Portrait of Little Pamala

Little Pamala with her Mother outside their home in Planaltina, Brazil

Little Pamala not Looking to Happy at the Moment
Little Pamala turns her head at just the wrong time.
Little Pamala, makes it hard for me to take her Portrait. I, along with my wife have been going to her house for the last few weeks on a remodeling project to helping poor people fix up their homes to improve the quality of their lives. Maybe next week I can photography her with her two other sisters

Little Washington

Little Washington Front and Center with his two Older Brothers
Little Washington, that's the name of the little boy seated there with his two older brothers. This pass year has been an eye opening experience for me working with the poor in Brazil. Planaltina, Brazil to be exact. Proverbs 19:17 If you help the poor, you are lending to the LORD--and he will repay you!
I pray that these three little guys will get all the help they need both physically and materially with plenty of food and clean water but also spiritually with the saving Gospel of  Jesus Christ.

Who Will Help The Poor?

Young mother Erarra , with her baby Isaac, and her Aunt Celina

While picking mango the other day I stumbled across this group of ladies (there were two more not pictured) and five babies. Two of the babies I was told were only 13 days old. They even let me hold one of them, the little guy in the top photo in yellow, his name is Isaac. Every year around Christmas time these poor people come from different parts of Brazil, and converge on Brasilia, in hope that people will take pity on them and give them gifts, mainly, food and clothing. When I ask them how I could help them they said they just needed clothes for the babies. About that time three cars pull up and a guy named Cristiano got out with his family and some other people with gift for the little ones and food. He told me that every year at his place of work he ask his co-worker for donations of food and clothing for the poor that come to Brasilia, every year. He said that this year not a lot of people wanted to come with him as in previous years. When I asked him why he said that a lot of his friends and co-workers are scared of these people. It made me realize that in life we hold back and don't do things because of fear. I pray that in 2015 I will not let fear stop me from doing what God has planned for my life.  2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Matthew 26:11 You will always have the poor among you.

Mila & Gleisa

Mila
Gleisa
These are two of my friends that live on the streets in Brasilia. Just about everyday I see them when I'm going to work and I always pray that someday their situation might change. I've never had to opportunity to take their portrait until the other day. They were more than happy to oblige, and being typical women, they were of coursed concerned about how their hair looked. Mila is married and can not walk very well because she has a bad right knee. So, she's always sitting on the hard concrete trying to sell Jewelry that her husband makes but tells me she doesn't sell much. Gleisa, unlike Mila, is not married and tells me she eats whatever scraps local food vendors throw out. I meet her one night after it was raining and she drying her feet off with some newspapers she had found in the trash. Neither women have ever ask me for anything but occasionally I'll give them some money or buy them a cup of coffee or a snack.  The Bible says you will always have the poor and weak with you. So, I know I can't help everyone just the ones I believe God has placed in my path.

Planaltina de Goiás

Me and my Best Friend.

Young mother with baby outside a class were they teach them how to be better mothers .
Bye for now and hope to see you soon!
They say, the best camera you have is the one you have with you at time. Such is the case in these photos. I didn't have time to grab my trusty 40D and speedlite so I had to make do with what I had...my ipad camera. Well, it actually was a good lesson for me in more ways than one. For one thing, at least I did have a camera with me and was still able to inter act with these kids and have fum with them, though I keep thinking I wish I had my regular camera with me. These photos are from kids who live in a poor community outside of Brasilia, Brazil called Planaltina. Where once a month a local church from Brasilia, goes and teaches them about God, prays for them, listens to their problems and distributes food to them. In Mark 10 vs 14 Jesus said "Let the children come to me. Don't stop them. For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. Amen. I guess I'll never grow up then.

Família Aprasida

 Aprasida, with her children

Sisters, Neildes & Ana Carolina
I met this delightful family the other day while walking. They were more than happy to talk with me seeing how most people just ignore them or look down on them. The truth is, God, said in this word that you will always have the poor and weak with you. They might be poor but given the chance these kids could grow up to be Might Warriors for Christ and his Kingdom. Next time I see them I'll invite them over for dinner.

Proverbs 19:17 If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord--and he will repay you.

Proverbs 28:27 Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing. But a curse will come upon those who close their eyes to poverty.

Proverbs 22:9 Blessed are those who are generous, because they feed the poor.

Isaiah 58:10 Feed the hungry,
    and help those in trouble.
Then your light will shine out from the darkness,
and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.
