Thankful Thursday (and a floorplan!)

Today, I am thankful that we've received building approval and things can finally get under way in the new year. No doubt, I am thankful for lots of other things, but this is number one in our house this week!!

As promised (the little people did not permit scanning and uploading activities yesterday), here is our floorplan...

Just tilt your head a little to get a straight on view of the elevation.  My scanning assistant is only 7!

We know our Master Bedroom is relatively small, but because of the confines of the block, that was how it had to be.  The Ensuite more than makes up for it, and we will have a lovely little deck/retreat directly off the Master Bedroom - I'm hoping that will become my favourite spot in the house.

Bed Five is also teeny tiny, but it will be a Guest Room/Storage Space, and will serve it's purpose well.

Oh, and the other thing, if you are new to the blog, is that our block is a crazy shape, hence the Outdoor Entertaining space is to the front.  It will all become clear once we get started and I can show you photos of how it all comes together.

So, there it is, hopefully we will be very happy together.  We should receive notification of our site start date next week.  Merry Christmas to us!

Thankful Thursday

A bullet point list is always a great way to communicate lots of information.  Today, I am thankful for:

• One more sleep until Husband comes home
• A fantastic seven year old's fantastic Year Two report card
• The influence of a fantastic Year Two teacher on the fantastic seven year old's fantastic report card
• Hearing my little buddy excitedly share with everyone he meets the name of his Prep teacher for 2012 and the name of his class
• The fact that two of my BFF's children are in my two school-aged children's classes.  An absolute logistical blessing.
• The fact that lots of other cool kids (and their equally cool parents) are in my kids' classes next year
• A three year old who has kicked a yucky virus, and has not kicked me in the face in the last 24 hours
• One more sleep until Husband comes home
• School holidays (although I'm sure in seven weeks I'll be telling you how thankful I am that school is going back)
• Beautiful, fantastic, supportive friends and family
• Gorgeous design and real life blogs that inspire and motivate me every day
• The book 'I don't know how she does it'.  Need to now get myself to the movie
• An awesome photographer - check out this amazing woman!
• One more sleep until Husband comes home

Thankful Thursday

This fortnight I am extremely thankful for the safe arrival of a precious new baby (not ours!)

I am also thankful for the general goodness of the awesome people in my life.  And, for the greatness that occurs when the nasty people are silenced.

So, here's to my 'besties' (that truly is a horrible word, isn't it?!)

Thankful Thursday

Today is a super special 'Thankful Thursday'.  We are currently experiencing a setback with the build, but that will not overshadow today's super special occasion.

Today, he turns FIVE!  Thankful is an understatement.  He is our only boy, and is simply amazeballs.

You are the greatest, little buddy.  Happy birthday!  (Now, Mummy will get back to planning your new bedroom and baking your birthday cake)

Cripies, it's Thankful Thursday again already!  Where is the time going?

Today, it is all about the fact that I'll see my favourite person tomorrow.  I've missed him too much and am so tired, that all I need is an early night and a very late morning.  So, I am thankful in anticipation of a good night's sleep very, very soon.

I am also thankful that a lovely friend is organising a holiday for us next year, and is sending lovely photos like this to my inbox...

And, I am thankful that our contracts are signed.  Yay!

Thankful Thursday

Just a quick one from me today...

Today, I am thankful for a little bit of rain.  We have a whole lot of, very small, potted plants preparing themselves to be nice and full-sized for the new house, but they have been lacking water and will be very happy now.  But, after the non-stop rain we experienced late last year and early this, we prefer for it to only last a couple of days at a time these days.

And, secondly, I am thankful that our building contract is 'in the mail'.  This is what we call progress, people, progress!

Oh, and finally, I am thankful that my lovely bloggy friend 'B', has moved into her gorgeous house!

Thankful Thursday

So, what to be thankful for today?  Even on the days when you are busy and tired and have a small person screeching at you for a Hash Brown (for 30 minutes, no less), it is worth taking the time to sit, reflect and review.

This week I have a list:

• I am feeling better!  Still tired, but less flu-y.  Yay!
• Our little guy had a great time at his Prep assessment day.  He went off happily, even though his friends were in a different session.  Yay!
• We nearly have a price for the house.  Yay!
• We are part of a fantastic community, filled with lovely people.  Yay!
• We're going to the Broncos on Saturday night.  Yay!

See, they don't have to be huge things.  In fact, I think being thankful for the small, everyday things really makes a difference.

Thankful Thursday

Sometimes building and renovating can be stressful.  Anyone who has done either can attest to that.  Right now, I am stressed by the fact that we still don't have a price for our build. 

So, I have decided that each Thursday (or at least once a fortnight) I am going to offset the stress by posting about what I am thankful for.  It might be only one or two things, but I think it is important to take a moment to consider what we have to be grateful for.

This week I am thankful for the three little lights in my life.

And, I am thankful for sleep-ins on public holidays.
