Skyy Hadley & Lauren B Beauty healthy nail polish take your summer mani/pedi up a notch!

Hi ya Gorgeous,
I'm busy at the San Diego Comicon with this that and the other ...in the meantime, please enjoy this mani/pedicure details with Skyy Hadley and Lauren B Beauty ( love their healthy polishes!)!

Summer time means mani/pedi time, right?! There are endless options for finding the perfect color combo, and these recommendations from Skyy Hadley and Lauren B. of Lauren B. Beauty will help steer you in the right direction for picking the best mani/pedi shades this summer!

·         Skyy Hadley recommends finding colors with undertones that compliment each other. Her favorite combinations for the best summer mani/pedi are:
o   Coral and taupe – this combination bounces off of any sun-tanned skin, whether bronze, brown or lightly tanned. This combination also doesn’t get dried out or look ashy after the 3rd or 4th day like many mixtures often tend to do. The coral is a summer staple and will bring you to a beachy, tropical island.
o   Flat gray with a shimmery gray – this understated, neutral combination gives just the right amount of sparkle and flash.
o   Emerald green with shimmery gold gives you a rich, sultry look with a hint of shine. This color combination is unexpected for summer but looks elegant and fun at the same time.
o   Vibrant hot pink and softer, sparkling pink – These colors will pop against any skin tone for a fun night out/party look for summer. This punchy color combo gives the ultimate summer vibe and defines girly glitz.
o   A warm milky brown contrasted with an orange-gold hue is the perfect combination for hot summer days to take you from the office to a night out. These shades play off sparkling sand or a beautiful summer sunset. The sun-kissed corporate mixture is flattering on all skin tones.

·         Lauren B. loves minimalistic nail designs, including color blocking, cut outs, geometric shapes, and even modern studding to create a modern twist on your manicure or pedicure. Blending neutrals with brighter pops of color allow for unique and fun combinations. Lauren B. recommends:

Happy Feet with Skyy Hadley and Lauren B Beauty!

Hi ya Gorgeous!
Quick note to share a guest post with you on how to get an amazing pedicure at home! This will save you some summer cash while getting you a party ready pedicure!

Enjoy!

·         Skyy Hadley, owner of As U Wish Salon, knows how walking around every day in the summer heat can take a toll on your feet. Pamper them with these at-home pedicure tips!

·         After removing nail polish and spraying feet with an antiseptic, soak feet in water and milk. Adding milk is a crucial step as water can strip skin of moisture and leave feet drier. Milk naturally exfoliates and nourishes the skin and it’s right in your refrigerator.
·         Lightly shape the toenails by cutting nails back slightly and massaging toes and feet with cream or oil. After feet have soaked for a few minutes, push back the cuticlesdo NOT cut them. Cutting them creates more hangnails and can even lead to infection.
·         Lightly buff the nail plate while it is still moist with a cuticle cream or conditioner. Then buff the skin on your feet by applying a foot scrub and massaging the formula deep into the skin, concentrating on trouble spots. To really smooth things over, use a diamond file (avoid pumices as they trap bacteria) on particularly rough patches like the heel and ball of the foot.

·         To maintain and prolong color, use a primer on the nails first. This step actually dehydrates the nail by bringing the natural oils out, making color grip longer. After applying color, add a top coat. Three days later, apply a top coat again to prevent color from chipping

How to get candy corn nails for holiday festivities

 Hey!
Holiday season is upon us whether we like it or not! So let's have a manicure to match!

Skyy Hadley, celebrity manicurist and owner of As U Wish Nail Salon designed this fun and funky "candy corn" nails manicure. Here's how to do it!

1.       Paint one half of the nail in white (Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Get Mod) and the other in yellow (Lauren B. Coachella Valley Sun).
2.       Apply nail art stickers (hole reinforcers cut in half). Apply two on each nail as shown below.
3.       Working on one nail at a time, paint the area inside the stickers with orange nail polish (Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Tribal Sun).
4.       Carefully remove the stickers.
5.       Repeat on all other nails. Allow 5 minutes for your nail design to dry and finish it with a coat of a top coat (Lauren B. Gel-like Top Coat).

 Hi ya Gorgeous!

Fall is here for some areas. In Arizona, it's going to be a while for this season that is otherwise known as pumpkin season.

Celebrate today with a DIY pumpkin foot scrub from celebrity nail artist and owner of As U Wish Nail Salon, Skyy Hadley.

“Pumpkins are more than just for carving on Halloween,” she noted. “They’re rich in vitamins and nutrients and can do wonders for your feet!” They contain “various enzymes that help nourish and brighten the skin, and just by adding raw sugar you have a perfect foot scrub,” she said.

PUMPKIN FOOT SCRUB
Ingredients:
1 can pureed pumpkin
1 cup plain yogurt
½ cup raw sugar
2 tablespoons honey
1/4 teaspoon olive oil

Directions:
Mix pureed pumpkin in a bowl. Stir in a yogurt, honey, sugar and olive oil. Wash your feet in warm water, and while your feet are moist, apply the scrub using your hands in a circular motion. Massage the mask onto your feet for 10 minutes on each foot and remove with warm water and a washcloth.

Hello September and gel polish manicure tips for your Labor Day Weekend

Holla Gorgeous!
Happy September!
Rosh Hashanna is in a few weeks and  I feel such an excitement in my Spirit! Woo hoo!
Speaking of excitement, I'm getting ready for a gig in Vegas followed by the Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers concert.

I've got a lot to do, in a little amount of time, with virtually a half hour break in between one gig to the other-no time for touch ups! So I will be wearing a gel manicure for the week.

To start with I'm using the new Orly Epix in Cameo available at Beauty Brands.

It's a gel polish that you apply and then seal with a special top coat to make it wear longer. I have applied on a Sunday...and fully expect this to last til the following Sunday!

In this photo, the index finger has two coats of the Orly Epix gel polish and the middle finger only has one. In my opinion, there is no getting away with one coat here, it really needs two!

Something you need to know about gel manicures, there is something to putting them on that is needed: time. This is not quick. Each coat needs about 3-4 minutes to dry and "cure". Then the top coat needs to really set up, and in my experience, about 10 minutes. So a simple nail polish session is a full 30 minutes.

I also think the time is worth it!

Now, below I have some professional nail tips on how to remove the gel polish remover because to save the nail bed and not rip the top layer of the nail off, take your time removing just like you took your time applying.

If you haven't tried a gel manicure yet, it's worth wearing for when you need the manicure to last and look good! I only wear them when I need my nails to be polish perfect for days on end.

So, getting the manicure on is not the problem. Getting it off safely is!

Skyy Hadley, owner of As U Wish Nail Salon provides tips and a step-by-step tutorial to safely remove your own gel manicure:
·           File – Use an emery board to lightly buff each nail to remove the shiny top coat so you’re left with a powdery finish. Be careful not to over buff so you don’t hit your natural nail underneath the gel.
·           Soak – Next you must soak your nails in 100% acetone polish remover. To do this, take a piece of cotton ball the size of your nail and pour the acetone on it, place it on your nail and cover your nail with a piece of aluminum foil or tape to keep it in place. Do this on every nail and let soak for 15 minutes to relax the gel.
·           Remove – Remove the cotton pieces from your nails and take a wooden cuticle stick to push the gel polish off your nails. If you have trouble, instead of forcing it, soak your nails with a cotton ball for 5 more minutes and try again.
·           Moisturize – After the gel has been removed, wash your hands and apply a cuticle oil to the nail and cuticle. This will rehydrate your nails after using acetone on them to keep them strong and healthy between polishes.
It’s important to take your time when removing a gel manicure yourself as it can be a slow process and you want to treat your nails very delicately and carefully to avoid weakening them.
