Garden Tour 2

First off, I would like to send out a big Thank You to all of you for your kind words, warm welcome and support for my new venture, becoming part of the Papertrey Ink design Team. Today I decided to play along with Mish's second Garden Tour challenge. She has included to gorgeous pictures as inspiration, a sketch inspired by one of Betsy Veldman's beautiful cards (featured in the recent Stamp It! magazine) and a color combo of yellow and gray. Here is what I came up with...
The top panel was stamped with a background (from Background Basics: Diamonds) in Lemon Tart, rounded the bottom corners, wrapped with Lemon Tart Satin Ribbon and punch a circle. The flowers (from With Sympathy) were stamped in Ripe Avocado and Lemon Tart then placed behind the circle punched raised panel.
The sentiment (from Everyday Button Bits) was stamped around the circle and then the flowers were embellished with clear rhinestones.

I have got some fun links for you to check out...

Dawn Woleslagle has started her own new stamp line called Wplus9, the last couple of day's she has been sharing some sneak peeks of her sets. Stop by and check out Love Birds and Funky Foliage.

Courtney Baker has a second stamp set called You're Dandy, coming out on the 6th. So today she is sharing a card featuring her new set, check it out here.

Lastly, my friend Kim has got a few money saving homemade Clip It Up ideas. Check it out here.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Enjoy The Wild Ride

Hello all and happy Friday! Boy have things been really quiet around here (the good old blog). The holidays do make thing busy but getting sick doesn't help. Forgive me for not posting or sharing much these days, I've been sick with a cold since Sunday and I am still not completely well. This cold just keeps lingering on. I took my first trip into town today, since getting sick, and I am tuckered out.

Anyways enough about that, I'll move on to the card... This bicycle image is on of my favorites from the Everyday Button Bits Set and it pairs so well with this sentiment. I thought I would go ahead and create one wild ride for this bike down a hill. This would be a fun card to give some one a smile, when things really do get wild. The hill was created by cutting a slop from ripe avocado and spring moss cardstocks, stamping the spring moss cardstock with a background from Background Basics: Retro, then distressing the edges.
The sentiment was stamped above a button tied to some spring rain twill ribbon. Then everything was attached to a kraft cardstock base. I love kraft cardstock, it goes with just about anything! Don't you think?

Well, I am going to put my son down for a nap now and maybe take one my self, hehe. Thanks for stopping by today and hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Enjoy the ride

Hello all! I am on my way out the door but I wanted to pop in a share a fun sort of masculine card with you before I go... The background was stamped with stripes from Background Basics: Retro in Ocean Tides and Spring Moss. Rounded the corners and wrapped it with ribbon.
Stamped the bike in brown and attached the buttons with some fun stitching. Attach a brown scalloped edge, rounded the corners, and attach to the striped background making sure to hang the scallops over the edge for a tad bit of interest. All these rounded corners make me happy, it's such a simple touch but really makes for and fun card.

Hope you have a blessed day!

Here To Give You A Lift

Hello all! Hope you are having a great start to your weekend. My sister was kind enough to let me borrow her camera for a bit, so I have a new card to share with you today...I have had this felt cloud idea in my head since I made this card. I created today's card pretty much the same way. I cut cloud templates from cardstock and found it easiest to hold the template against the felt and then cut out the shape. I then laid out and overlapped the clouds, adhered them with Scor-Tape and trimmed the edge. The left side of the card is covered with Scarlet Jewel cardstock and an embossed curves punched edge (stamped with polka dots in Melon Berry) then wrapped with a melon berry bow.
I thought Melon Berry and Scarlet Jewel hot air balloons (from Everyday Button Bits) would be fitting floating among these fluffy clouds.

Thanks to all of you for putting up with me not having my camera and for all of your sweet and encouraging comments. Have a great weekend!

Another Moxie Fab Challenge

Hello all!

This time the challenge was to create something that incorporates some kind of household item as the focal point. My first card uses the bike image from PTI Everyday Button Bits... To create the wheels, I punch circle from grey cardstock and then stitched the blue buttons on top of the circles. "Enjoy" was stamped in grey ink onto an orange punched circle and adhered behind the main image and ribbon. The rest of the sentiment "the ride" was stamped in cream ink at the bottom of the card.

The second card uses a coffee cup from PTI Warm Happiness. This is a new color combo to me. I had scraps of Aqua, burgundy, brown, kraft and cream laying out on my work space and thought they looked very pretty and warm together, perfect to pair with Warm Happiness.
Using my new border punch on this one, Upper Crest by Fiskers. I have been looking and looking for this one, dying to get my hand on it. The day I finally found it I almost didn't see it. It was in the wrong spot and behind other punches, I had been very desperate by this time and decided to look through each and every border punch. Good thing I did, I would have never seen it if I had not.
Anyways, onto the card... Stamped the circle and kraft strip with the tiny polka dots from PTI Polka Dot Basics II (I just love those little guys! He,he!) in burgundy and cream inks. The buttons were strung onto the twine and then I wrapped the twine around the card and the circle, held it in place with tape on the back side of the circle.

Boy am I cutting it close on this one, the deadline is at the end of the hour!

Oh, thank you all for your wonderful comments on my Embellish Challenge card. I really had a lot of fun making that one and it really means so much that you all are enjoying it too! I hope you all have a chance to participate. Thanks for visiting today, hope you enjoyed!

Polka Dot Happy!

Happy Friday friend!!! The weekend is just about here!

So onto today's card... I don't think I've ever played with this color combo before (Ocean Tides, Raspberry Fizz, Dark Chocolate & Vintage Cream), but I really like it! Playing with a new card size too, this card measures 5" X 5". I was inspired by the new envelope sizes Papertrey Ink is now carrying. I don't have any yet, but plan on ordering some with my next order (when ever that is... he,he).
I was a little polka dot happy on this card, but I think it makes for a fun card. The polka dots on the ocean tides cardstock are stamped in versamark and in dark chocolate on the cream. Added a bright raspberry scalloped border with my Embossed Curves Border Punch and wrapped the card with cream ribbon. Emphasised the sentiment and stitch the buttons, onto the brown balloon baskets, with some cream twine. Rounded the corners of the image panel and card base and called it done.

I'm ready for the weekend, how about you? We are headed to the beach, for a quick day trip, to play and meet up with family. Then we have a fun Princes, Pony and Super Hero (that's a mouth full) birthday party to go to. My little man will get to dress up as Spiderman and ride a pony, it doesn't get any better than that! Fun, fun!

Hope you have a wonderful Friday and a fun weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Third Time's The Charm

Hello all!

I'm back with a card to share with you today. For this card I had played around with some goodies I had received earlier from Lynette, you can see them here.To creat my focal image I stamped the flower stems then punched them out using my circle punch. Instead of adding buttons I used brads as my little flowers. Stamped some polka dots on the green panel in Versamark, stitch a row of white floss and added one last brad.

I am really happy with the way the sentiment came out, it just took me a few tries to get it right. :) I knew I wanted part of the sentiment to pop with white, so the first thing I tried was stamping the first part in green, then the "love" in craft white ink. That didn't stand out enough, so the next option was to heat emboss with white embossing powder. I tried this on a scrap piece of cardstock first to see if it would work and it turned out fine. But when I tried it on the final piece, it of course didn't turn out. So to cover up the mess I stamped "love" in green, on white cardstock, and punched it out with my small circle punch, popped it on with a dimensional, and it was perfect. I love it when mistakes lead you to the perfect solution, I mean... Why did I not think of that first?! Ha,ha!

I guess this card would also work for the latest CAS challenge, to Pop It Up. I think I'll stop by SCS an post it over there too.

I hope you enjoyed your visit with me today and have a wonderful Thursday!

Something Other Than Christmas and Goodies!

Hello there my friends!

It's time to give the Christmas Cards a break! So here is a simple birthday card I have to share today... It's based off the same layout as this card. Just changed the colors around and used a different image. This is such a versatile layout, you could pretty much use any image you choose. Just add a few fun details to the image and your good to go!
I also wanted to share these wonderful goodies with you too. Lynnette was kind enough to send all of this to me in exchange for some stamped Everyday Button Bits images. She is so very generous and is a very talented card maker as well. Please check out her blog and fabulous work, your sure to enjoy!
Isn't this card adorable!

It amazes me how many new friends I have made through this blog, you all have been a blessing to me!
I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

That Was A Toughie!

Hello my friends! Ok, so today's card I keep going back and forth on whether or not to post it. So, I'm going for it...I better post it before I change my mind! This card was created for the CAS28 Challenge, to make a masculine card. This is definitely not my strong point, in fact it's probably my weakest! Masculine cards are always a challenge for me. I was going for Clean and Simple (but I think it may be a little to simple) and no frilliness. I used the same frame idea used on this card, just adjusted the size to fit this card. Rounded the corners of the image panel. Use black DMC embroidery floss for the cross stitches (along the sentiment and image) to match the buttons. So that's pretty much it.

I'm not sure how I feel about this card. So please let me know what you think, good or bad, I can handle it!

Thanks for stopping in today and have a wonderful Thursday!

Hey There, Chickadee!

Hello there my friends! Hope you are having a wonderful day! First off I wanted to thank all of you for the super sweet comments you left for me about my good new! I am so blessed to have made so many new and great friends through my new blog. You guys are the best!!!
So here is today's card...I whipped out the polka dots and heat embosser for this card. It's hard to see in the picture but along the edge of the bird image panel is a border of brown apron lace punched cardstock. The border stands out so nice in my original picture, but here it's really hard to see. For some reason when I post my pictures on the blog they do not look as good as the originals on my computer. Any of you have any suggestions on how to fix this? I'm still learning here and need all the help I can get!

What do you think of my grounding effect, under the birds? This happened totally by accident, but I think it turned out kind of nice. Some of the ink on my stamp block came off onto the image panel as I was stamping the sentiment. I was upset at first (I seam to do this a lot, mess up my cards on the very last step) but then I realized that I could make it work. I just needed to continue the effect all the way across the panel. So I inked up the block (on purpose this time) and stamped the ground under my birdies. Kind of neat, wouldn't you say?! I'm definitely going to have to try this one again!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed your little visit with me today!

All Things Grow With Love & Patience

Happy Monday to you! Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Today I have another Everyday Button Bits card to share with you. This time I used the flower bunch image...

I pulled out the good old needle and embroidery floss again and straight stitched a couple of rows (also stitched on that cute white button flower along the bottom, the flower detail is there its just hard to see in the picture). The polka dots were all embossed in clear embossing powder. Check out these cute button flowers...I really love how they hang over the edge of the circle.

Thanks again for stopping in and visiting me today! Hope you have a wonderful Monday! I've had a pretty crazy day so far, nothing seems to be going right (praying for patience!).

Gettin' My Brain In Gear

Hope you are having a fabulous weekend!

Do you ever get stuck on a card, just can't make it work, and have to walk away? It happens to me quite often. Anyways today's card was one of those cards...
I started on it yesterday and knew I wanted to work with this topiary image and I thought it would look great pair with embossed leaves from In Bloom. So the original color combo was ripe avocado, brown, kraft and cream. I played around with different layouts, different buttons, whatever I could think of! Nothing was working! So I though enough is enough and left to go to my work out class. I guess getting a good buns kicking work out must have kick my brain into gear! As soon as I got back I took one look at my card and thought "COLOR!" So that's when the raspberry fizz came into play and everything else just fell into place. It's kind of hard to tell in the pictures but the leaves are embossed with clear embossing powder. The topiary pot was stamped a second time and cut out, then mounted with dimensional adhesive for a little bit more dimension. For the selection of the buttons, I thought it would be neat to pair a fun textured button (top, but it's hardly noticeable) with a simple one (bottom).

I think it turned out all right, considering the struggle I had with it.

Thanks for stopping in! I hope you enjoyed spending a little time with me today.

You're So Sweet

Happy Friday!!! Yeah the weekend is almost here!

Today's card it based off of the Fall To Layout #54. Here is my take on it...Yes, it is a skinny card again, hope you aren't bored of them yet! :) Anyways, today's card is super simple, it literally took me about 10 minutes to make!

To create the black frame all I did was cut a piece of scrap cardstock to the size needed, rounded the corners (still using that corner rounder, just in a different way! Got to love that tool!) and traced it with a black ultra fine point Sharpie. I made sure to leave space for the sentiment. I wanted "sweet" to stand out a bit more, so I embellished it with some bling. I use my Everyday Button Bits again, it has such a great assortment of images! Using the cherries today, I stamped the stems in ripe avocado onto a spring moss circle. Added two berry sorbet buttons, stitch with black floss, to match the frame. Then just popped it onto the card making sure to extend it over the edge. So that was it! Easy Peasy!!! What do you think?

I think this weekend will be another laid back weekend for us! Do any of you have any big plans? Well, hope you have a good one. Thanks for stoppin' in today, hope you enjoyed! Come back soon!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #14

Hello my friends! So it's time again for Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite Challenge. I tell ya, this was a challenge for me. First it took me forever to come up with and idea and once I did, it kept changing. Second I found it hard to combine these colors without a dark neutral, like a brown or black. I kept wanting to throw a green in there too and do flowers, but I refrained. So here is my take...I went with a skinny card for this one, they are just so much fun! I inked the balloon baskets and sentiment in burgundy. I don't have Scarlet Jewel (yet!) so I improvised and used a burgundy ink and button I had in my stash. I used SU Perfect Plum for the stamped background and had a purple button in my stash, for the balloon. I have tons of Raspberry Fizz so I pulled out my "bag o buttons" and GG ribbon.Aren't these Hot Air Balloons too cute?! Its so perfect for Papertrey Ink to create a set made for buttons, it's a great way to incorporate any color combo!

So hope you all have a great Thursday. The weekend is almost here! Yeah! Hope you enjoyed the card and thanks for stoppin' in, come back soon!

Just A Little Something

Happy Wednesday! Today's post is going to be a quick one. My son and I have a picnic lunch to go to with friends and I'm running late! So, the card I'm sharing with you today is "Just A Little Something" I whipped up in no time...I love the bold color with the pop of white. This card is for you Jessica, I know how much you love pink! The background image was stamped and embossed in white for a little extra texture and pop. Don't you just love that button! It totally looks like it's on fire!

So I hope you liked today's super simple card. Have a wonderful day and hope your week is going great! Talk at you later.

Button Tread

Happy Friday everyone!

I have some more new goodies to share with you (I promise, I'm rarely this fortunate), my new PTI order came in yesterday. Yeah! :) In Bloom and Everyday Button Bits were on back-order, so as soon as they came in I had to place an order. So today's card was made using Everyday Button Bits (I'll post a card with In Bloom tomorrow)... Using my punches again! :) As soon as I saw these Spring Rain vintage buttons I immediately thought of tire tread. What better way to use them than on a bike! Here is what I am talking about...

See that tread like detail, it's a perfect fit! Did you notice the button threading? Just thought I would try something new (sorry for the glare), I thought it might make the bike look like it's in motion. Not sure if it worked. It is a cute detail though!

If you guys haven't noticed already, I love my corner rounder!!! I use it on almost every card, it just adds a nice subtle detail. Don't get me wrong, I love all my punches but this one just seems to fit every card no matter what the style is. Do any of you have a go-to tool like this?

Anyways, I have a birthday celebration to go to tonight (my niece is turning 5!), but other than that no big plans for the weekend! Hope you all have a wonderful one!
