My SSCS Gift

On Christmas day I got to open my gift I received from Maria as part of Chookyblues SSCS.

I opened up my parcel from Maria last on Christmas Day and look at the looked hexagon bag she has stitched for me.

Inside were these decorations she has also made

And I also got this little pouch with none other than chocolates in it ..... yummy

I would like to thank Chookyblue for holding this fabulous swap again and also to Maria for the lovely gifts.

Another Christmas Swap Gift Sent

Another swap I participated in was one held in the Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap group on Facebook.
We were to make something with a hexagon in it.

I got to send to the lovely Sue Coleman in Australia, and I sent her this hexagon table mat.

As I have previously said on other blog posts, I was working over Xmas on nightshift and on our ward we bought some Christmas cheer this year by wearing some Christmas scrubs.

The patients loved them and some said the place was more cheerful for them over Christmas.

By my third night I was dead tired but still bringing the Christmas cheer with other nurses and doctors.

Now I have a few days off and back into it over New Years again.

SSCS 2017 Gift Sent

Well I hope you all had a lovely Christmas Day, though some off you around the world are still celebrating it.  Here in New Zealand it is now Boxing day and a day to eat a lot of leftovers too.

Over the next few days I will be showing you gifts sent and received for a couple of swap I have been in for Christmas this year.

First up I got to send to the lovely Michell Ridgway for the annual SSCS Chookyblue holds each year.

First up she got to open up the ornament I made for her when the parcel arrived.

Then the wait till Christmas day to open up the main parcel.

I made her this table runner.  I love this pattern and each time I make it I always have to think about it for some reason or another and if I am tired it pays not to attempt it I have found.

By the time you read this I will be fast asleep as have been on night shift the last three nights, but now have got till New Years Eve off, so time to spend with family.

Some Winnings

I entered 19 items in the local A&P show this year, the most I have ever done and came out with seven placings.... four 1sts, two 2nds and a 3rd.

I got 1st placings with my Tomato Relish which is from the handy Edmonds Cookbook and this year entered some Pesto too and I found this recipe online.

I also entered my Christmas stitchery that I had just finished which is C\called 'Jolly Santa' by Natalie Bird at The Birdhouse.  I picked this kit up at JJ Crafts when visiting there a couple of years ago.

I also made this table topper and again got a first.  The free tutorial I found was from Sister Of The Divide and called the Candy Corn Table Topper.  I was simple to make and I learnt how to do mitered corners on a hexagon finally.

I entered this oven mitt last year and got nowhere so was able to enter it again this year and it got 2nd ....yay!

This cross stitch that I got 2nd for was one I had done a while ago and reframed recently.  There were some lovely pieces on display this year.

I also made a stitchery that had been sitting in a box for a while into a cushion and this came 3rd

There were others I had entered and came nowhere this year and if I don't use them I may enter them again next year.

One was this beanie

And a bag made from French General fabric using a pattern I found on Pinterest and the pattern can be found here

For the first time I entered some baking but alas did not get anywhere this time but will keep on trying.

I had good intentions to start some knitting on Friday night.
I bought some wool, have plenty of needles and even have pattern books, but I thought why not look online for another pattern.

Well that was my night gone with both Ralvery and Pinterest

Oh well will try again next month

FNWF Update

Wahoo, I finally got to join in FWNF .... no work till tomorrow

I have a few projects I need to complete by this week for the A&P Show here in Gisborne and one is this Christmas wall hanging I bought as a kit a couple of years ago and it is finally finished.

Also today hubby and I went for a drive up the East Coast for lunch at the Te Puka Tavern in Tokomaru Bay and my lunch was yummy even though I only got wedges

The view out the window was great

We then when further up the road to the Tokomaru Bay Wharf as I hadn't been there for about three years to find it now closed

The view back into Tokomaru Bay

When On a Cruise Do Not Leave your Phone Alone

Last month I went on my first cruise. Only 3 nights long was good as a got a bit sea sick but resolved with dry toast and meds.

Was the biggest boat I have ever been on and my friend from Gisborne and 6 others were ready to board in Auckland on a lovely spring day.

Not quite the Titanic but the board walk was a reminder to me of it

Leaving Auckland all my friend wanted to hear was the horns going and she got her wish but we had to remind her it aint the Love Boat ....lol

First night we found the best bar and it was cocktail time or for me mocktail at this stage.

People also learnt fast do not leave your phone alone even to go to the toilet or have a sleep.
These gals were my room mates and were a great bunch.

I have been nice and only put the tame pics up, but no ones phone was safe.
