Like all big cities in the world theirs no shortage of Colorful Street Art from Street Performers trying to make a buck to Graffiti on selective street corners. I guess its part of the Rhythm of the city.

More Tourist on the Selaron Steps

View of the World Famous  Pão de Açúcar from atop Santa Teresa
I took a quick trip to vist Escadaria Selarón aka 'Selaron Steps and the Santa Teresa Neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro the other day. I really didn't know that this place existed in Rio as its over shadowed by the Christ the Redeener and Sugar loaf Mountain or Pão de Açúcar attractions not to mention the beaches. It's quite an interesting place to hang out and see a different part of Rio.

Rio by Night

Rio de Janeiro by Night with Christ the Redeemer Over Looking the City.

Rio de Janeiro by Night with Christ the Redeemer Over Looking the City
I couldn't decide which photo I liked best so I uploaded both of these. Definitely one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been too. I love the way the light is bouncing off the Christ the Redeemer Statue into the clouds as if to say, Jesus the Light of the World.

Cocounts

Coconuts R$4.00 Reais about $2.50 USD

French Tourist
I love coconuts, there very tasty, and there's nothing like sipping on an ice cold coconut while sitting on the beach and watching the french tourist go bye. My favorite place in Rio to buy one is at Guaraviton, on Copacabana beach, after drinking all the water out of it they'll cut it open for you so you can enjoy the delicious meat inside. Not all the places that sell coconut will do that for you but Guaraviton will.

Cargo Ships

Cargo ship from Spain

Two men counting the containers on the ship
In Rio de Janeiro, there is what seems to be an endless flow of cargo ships coming into port. Most of the time there are so many ships that they can not dock and unload their cargo and must remain out in the bay sometimes for days waiting for a space.

Pão de Açúcar from Above

Pão de Açúcar-on the Guanabara Bay-Rio de Janeiro
This spectacular view of  Pão de Açúcar in Rio de Janeiro, was taken from on top of Corovado Mountain. Clouds kept rolling in and out at times making it impossible to even see anything below which I thought made the view that much more interesting at times.

View of Pão de Açúcar

Pão de Açúcar

Pão de Açúcar

View of the incredible Pão de Açúcar in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It's a spectacular site from where ever you are in the city this photo was taken from Circulo Militar, what ever that is, but the view was great. There's a cable car that take you to the top at 1299ft above the harbor. This huge rock is made of granite and quartz and you can also climb it if you'd like. Me, I'll take the cable car up.

Edson, aka Pele, is busy brushing up on his soccer skills for the up coming World Cup. Though now retired he's hoping to make a few bucks dazzling the anticipated crowds that will descend upon Rio, with the skills that once made him a super star in the sport.

Group of Friends

Monnique seated, Anderson, Crislayne, & Hed Maria
I meet this group of kids or shall I say young people at the Manguinhos Public Libray in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which is situated in a Favela. This has to be the nicest group of kids I've ever met anywhere in my travels thus far. Never have I come across a group of young people with so much energy and excitement for life just look at their beautiful genuine smiles I think that says it all. I pray they will be all God wants them to be.

Christ the Redeemer

Christ the Redeemer Statue covered in clouds
Christ the Redeemer
Christ the Redeemer
Well, I finally found the real Christ the Redeemer Statue. It was hidden under the clouds way atop Corcovado Mountain.  The symbol of Christianity for all the world to see, the statue has become an icon for Rio de Janeiro and Brazil. It is also the largest Art Deco statue in the world and the 5ht largest statue of Jesus.

City Tour

Christ the Redeemer
Well on my self guided tour of Rio, on a rainy morning I finally found the Christ the Redeemer Statue that over looks the magnificent city of Rio de Janeiro. I thought it would be bigger and I didn't know it was made of sand. Funny how everything looks different on TV.

Tela Novela & Wedding

Tela Novela-Soap Opera
Wedding Shoot Ipanema Beach
Ipanema beach is a popular destination for photo shoots. One main reason is that as the sunsets you get a natural golden glow. On this particular day I came across five shoots going on, the taping of a Soap Opera, Wedding, and three fashion shoots. Note the people in background of the wedding shoot were doing a fashion shoot for a local clothing company.
