Neighborhood Date: The Mission

I knew I needed to up the ante this weekend as it was Father's Day weekend.
Matt had been excellent to me on Mother's Day and I needed to plan a Hus friendly date to repay him.
Sidebar: We get that we have no real life human babies. We like to think taking care of Pickles is plenty reason to celebrate our parenting skills at this point in our lives.
We started with a walk in the sun over the massive Nob Hill hills for the annual North Beach festival.
We wandered around, laughed at the strange booths, picked up some just popped Kettle corn and grabbed a few pieces of authentic Italian pizza to enjoy in Washington Square Park.
From there we grabbed the bus and were carted back to Pickles.
Next, we found ourselves in Noe Valley at the Public Library for a comic book illustration class.
Little known fact: Hus is a closet artist. He draws me things on a weekly basis and even made a coming book for me about when I was on the FDIC. I also carried around a drawing he made for me which had a picture of me with about three wisps on hair, a giant FDIC badge and a suit with a bubble saying "I'm here to shut down your bank bitches".
I was skeptical but I think I had more fun than Matt did.
We learned about perspective, story lines and character development.
Matt's finished product was about a kid who didn't want to do homework and mine was about a ballerina and a robot (it was the only thing my super simple character looked like, don't judge).
From there we embarked on our fourth neighborhood date: the Mission.
We started with one of my favorite Mission gems, 826 Valencia.
The only real life pirate store in the state.
From there we continued on our theme of strange stores and went into Paxton Gate, a taxidermy store.
Somehow the two of these took well over an hour so we quickly made our way to dinner at Urban Burger.
Before we ate, we made a pit stop at one of the  Mission's famous mural stops, Balmy Alley.
Like I said, Matt loves art and couldn't get over the amazing murals that awaited us.

There was even a hippie artist painting a new one.
After dinner, we dropped off our goodies and grabbed our blankets for our second movie in the park.
There was construction in the original spot which has a massive hill to block the wind so we were met with fierce winds and a fog wall that ominously descended on the group.
Jen joined us right before the featured movie, Caddyshack, started and we all shared cookies and popcorn for the rest of the movie as the hosts tried to keep the screen from blowing over.

We ran to our cars after it ended and blasted the heat in Pickles as we made our way home from a successful Father's Day.

.:Happy Father's Day Hus:.
