NYX Haul!

When I saw that they were having a sale on NYX products on Cherryculture, I jumped at the chance to pick up a few things that I’d been wanting for a while.
The first thing I had to get was some of the Single Eye shadows. The colours (from left to right) are: Luxor, Purple, Golden, Hawaiian Coffee, Silver, Golden Dune and Greyish Brown.

I’ve never used the single eye shadows before, so the first thing I did was swatch them – without a base of course!

Silver, Golden Dune, Greyish Brown
Wow. The colour payoff is amazing on all of them except for the Purple. Purple, you’re really letting the team down!
I would have to say that Golden Dune and Hawaiian Coffee are my favourites so far. Golden Dune really reminds me of the MAC Pigment in Blonde’s Gold. Beautiful!

I am a sucker for eye shadow palettes, so next I chose The Runway Collection in Caviar & Bubbles:

The lighter colours don’t show up so well in photos, but they are really nicely pigmented! Even though the Black is a little chalky – this is a really nice palette and would be absolutely perfect for travel!

Lastly I decided to grab a couple of Butter Lip Glosses. The colours I got are Peaches And Cream and Vanilla Cream Pie

Swatches:

They smell so damn good, and that is coming from someone who hates anything that smells sweet – but for some reason, I love the smell of these! Shaaanxo said they remind her of the Bavarian crème donuts from Dunkin’ Donuts, and I totally agree. Delicious!
They actually have pretty decent colour payoff for a lip gloss, and don’t feel too sticky and gross either which is really nice!

Once again I am impressed by NYX products, they really are a brand worth checking out.

Review: Venomous Cosmetics - I've been bitten!

Venomous Cosmetics was created by Tracy Porter, who combined her love of makeup with venomous animals. As a result, she strives to make colours that are as vibrant as their names suggest.

I first became interested in Venomous Cosmetics when I heard that they sell pressed eyeshadow samples. Who does that? At $2.00 USD a piece, they are very reasonably priced and are the same size as Yaby eyeshadows.

I picked up four eyeshadows: Fer-De-Lance (deep red-toned brown)

Chupacabra (medium plum purple with blue shift)

Gaboon Viper (cool toned smokey brown)

Caribbean Cruise (dirty teal with golden hints). Because the turn-around time was so long, Tracy actually upgraded my Caribbean Cruise eyeshadow to a full size one, and included some extras!

The extras she included were: Nightmare (periwinkle), Black Mamba (shimmery charcoal), Surfing the Gold Coast (bright medium blue with gold sparkle) and Purple People Eater (black with purple shift) loose samples, along with a pen. Yay!

Swatch time, left to right: Fer-de-Lance, Chupacabra, Gaboon Viper and Caribbean Cruise.

I am really pleased with how pigmented all these shadows are. Both the loose and pressed varieties come out very true to colour, with a beautiful vibrant finish. The quality of these is definitely up there with Yaby and MAC in my opinion.
My favourite is probably Gaboon Viper, and I actually wore this to the Roger Waters - The Wall concert last month. Looked beautiful!
If you like the look of these, don't forget to check out their site and facebook page. I'm already planning my next purchase..
