The Problem with Travel Vlogs & Daily Vlogs

I'm not someone who can make great videos and enjoy time with friends and family at the same time. Too much context switching. Let me know in the comments your feelings on the topic. As always, thanks for watching and subscribing. If you missed it, my Sweden travel video is here.

A Montage of Our Sweden Trip

This year my husband and I went to Sweden, one of my favorite places in the world. I put together a short travel montage for those interested. As I say in the video, I will be writing about our trip and posting photos here soon. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

New York City, April 2016

New York City, April 2016
Jim and I started our journey on Thursday night. We drove together the 4 hours it takes from Maryland to NYC (our least favorite part is the tolls.) We got to stay with our lovely friends Tessa and Geoff in their apartment in Brooklyn. Our friend Vince few in from LA for the weekend as well. The evening was great catching up with friends, most of whom we hadn’t seen since our wedding last May.

Hawaii Haul - Limiting My Souvenirs

In an effort to live more lightly, I was very careful with what I purchased on my honeymoon. I wanted enough things to remind me of the wonderful trip but not too much junk that would only be hard getting rid of the next time we move. So I had one major rule for myself, the item had to be useful. With that in mind, I think the few things I took home were all I needed. Here's my haul!

The first thing is a mango and papaya scented candle in a coconut shell. It's useful, smells amazing, and when it's used up I can use the shell to hold things. The shell necklaces wrapped around it were a free gift at the first cottage we stayed at.

The next things are these cute note paper pads. I use note paper often in snail mail and in my planner, and I could not resist the happy ukulele! The flower earrings I bought on our first day and I wore them to the wedding.

These next two images are favors from Franz and Tina's wedding, very special Hawaiian traditions, rare salt, and some little journals made from the pages of various books.

Lastly was the shirts. Jim and I both got one. We could not resist the rooster (they were all over the island)! Overall, it's probably the smallest haul from any vacation I've ever took but I think it's the perfect amount. The real souvenirs are the memories (and photos and video).

#HolmquistRoadTrip Days 3, 4, & 5

IMG_7225 The last three days of our road trip were different than the first two. The third day we were really really sick of the trip, but the fourth day saved us. We spend the day just exploring Chicago with my childhood best friend, Ming, and relaxing. It was so great to have a day where we were not spending the majority of it in the car. It helped our final day of driving happen with high spirits. Enjoy these photos from Chicago and my last three videos. What an adventure.

#HolmquistRoadTrip - Days 1 & 2

IMG_2329

It was a long long week of traveling from the west coast to the east coast, but we did it.  We took our two cars, filled them with all our belongings, took Jim's brother Eric to help with the driving, and headed out...a mer five days after the wedding. I've compiled all the video, Snapchats, and Instagrams I took over the corse of the road trip and created five videos chronicling our journey. I'll share the first two today. (along with some photos from Utah.)

Grand Californian Hotel Room Tour - Disneyland

I've got a short video for you this Wednesday. It's a hotel room tour from when Jim and I stayed at the Grand Californian at Disneyland. It was a really fun trip and I'm so glad we decided to do it. Enjoy the video and let me know what type of videos of mine are your favorite!

Tokyo Disney - Japan Day 11

IMG_5129
On our last full day in Japan, Jim and I went to Tokyo Disney. What can I say? It was full of things from the 90s, The Country Bears, The Swiss Family Robinson Tree House, Stitch was a featured role in The Tiki Room, and Princess Aurora was quite nice. Enjoy these photos (it's not even half of what I took) and feel free to ask me any questions about my trip! I'm so fortunate to have been able to go to Japan for fun and it was an amazing trip.
