Easter Greetings

still averaging a card a week... grrr. i'm thinking i need to work on my priorities!! i made this easter card finally, which has been in my head for the last 2 weeks or so. the paper is rayner and i took apart a plastic flower stem and put the petals together, and added a couple of buds. the tag i made myself, and i did a bit of stitching in pink. the inspiration is from the lovely sketch from 2 sketches 4 you this week. i think it's so nice that the ladies there take the time to comment on the submitted cards; its such a nice added bonus, i think!

i leave you with a pic of what we did this weekend. festival season has begun! here's the boy devouring enjoying an extremely greasy, and equally yummy, semi-traditional lunch. we were at the annual easter festival at one of the squares.
it's another gorgeous warm, sunny day here today, so i'm off for my walk! enjoy your day!

Grateful For You

we went to menza last night for dinner and i had my usual - pumpkin soup and grilled goat cheese salad, yummy. i also had a lemonade (pronounced lemonaaadeh) which is a lemonade with lemon, lime and orange slices in it. most restaurants here have a version of it, and i plan to consume as many as i can this spring/summer! we walked there and back; so nice that the warm evenings are here now!

the boy* (as in bf, partner, so, fh, boytoy, etc) and i were celebrating our anniversary. in addition to dinner out, i got 2 bunches of flowers. the poor guy had no idea what was in store for him when he left his simple, routine life in the netherlands, and it's been quite a ride so far! and although our cultural differences surprised us both many times, i am very grateful for all that he does and he does work very hard for us, in many different ways. here's the card i made for him:
the paper is from a spring mini kit freebie from kevinandamanda. the paper is actually teal but i used the colour balance in photoshop to add more blue, then darkened it using levels. the ribbon i bought here, the brad came with a kit, and the border punch is fiskars. the "grateful" is my handwriting and i put it together in indesign and printed it directly on the kraft paper. we just bought a new printer (epson stylus photo px700w) which i'm liking a lot so far. the inspiration is from this week's sketch at 2 sketches 4 you.

thanks for looking!

*he's younger than me, i called him that from the beginning and it's stuck :)

New Stuff

thanks everyone for your sweet comments and understanding re: my last blog post, it's very much appreciated! when i was working i was good at multi-tasking, but i was always the type that got more done the busier i was! and as it now seems that i won't be working for a while (for good reasons!! more to come on that later...) i had better get used to it, and hopefully better at getting stuff done :)

in other news, i found a new scrapbook store here!! online shopping is convenient, but there's still something very pleasing about actually seeing the stuff in real life, fondling feeling the textures of the ribbon, drooling over touching the paper, etc. it's a german company, so some of the products are different from that which you'd find in na. this is what i bought:
but the best part is that i made a new blogging friend!! the very lovely mesi was extremely helpful and patient helping me find the exact shade of purple paper for wedding invitations that i am making for my cousin's daughter's wedding! you can check out her lovely blog here.

so all-in-all, it was a pretty good day! is this a great hobby or what?

Best of Luck

okay, so i'm the worst blogger ever. i have realized that i cannot easily switch from doing one thing to another, that i need enough time to start and finish a project, or whatever it is i need to do. and while i think that i just need to accept myself that way, i also would like to change this because life just doesn't work that way, to give me enough time to finish something before doing something else. this is why i have some days in a row when i make lots of cards, because i can focus on that and be creative. but if other stuff is going on, i find i can't switch back and forth. but i want (have to) to work on that. :)

anyway, that's how it's going these days. i did make a card this evening, though :) i am combining two challenges (this is the first time i've ever done that - everyone's doin' it, right?) the inspiration is from the gorgeous tuesday trigger and moxie fab world, and the lovely sketch from 2 sketches 4 you.
i made the tag, added some ribbon and lace and used my sewing machine for the first time since getting it "repaired." now the zigzag works well (which wasn't working before) but i can't get the right setting for the straight stitch!! any tips/ideas?

thanks for dropping by, and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Embroidered Hearts

moxie fab world has another awesome challenge going on right now "let's have some fun with floss." be sure to check out the gorgeous samples on the site. i love embroidery floss; been using it since i was a kid. here's my card: i traced 5 hearts on cardstock lightly in pencil, then punched holes with the paper piercer. i erased the pencil lines, then stitched the hearts using 6 ply thread. it took some time and my fingers were so sore because i had a tough time getting the needle through the holes! i added a strip of ribbon and a button with red thread through it. the rub on is jenni bowlin "old school alpha minis."

thanks for looking!

For You Stickers

ETA- i am surprised, honoured and absolutely thrilled that my card won the "stuck on you" challenge at caardvarks!! thanks so much caardvarks; i can't wait to play with my new SRM stickers!!

i made a card using stickers for the current caardvarks challenge.
everything on this card is basic grey, except for the ribbon. i love these papers and the embellies, but the letters are a bit huge. and i have 2 sheets of them so i have no idea what i will do with them.

the temps are going up (15 c) so it feels as though spring is finally on it's way! i have started walking again everyday, but it's raining today so i don't really feel like going out. but i walked twice yesterday, so i think it's okay :) have a great weekend!

Anniversary Card

another lovely sketch at cardpatterns this week! here's my take on it: the paper and circle are from the basic grey lemonade collection. the lace was flat so i gathered it a bit, did some hand stitching and added a strip of ribbon; both are a pale yellow. the rub-on is melissa frances. thanks for visiting!
