The Algoma Sault Passes By

Next up would have been the last ship I planned to catch.

The Algoma Sault was coming down from Corunna (or at least that's what her AIS says).
I'm not sure what she is carrying though.
She is heading to Contrecouer which is more by Quebec City.
And so she's traveling about the same distance as the Kaministiqua.
I liked the way the setting sun was hitting her.
The almost bow shot.
She makes a turn for the channel.
I like this shot.
She passes Windsor.
She approaches the Ambassador Bridge.
I like this shot too.
The first part passing the Bridge.
She's approached by the Westcott.
The Westcott is delivering something to her.
The Westcott following along.
And then she pulls away.
She approaches the Gordie Howe Bridge.
She passes under the Gordie Howe Bridge as the sun sets.

The Algoma Sault Heads On Down

After catching the Blue Angels last Sunday (yes, I'm that far behind).  I decided to head up to Port Huron to catch a couple of ships.  It was a nice enough day and one of them was a ship  that I wanted to catch.

First up was the Algoma Sault.  It was a little on the hazy side but I think that makes for cool pictures.
I think she was heading down from Goderich and that would mean that she was carrying a load of salt.
Unfortunately, I don't remember where she was heading.
But it was still kind of cool to see.
It was a little windy (but not too windy for my drone).  The water coming down the side is from washing down the deck to prevent hogging.
It seems like it is only the Equinox boats that I have seen like this.
She makes the turn for the St. Clair River.
And then I took to the air.
I like this view.
She continues to pass by.
The beam shot.
And she passes by.
She continues down the river.

And Then There Was the Algoma Sault

It wasn't too long before the next ship appeared.

I think the Algoma Sault was coming down from Goderich.
Which likely means she had a load of salt.
She was heading to Ogdensburg, New York.  That is roughly halfway between where the St. Lawrence River picks up from Lake Ontario and Montreal.
I think that would be roughly 2 days from this point.
The water streams were coming down from the water being used to help prevent hogging on her deck.
When it gets warm, ships will hog.  Crews will try to reduce that by washing down the deck.
She starts to make the turn for the river.
It was still pretty windy, so I wasn't able to get any drone shots.

The head on shot.
She turns for the channel.
There were quite a few trucks.
And almost straight on shot.
A shot of her pilothouse.
Another one.
And she continues down the river.

And the Algoma Sault

This would be the last ship of the day for me.  There were a couple more downbound but it would be a while before the passed Belle Isle and I wanted to do some other things.  Plus at this point, I had used all the batteries in my drone.

Anyway, the Algoma Sault was coming over from Calumet.
I think she would have been carry stone but I'm not sure.
She was heading up to the Rouge River.
I think she was heading to the part where stone is delivered.
But she could also be carrying pet coke.
Anyway, I couldn't use my drone at this point because I had used all my batteries.
That's not too bad, considering I caught 6 ships and I even hovered for one while I was taking pictures of another one.
I figured I got about a half hour from each battery.  Maybe I might have gotten more if it wasn't so windy.
At this point, it was just as well that I couldn't use my drone because the winds were really starting to pick up.
Unfortunately, I couldn't time my shots to get some decent wave pictures.
The almost beam shot.
And the beam shot.
She continues down the river.
One more shot of her.  She shows her home port and that happens to be her name.
