A Rainbow Over Ypsilanti

It rained for most of the afternoon yesterday.  We got a reprieve around sunset and as a result, we got a rainbow.

Unfortunately, not the greatest picture because I was shooting from my aparment.
I tried from a different orientation.
I tried to get the full rainbow, but I don't have a wide enough angle on my lens.
Another shot from portrait orientation.
As I was getting ready to go back into my apartment, I thought the sunset looked pretty cool too.

The Detroit Skyline at Sunset

After catching the Barker, I wanted to head down to Riverside because I thought I could catch the Blough.
The only problem was that I was losing my sunset.  But it made for a nice skyline.

The Sunset Moon

I kind of liked the way the moon looked.
So I took a picture of it.  I liked the pattern of clouds around it.

A Sunset on the Saginaw Bay

After catching the Callaway, I decided to take M-25 for a trip around the thumb.  I was hoping to make it to Fish Point before it got too dark.  When it didn't look like I was going to do that, my pointed out a place where I could catch the sunset.
She was right, it was a pretty nice spot.  I kind of had to wait for the sun to dip below the horizon though.  You should never take direct pictures of the sun.
I think it would have been a nicer sunset if there were more clouds in the sky.

The Sunset in South Haven

I thought I was going to go to St. Joseph after Grand Haven.  It was getting late though and I wanted to catch one more lighthouse.
The sun was starting to set as I was about to pass South Haven, so I decided to stop there.
Sadly, there was some low cloud cover, so I didn't get the full effect of the sunset.  However, I can't complain too much because I was able to get some pictures of the lighthouse.

The sky was still pretty though and the lighthouse was mostly deserted.
I think I had to mess around with this one for a bit.
I love the reflections on the water.
I wanted to try to get the vaunted curve with the catwalk lights.
One more shot before heading home.

While I am getting better, I am still not quite 100% better yet.  I think I was pushing it a little too much yesterday on my whirlwind.  Most of it was driving though, so I guess that wasn't too bad.  I'm sure things will get better as I get better though.

Down at the Sunset Barn

I've been meaning to take a picture of this barn for a while.  I pass it pretty much every day as I head into work.  As I looked at the sun, I decided that I was going to take a picture of it tonight.
The light was hitting it just perfectly.  I just wish there was a little more snow on the ground.  Would make for a pretty nice picture.
Trying another angle with more trees.
This fence is in front of the barn.
I kind of liked the panoramic shot.  The sun was hitting everything just right.
 Trying another angle.
The almost full moon looked pretty good.
As I was taking a picture of the moon, this airplane passed by.  I can't tell what airline this is but I think it is a 737.

A Golden Blue Water Bridge

I was waffling about whether or not I wanted to stay around for the next ship.  The American Integrity was too far out for me to get her.  I was about to pack it up and head home but then I looked.
The sun was hitting the Blue Water Bridge perfectly and it set out well against the gray skies behind it.  I kind of wish I would have paid attention about a minute or two sooner because I could have gotten the American Integrity framed under the bridge.  As it was, she is still there but she is way to the left.

Sunset Over the Water Tower

The sunset looked pretty cool last night and I wanted something in the foreground.
I decided to use the Water Tower.
I should say the legendary Water Tower.
I kind of liked the clouds in the background, but they kind of got lost in this picture.
So I tried a closer view.

Sunset at the Park

As I was getting back to my car, I liked the way the water was fairly smoothe, so I decided to get a couple pictures.
The the US-23 bridge over the Huron River.  I liked the way the sun was setting below it.  I kind of wish the pictures I had where trucks were passing over were better.
A shot of the Dixboro Dam.  This is what prompted me to take these two pictures in the first place.  I liked how the tree was caught in the reflection.
