Getting ready.
Lots of preparations are beginning for the boy (who still doesn't have a name by the way.) My biggest decision is to stroller or not to stroller. I have a perfectly good stroller that Lily (for the most part) still sits in just fine. She does NOT do so well out of a stroller yet. She is a wanderer that girl. So my dilemma is this.
Do I get this? The stand/sit option for a stroller.I have read some mixed reviews.
Or should I go with thisComfy and cozy for the boy, but the thought of having to get him out of the car seat all the time doesn't really appeal to me, but the price difference does. SO. What do you think? Please discuss.

I'd save your money and kick Lily out of the stroller when you absolutely need it for the baby... or maybe get a double side-by-side for exercise. I didn't have any luck at all with the New Native sling thingy I bought--I was so much happier with the Bjorn. And the baby will be in his carseat for the first three months when you're out and about anyway... my friend Tanya had one of those step strollers and loved it, but she went to the zoo in CS every week and Reagan got really tired from hiking up the mountain!
All this to say, maybe wait and see after the baby is born so you aren't stuck with something you decide you don't really need, or need something different you don't have and have already spent the gear budget for : )
I'd be tempted to get an old school double stroller, but only if Thor (ha, sorry!) is a baby car seat carrier-lovin little guy...and if he will sleep in the car seat from car to stroller, life is good for you - then get a double stroller and they will both be contained!! If he hates his car seat, then a bjorn would be good with the stroller you have now! E is probably right, maybe wait and see what he likes! One thing I've noticed with my sister's kids is that even when they get older, even ages 4 or 5 they like to crash in the stroller when their "legs" are tired! haha! But take into consideration that I am someone who likes stollers with room for diaper bags, shopping bags, and diet coke! haha! ;)
I was a different mama with different needs for each kid.
1. James was in a car seat and traditional stroller. He also was Bjorn'ed around.
2. E was strolled some, but also spent a fair amount of time in the Ergo. We bought a sit n' stand stroller and got some use out of it. We slightly regretted getting it until we lived closer to Disneyland! We called it our theme park stroller because it was so useful there. I agree with Elizabeth that it is also still useful for zoos and such.
3. Ollie lived in his sling for the first 9 months. I can think of maybe 2 times that we took the car seat out of the car to carry him around. With 2 other kids' hands to hold and to corral, the sling was what I needed and happily Ollie loved it.
my answer is not helpful: it depends. But I also think that things tend to work out so whatever you think will help you the most, go with that.
Hi Marie,
My recent experience suggests this: Wait until the baby comes, then try all the apparatus to see what works. Among your friends, you can probably find a sit and stand to try out, a side by side, and a front back. See which fits your space (house, grocery etc), is easy to store, and so forth.
The same with the carriers. I thought we might do well with the moby wrap, but I think I'm too tall for it. I like the sling, but I don't think Jonah will be long in it. I like the Bjorn, but I am a control freak like that.
As others have said, there's time after the baby comes. And, my word, use all the mama resources you have now. Ask lots of questions too.
Just ideas though, j
We just purchased a Maclaren twin for our new arrival. The seats recline individually and there is ample storage under each child. BabyDealz.com is where we bought it. It was a pretty good sale. With this side by side, Lily can sit up but be restrained and Thor can lie down and sleep the mall away. They are EXTREMELY easy to steer! And the handles are tall enough that Brian can help me push! We too have been shopping around since we found out we were expecting #2. We did look at the sit and stands. The Maclaren folds up like an umbrella, that was a pretty big factor too! Good luck!
I agree with the consensus.
Wait. Borrow. Try out.
We have done it three ways. ;)
We have had three who HATED the car seat, so any excuse to get out of it was welcome. The sling or Bjorn helps tons with more than one set of hands to hold.
We frequently took our little sling stroller everywhere, even if no one was in it, in order to have some place to put coats, hats, bags, etc.
From my own personal experience, for the time being, I would go with the Bjorn and stroller. Jordyn is a Spring baby, and I had her in the Bjorn until Fall. It was such a life saver. Connor got to stay in the stroller and Jordyn felt completely happy snuggled in next to me. We have the double stroller (not one he can stand in, and it is great now that J is bigger, but it is such a pain to steer. Good luck!
Here's my 2 cents- the Bjorn is awesome with a single, but down the road, a double will be useful as already mentioned when on long outdoor outings- I had no luck with any other type of aparatus to hold smaller babies and deal with toddlers. IN summary, buy a double, keep your Bjorn handy.
When's this little guy coming again??
Sling for Baby *Thor* with stroller for L or double stroller for both. I think it probably depends on what you already have. With L being such a curious girl it looks like she ends up in a stroller either way:) I'd start with what you have cause it's cheaper!
I had Maya in the Bjorn all the time. When the little comes in June, I am very excited about my sit and stand stroller. I have been looking at them even since before I was pregnant. Plus the infant carrier snaps into it. So- I'll be using both:)
I'm with the wait until baby comes crowd!
Evan would have nothing to do with the sling and Erin LOVES it!
The sling has been a life saver for her.
And she hated her car seat for the first five months of her life so the stroller just did not work (but it does now!)
Evan loved his stroller.
I have friends who have used the stand/ride stroller thing and loved it though.
I also know this - I wish I would not have invested in a new baby crib mobile for Erin because she hates them!! :0p
I had both babies in slings constantly (we used the Bjorn, too but it killed my back!)! When time gets closer to new baby arriving, I plan on getting a Hotsling, I have heard they are SO much more comfortable than what I used to use. When Aislin and Declan got older, I had a jog double stroller because they were both about the same size.. not practical for anywhere except zoo, parks, etc.
We had a Graco double stroller for the boys, and I drove it until the wheels fell off. I have had a Bjorn since Harrison was born but really didn't use it a lot w/ Charlie/ Don't know why. However, I am using it all the time now w/ Audrey. I have heard great things about the step strollers, but Lily is still pretty young, you might want more of a seat for her. Just a thought.
locked and loaded! I would say wait until baby comes- if you have an infant car seat that snaps in and out of the car- that will work while you are trying to walk with a toddler and a much larger diaper bag. Riley liked to help push brady in the stroller so at least I could keep tabs on him. but now that you have a mini van you have the room for a double stroller of some sore. i didn't have much luck with the front carrier or the sling.
