I'm behind on editing my cake photos again so I'm down to slim pickings for posting...but I like this cake so I don't feel like you're getting gypped!
It's just a simple square cake covered with blue fondant, topped with a fabulous orange gum paste bow, and decorated with white polka dots.
What better way to say "happy birthday" than with a cake that looks as good as the gift pile! And it tastes SOOOO much better.

Quick and Beautiful Christmas Cakes
Ok, folks. Christmas is quickly approaching. If you've thought about bringing a festive cake to your family celebration, you better get baking soon!
But you don't have to spend hours and hours on a cake for it to look gorgeous, elegant, and Christmas-y!
Make a cake that looks like a gift!
Here's one I did for my friend Nikki's office holiday party:
It's a simple buttercream-iced cake with a fondant bow. You could slap that together in a couple of hours, right?!
Here's a close-up of the bow and the gift tag:
Next up, here's a display cake I made for the showroom. It's covered with fondant and airbrushed gold. Again, the bow is made out of fondant.
Here's a similar concept, where the cake was covered in white fondant and topped with a big loopy gift bow. Here, you have to have a little more time because each of those loops has to completely dry before you can assemble the bow.
And, if you're feeling particularly ambitious or you're trying to feed a small army, here's some inspiration for you:
That's 4 cakes covered in white fondant and decorated with blue fondant box tops, ribbons, and bows.
Will you be making a cake for your get-together this week?

Ivory Gift Packages Cake
If you've ever been to the bakery, you've seen our show cake that looks like a bunch of gift packages. It's a stunning cake - very elegant and sophisticated! It would be perfect for so many occasions - a holiday party, wedding, anniversary party, etc. It's huge and really makes a statement.
Well, a couple of weeks ago, a bride specifically requested that we replicate that show cake for her wedding.
It took a full day just to decorate this beast, and two full-grown men to carry it into the reception hall.
This cake is great if you need an idea for how to decorate a gift box cake. Each box was decorated in a different manner and 5 different bow styles!
This was an 8-inch round cake sitting on top of a 10-inch square cake...which was sitting on a 12-inch square cake...which was sitting on a large rectangular cake...phew! Also notice bow #1 with wide bow loops.
And here, you have a 6-inch round cake with bow #2 (extremely thin bow loops) on a 8-inch square cake with bow #3. The square cake is actually twice as tall as a normal cake!
I love this little pouch. There's a cupcake hidden inside!
This is an aerial view of the cake, and you can see bow #4 on the mini package to the left and bow #5 front and center!
