily Bee (which I also love). Win-win.

These photos just crack me up. This is my youngest who is under the impression that it's OK to wear plaid on plaid. I tried explaining to him that this particular getup had too much of a good thing. But he retorted that it matched just fine, being that both articles of clothing were orange-based. Makes sense, I guess.

I love the photos on this page. Last summer, while my mom was visiting, we went out to the front yard after dinner, with bikes and scooters and just goofed around. My mom got on a bike for the first time in over 40 years! And she proved that it's true that you never forget how to ride a bike. Although she was screaming. In a (scared) happy sort of way.

I've been wanting to scrap these photos forever (well, since last year)! They are from last summer when we drove to Montreal to visit my friend Melanie. Her kids and my kids instantly became friends. We were walking around Old Montreal, and Mel and I were trying to take photos of the boys. But they were having none of it.

My kids love taking photos. L-O-V-E. And the results aren't always bad. They don't have any preconceived idea of what is a good/bad photo. So they just shoot away. When I finally get the camera back, there are usually hundreds of photos, most of which are terribly blurry. But there are a few gems, as well. I made this layout with a little envelope to save those photo-gems. The idea for the title is from the If You Give A Mouse A Cookie book. While I was crafting it late one night, I looked at that stitched-on Sass paper, and thought it would be so clever of me to embroider a camera on the envelope. Har! I love the result, but it took me way more time than I care to admit. Embroidering is harder than it looks. (I'm sticking to knitting.)

And that is that for now. I must go back to my originally scheduled activity. Yeah. Running. Woot.
