Good Reads

I want to read some good parenting books about raising babies/children, methods for getting them on a schedule and so on.
I have more time on my hands than normal, being as I don't have a job or anything but should be studying for my big test:) The only book I really know about is Baby Wise but I have heard/read about some controversial things regarding the all of the methods & I don't know if I fully support all of their ideas either. I have been looking online but haven't really found what I am looking for.

What books have any of you mothers read or heard about that are good to read that fall along those lines?

The hospital mentioned "Happiest Baby on the Block" which sounded pretty good? Has anyone read it?

Just a little bump in the road

It is funny how a pregnancy can bring on so many new experiences! Some of which being totally unexpected. It was a shock to me when 3 weeks ago I had a little spotting (it was barely anything really) but I thought I should call the doctor's office just to be safe since we were planning to move the next week. They told me they wanted me to get a stat ultrasound just to make sure that everything was okay. I was fine with that but I kind of waited around for them to tell me to come in all day & then rushed over to the Ahwatukee office when they wanted me to go. It was so fun to see the baby move around on the big flat screen they had & to see that "He/She" had arms & legs and what seemed to be everything that should be there. But they also found that I had a hemorrhage next to my uterus as well:( The doctor wasn't my normal one but he was super nice and told me that it was a pretty common occurrence which made me feel good & that it was really small. But then he said I couldn't lift or exercise, etc & that I had to put my feet up more for the next 2 weeks or it could make me bleed more & I could lose our little person!

Yeah it wasn't the best news since I was packing & leaving for Cali in 1 week. I am kind of a busy body and to lay around when I feel fine was torture, especially when I had to watch everyone else go through my junk and pack everything up for me & unpack everything for me. I did rest because of course I wanted our baby to be okay but I think it was one of the least fun things I have had to go thru in my life. I much rather do things myself or help someone else do it then to have someone do it for me:)

We went to the doctor today (who I don't like & I need to find another one) and he said that everything looks better and that with one more week (which will make it 1 month since they found it) I can pick things back up again! Hurray:) I can't wait to do at least a little cardio & get back into the swing of things since my original dream was to be Mrs. Fit Mom during my pregnancy. Oh well! Life happens & I have learned to be alittle more easy going & maybe that is what I need to continue to learn throughout this pregnancy! At least I am feeling fine, my baby is healthy, I am not sick the entire time & I am not on bedrest. I know I have so much to be grateful for & I know so many women who are complete troopers and go through so much to bring their sweet babies into this life. I am so grateful for all the help that was rendered my family members & the new members of our ward here. Everyone has been so loving & helpful in our move, I don't know how we could have made this move without everyone's support! So thanks again to family & friends, we miss you all so much.

Here is a little pic of our babe a few weeks ago, it's the typical "Alien baby"shot, but I still love it & love being able to almost see it's little face & hands.
It's crazy how much I already love this little guy/girl:)

More posts to come of getting settled here in Cali!

The Big Cupcake Surprise

It all started with a delicious looking cupcake....

that had an interesting message....

The "2" sign is because they will have 2 grandkids, I was confused at first and thought he was doing the peace sign for some reason:)

Surprise! We are so excited that we FINALLY get to announce that we will have a new babe January 12th!

I can't wait to find out if it will be a "surfer dude" or "beach babe" yet!
(since we will be in California after all)

Another fun part of it is that my brother & sister in law are due a week after me! It will be so fun to have close cousins, and who knows! Maybe she will come before me.

Here is some fun footage of some of the reactions we got-
(I am sad to say I missed getting the Freeman's reaction, it wasn't as easy to be sneaky with the camera with them)

Blake & Ashley's reaction as we moved in Doug & Sarah into their new apt, hence all the boxes-
