A Nice Cap to the Day

So I ended up taking the exit past Willow Run as I was heading home.  I saw this guy on one of the light poles, so I had to stop to get pictures.

It is a red tailed hawk.
He was looking at me as I was taking pictures.
And then looking around.
Just after this shot, he took off.
And landed on another ligth pole.
This was better for me because the light was better.
He was a little further away though.
But I've got pretty decent resolution for my camera, so I could blow it up.

Searching for the Willow Run Owl

I heard that there was a snowy owl hanging around at Willow Run.  Actually, I saw pictures of it.  Well at first, they were labeled as "Wayne County" and eventually someone spilled the beans.  I went looked around the other night.  I didn't see the owl then but I figured I would try again.

Before going to the spot for the owl, I thought I would get some pictures of the B-52 that is parked in front of the new Yankee Air Force hangar.
I think they have been trying to restore it but I also think it is when they have time and money project.
It still looks pretty cool.  I would like to get a picture in front of it like an older picture of me.
A closeup of the nose.
A closer view of the cockpit.
Pulled out.
A different angle for the cockpit.
A closeup of the engine.
I kind of went wandering around the airport.  There were a couple of ponds that were enough for ducks to swim around.
And I kind of like this shot.
Close to the area where the snowy owl supposedly hangs out, I saw this guy.
It is a red tailed hawk.
I figured since I wasn't going to get any owl pictures, I might as well take a few of him.
He landed for a little bit.
And then he was back up in the air.
Another shot of him gliding.
And one more of the hawk before heading off.

Catching a Hawk

I had to take my mom to the doctor today.  After we got out of her appointment, I saw this guy hanging around on a lamp.

I think this is a red-tailed hawk.
He was looking around.
The lighting was perfect for me.
I moved to a different spot to get some different angles of him.  He moved to a different spot on the lamp.  I actually like this spot better.
I'm not sure what he was looking at.  I was kind of hoping he was looking at some sort of prey.  I have yet to get decent pictures of a bird of prey with prey.
Looking again.
I think he was looking at me in this shot.  Kind fo scary.
Then he looked off again.  I had to go anyway.

Catching a Juvenile Red Tailed Hawk

I went up to my cousin's for a Christmas dinner.  Today was pretty much the only day that everyone could meet, so we had it today.  It was pretty nice to see my cousins and the meal was pretty good.

I decided to take River Road the rest of the way up.  It runs along the Saginaw River.  Occasionally I will see freighters or wildlife.
I knew I wasn't going to see any freighters, so I was banking on seeing some wildlife.  I saw an eagle as I first turned onto River Road.  He flew away as soon as I got my camera out.
As I was continuing up, I saw this guy land.  I stopped and got out to take some pictures of him.
Apparently it is a juvenile red tailed hawk.
It was pretty cool to see and I'm fairly happy with the pictures.
And then it flew away.

And a Hawk

One more thing that was keeping me from leaving the island.

As I was leaving the island, I saw this guy perched on a pole.  I ended up going around in the hopes that I could catch him.
Happily, that ended up being  the case.
I think this was a  red-tailed hawk.
One more picture before he took off.

A Red Tailed Hawk

As I was leaving town, I saw this guy perched on a power pole.

I believe it is a red tailed hawk or that is what I was told.
Anyway, it was amazing how close he allowed me to get.
Because of that, I was able to get some pretty good detail.
He stayed here until a car passed us and then he flew off.

A Hawk in Ohio

On Sunday, I decided to head down to Deshler and Fostoria.

As I was taking the road into Deshler, I saw this guy.  I thought it was a juvenile eagle but it turns out that it was a red tailed hawk.  That is still pretty cool.

Catching a Red Tailed Hawk

As I was driving around Fish Point, I saw this guy.
He was standing in a tree and as I went closer, he started to fly away.
He then started to circle as he started to hunt.
I'm pretty sure he is a red tailed hawk.  I will have to say he looks pretty neat.
I kind of like this shot.
Just wish I didn't have to blow these up so much.
 I really like this angle.
One more shot before moving on.
