Father & Son's camp out

Last Friday night was the Stake Father & Son's camp out. Marshyl took Kaiden, Nic and Luke. We don't think Garrett is quite old enough to appreciate a camp out yet. They camped up at Koholowo in Payson Canyon and had a blast!

a hiking we will go...

Tree tipping. Helping out Mother Nature by pushing over the dead quakies so that they can't get hit by lightening and start a forest fire.

Views from the top.

Quite a few people brought their hammocks and slept out. Kaiden slept out in his, but Marsh and the other boys slept in the tent. It rained that night, so Marshyl and the boys were nice and dry and Kaiden remembered his tarp to go over him, so he was dry too. Not many others were as lucky!

Healthy candy...

Afton and Luke told me that they have decided to "only eat healthy food for a whole month. Healthy candy...healthy cookies...healthy fruit..."!

They are definitely kids after my own heart! Maybe we need a few more lessons on the definition of "healthy".

Breakfast

Luke decided that he wanted to make pancakes for breakfast today. He has helped Nic in the past and he made banana bread successfully (mostly) by himself a couple of weeks ago. So to told him to go ahead. I wasn't paying any attention to him and he would come and ask me if he had questions, so I assumed that everything we going well. He finished and although a little burned, they looked okay, so we sat down to eat.

Immediately after their first bites, the kids all started gagging and saying how horrible the pancakes were. I'm thinking..."they look okay, how bad can the REALLY be?" So I try a bite. Okay...they were the WORST pancakes I have ever tasted. They were WAY too salty. So I asked Luke to show me how much salt he put in and he went over to the 1/2 c. measuring cup and held it up! I got down the recipe and tried to explain that "tsp" is teaspoon, so he needed 1/2 tsp., not 1/2 c. He said, "I knew that, but I couldn't find the teaspoon, so I used that instead"! Come to find out he used the 1/2 c. for the baking soda too! YUCK! THAT was the horrible taste. All we could do this morning was toss the pancakes and have yogurt for breakfast instead. I guess we need a few more cooking lessons before I turn him loose in the kitchen alone again!

Luke's baptism

Luke turned 8 in October and on Nov. 1st was baptized by his dad. We are so proud of him and we had a great day celebrating and spending time with the families. We had lunch in the back of the church as the pavilion. It was a beautiful day for being outside. It didn't even feel like November...it was close to 70 degrees. We had taco soup, salad, rolls, and lots of cookies and doughnuts for dessert.

Aren't they handsome?!

My dad, my brother, my mom and short ol' me.

Aunt Miriam & Garrett.

Here we are eating. Look at me scarfing that doughnut! Yikes!

Like mother like daughters...need I say more? :)

Luke's 8th Birthday!

Luke turned 8 on Oct. 3rd! I can't believe he is that old already! He will be baptized on Nov. 1st. We are so proud of him. He is such a good help with the girls and he loves to play with them. He also loves putting together Bionicles with his brothers. It's hard being the youngest of the big boys, but he does great! We spent Luke's birthday in Scofield at the cabin with Grandma & Grandpa Cloward. Luke wanted to go up and fish one more time this year. They went fishing, but didn't catch anything. They still had fun visiting, singing songs and doing the "fish dance".

Here he is ready to blow out the candles on his birthday breakfast orange rolls.

Dad made him this sign.

He got a new Bionicle! And Kensi was on hand to help him open the present if he needed it. We actually had to hide all of the presents or Kensi would have opened them all. We found that out the hard way over the last few birthdays...

Birthday cake!
He told me exactly what he wanted for his cake and it turned out really cute! That is a gummy bat...he ate the whole thing!

Make a wish...
(don't ask me why Nic has an arrow stuck to his head...I have given up asking those
types of questions around here.)

Luke's Bionicles

The boys love Bionicles. Lately Luke has spent hours creating new characters. He was especially proud of this one. Good job, Luke!
