So as most all of you know, our little Ava was born Monday night at 6:05 pm. She was 7lbs 9oz and 20 inches long. She is so perfect and such a blessing in our lives. So far she has been the perfect little baby. She hardly ever cries and sleeps and eats well. Since both Christy and Ava are doing so well, we decided to leave the hospital ASAP. We arrived home Tuesday night at 8 pm. (only 26 hours after Ava was born!!!)
Now about the delivery. At 8am Monday, Christy's water broke. We got to the hospital and checked in at about 9:15am. They hooked her up to the monitors and checked her and she was already dilated to 2cm. Her contractions were weak and about 5 min apart so they started giving her pitosin to increase the intensity and frequency of her contractions. A few hours later they checked her again and she was at 4cm. Going into this Christy knew she wanted an epidural so she asked for it right away. Unfortunately she had to wait a little longer because the anesthesiologist wanted her to have 2 liters of IV fluid in her. They cranked it up as fast as it could go and about 45 mins later she got the epidural and then was in heaven. A few hours later she was at 7 cm and then a few hours after that she was at 10. She started pushing at 4pm and a little over 2 hours later little Ava arrived! We were very blessed that everything went so well for her first delivery. And now what everyone has been waiting for. Pictures, pictures, and more pictures!

So I guess just because our baby counter is down to zero, it doesn't mean you are guaranteed to have the baby. Today is the due date and we are bummed little Ava has decided to wait a little longer. We have a doctors appointment on Monday and last week they said if she still hasn't come yet then they will most likely schedule a day for induction. We will definately pick the soonest date possible. We cannot wait any longer! Christy's belly is getting really big and our nurse keeps telling us that it seems like a large baby. So for that reason I don't think they want to wait very long to get the baby out. On a side note, we moved into my parents house this last weekend and have gotten all settled in. We definately can't complain living in such a nice house with many perks. It was awesome having Josh's fam in town visiting and we can't wait to see the rest of you in the weeks or days to come.
While the girls were having the baby shower on saturday, some friends and I went up towards Emigrant Gap to jump off some cliffs. The normal place we go to was closed due to the fires, but luckily Doug knew of another place to go to that was only a few miles away. It was way better with a lot bigger cliffs. It's only a 10 minute hike to the cliffs and the pool is huge that you jump into. There were even some guys doing gainers and different kinds of flips off the cliffs. There is no way I would even try that. I just go with the old school "pencil" method. lol Notice the crosses in the back of the group pic. Apparently there have been 2 deaths at this place. One was in 2003 and one was just last year. We were careful though so no worries.
We made it 1 year so far! It's been a great year and we are happier than ever right now. We can't wait for our family to grow. Less than 3 weeks to go (that is of course if she doesn't feel like hanging around in the whomb an extra week). Christy is an awesome girl and I couldn't have picked a more caring and loving wife. We still have a lot ahead of us, and we are happy to go through it together.
For the 4th of July we went up to Grandpa Kelly's house in Yuba City with Mom & Dad, Calvin & Joanne, Clinton, and Ryan & Jen and kids. It was so much fun being all together enjoying the nice weather outside. We had an awesome bbq and ate under the shade of Grandpa's huge 100 year old almond tree. Afterwards, we burned all the calories we ate playing in the pool. We played on the slide and diving board. Grandpa's diving board is so springy! Everytime we jumped on it we thought it might break. It practicly touches the water it bends so much.
So as many of you know the new "hands free" cell phone law started on July 1st. I came across this hilarious video about how we can now accomplish so much more since our hands will not be so occupied with our phones.
We've recently added a member to our family with Jack's arrival on 2-11-10. It's amazing seeing our family grow and to know we can be together forever. I've been accepted to Kaiser's allied health school for the sonography program and classes start in April. Christy watches after our kids at home and is a wonderful mother.
