Next Up...the Algoma Transport

The next ship came at me pretty quickly.

In this case, the next ship was the Algoma Transport.
I think she is one of the last Canadian built ships on the Lakes.
She gets ready to pass the Atlantic Huron.
I love the wake from the Atlantic Huron.
The Algoma Transport is about to hit the wake.
Makes for some nice wave action.
And she passes.
I'll have to say that she is a pretty nice looking ship in her own right.
She is heading to Port Weller.

And she continues down the river.

One more shot as she is about to pass the next ship.

Catching Up With An Old Friend

I almost wasn't going to do anything last Saturday and then I saw that there would be six ships passing within a couple of hours.  When I saw what ships they were, I realized that I had to get down to Belle Isle.

First up in the bunch was the Atlantic Huron.
The Atlantic Huron holds a special place in my heart because she was the first ship I caught a picture of where I thought that I could do this ship photography thing.
She was passing the Pineglen at the Soo Locks and I loved the picture that was a result of that.  I think I've taken better pictures since then but I still like that one.
I thought that she wasn't long for this world but I found she's still going to be around for a while.
I rarely get a chance to see her though.  She tends to make those long voyages where I don't get to see her alot.
It was calm enough for my drone, so I took it out.
She's got a pretty cool wake.

The Last One for the Day

And I had one more ship for the day.

I've already seen her once this year but I wasn't able to get decent pictures that time.
The CSL St. Laurent was heading upbound.  I think she was heading up from Quebec City because I think that is where she was heading the last time I saw her.
She was heading down from Thunder Bay with a load of grain.
And I think she is returning to Thunder Bay, where she would probably pick up another load of grain.
She bow shot.  I like the looks of this ship with the mural.  I was hoping that they would paint some more ships with murals.
But I don't think they would look as cool as this one.
As you can see, she is starting to look a little rough for wear.
When you consider the number of locks she passes through.  I think someone said it was around 32 to get from Quebec to Thunder Bay.
That's quite a few chances for scrapes.
But she doesn't look that bad, I suppose.
One more shot with my regular camera.
And then I switched to my drone.  I was glad to do this because I didn't get great shots the last time.
I kind of wish I would have stayed lower.
The beam shot.
And my last shot of the day.

A New Visitor to Michigan Exposures

Little did I realize, I would end up getting a new ship on my blog.

The Andean is a new visitor to this blog but I'm pretty sure she is not a new visitor to the Lakes.
The Andean was built in 2009 for her current owners.
Her flag of convenience is from Cyprus.
And she currently sails under charter for Canada Forest Navigation.
She is 606 feet long and 77 feet wide and that means she can fit through the Welland Canal.
Well I guess she would have to fit through the Welland to get here.
I think she was heading up to Sault Ste Marie, but I'm not sure.
You can see the next ship in the background.
I like this angle and I like this spot because I can get a fairly close shot of this angle.
One more shot.
And then I took to the air.  I love the blue of the water from the sky.  It almost looks like a pool.
I was able to maneuver well enough to get this angle.
I kind of like the wake from these boats.
The beam shot.
And she moves on.
One more shot before the next ship.
