Papillon Potpourri x 2

Hello, stamping friends! I have the fourth card from my recent class to share today. It uses some of my most favorite new products- the Papillon Potpourri stamp set and the coordinating Elegant Butterfly punch! As a bonus, I have a "stepped up" version of my class card just to show you an easy way to take your project to a new level by adding a couple of elements. Here is the class version...

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamps: Papillon Potpourri, Sweet Essentials
Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Baja Breeze, Summer Starfruit, Whisper White
Ink: Elegant Eggplant, Baja Breeze, Summer Starfruit
Accessories: Big Shot, Fancy Fan EF, Scallop Trim border punch, Elegant Butterfly punch, basic pearls

I think this was my favorite card that we made at the class. I absolutely LOVE this color combination, which came straight from the Color Coach. I liked these colors together immediately and have been looking for the perfect card to showcase them. I think they work wonderfully on this card. If you don't have a Color Coach, I highly recommend it. If I am stuck on a card, I pull it out and look for combinations that would work for the card I have in mind. There have been several times that I have tried a combination that I was pretty unsure of, but I loved the completed card. The Color Coach won't steer you wrong! :)

And here is the "stepped up" version of the card...

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamps: Papillon Potpourri, Sweet Essentials
Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Baja Breeze, Summer Starfruit, Whisper White
Ink: Elegant Eggplant, Baja Breeze, Summer Starfruit
Accessories: Big Shot, Adorning Accents edgelits, Paper Piercing Kit, Mat Pack, Paper Piercer, basic rhinestones

I added a banner for the sentiment and used rhinestones rather than pearls to give it more sparkle and shine. I also skipped the embossing and used paper piercing instead. I love the look of paper piercing, but I have found that it is a little bit time consuming for a class setting.

I hope you liked the cards! I have one more set of cards to show you and they will post tomorrow, so be sure to check back then! Thanks for stopping by!

PS- I apologize for my pictures lately. This card was particularly difficult to photograph because I kept getting terrible shadows from the popped up butterflies. Add to that the fact that I am trying to learn Photoshop, and the pictures really didn't turn out great. I will keep working on getting better pictures and doing a better job editing them. Thanks for being patient with me! :)

July Blog Hop

Hey there! It's time once again for the Stylin' Stampin' Squad Blog Hop! The theme this month is America, Canada or Birthday. I hope you enjoy my projects!

In keeping with our themes this month, I made a card that could be used for July 4th or it could be a birthday card or welcome home card for a soldier or veteran.

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamps: Topsy Turvy Celebration, Blast Off
Paper: Night of Navy, Real Red, Whisper White, Brights DSP stack
Ink: Night of Navy, Real Red (pad and marker), Basic Gray marker
Accessories: Big Shot, Stripes EF, white taffeta ribbon, rhinestones, white gel pen, homemade shimmer spray

Patriotic themed cards are a little bit tricky because we don't have a lot of current products that make stars, but we do have a brand new stamp set (Blast Off) that has a little flag. That is what I used to make the topper for my cake. I drew stripes onto the flag stamp using my Real Red marker and then stamped. I cut out a small square of Night of Navy cardstock for the flag's blue panel and made little white dots for the stars using my white gel pen. Here is a closeup of the flag...

My 3D project could have many different uses. They could be hung for decorations at a birthday party or July 4th barbeque. They could be put on a stick and used as a cake topper or party favor. They could also be used as a bow on top of a wrapped present.

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamps: None
Paper: Summer Smooches DSP
Ink: None
Accessories: Simply Scored, Simply Scored diagonal plate, In Color brads, Brights buttons, white bakers twine, mat pack, paper piercer

These were very quick and simple to make. I started with 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" squares of DSP (but any size square would work). I made a diagonal score line from corner to opposite corner and then turned the paper 90 degrees and repeated. I then cut along the score lines until I was about one inch from the center. I folded the tips into the center and secured them with a brad that I placed using the paper piercer and mat pack. The first pinwheel also has a button attached to the center using glue dots.

That's all I have to share! I kept my post nice and short so that you could quickly move on to the other amazing projects. I hope you enjoy them! Please try to leave some comments along the way. They are very encouraging to all of us! Thanks and happy hopping!

ColorQ + Retro Sketches

Hi all! I haven't exactly kept up with my stamping everyday challenge. Life gets busy sometimes. I am stamping when I can and here is my most recent creation. I used the challenges at ColorQ and Retro Sketches for this one.

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamps: Raining Flowers, Friendly Phrases
Paper: Crumb Cake, Night of Navy, Rich Razzleberry, Bashful Blue, Whisper White
Ink: Crumb Cake, Night of Navy, Rich Razzleberry, Bashful Blue
Accessories: Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots EF, Scallop Border Punch, Crumb Cake seam binding, basic pearls, dimensionals, SAMJ

Somehow, in all of my stacks and stacks of DSP, I didn't have any in Bashful Blue, so I tried making my own. I haven't done this much before, but it turned out OK. It required the used of the Stamp-a-ma-jig and a little time, but that paper just needed a little something extra.

I hope you like my card. Check out the challenges and try to play along...
