I need to go back to reading. I have not been doing so well in making sure I get to read my books and that is something I really need to do. I know that by the last quarter of the year, that is something I won't be able to do. I remember talking to my cousin about schooling the other week and it has been hard for her since she really wants to attend a cosmetology school in North Carolina but schedule is not allowing her to do so. She has 3 kids and just taking care of the kids keeps her really busy during the day. She is hoping that in 2 years when her kids are bigger she can finally realize this dream. She got married after she finished high school so going to schoold is really a goal for her. I'm sure she not only wants to do this for herself but also for her family. I'm just happy she knows how important this goal is for her and that she's really determined to achieve it whatever it takes.

online degree
my high school friend P had long wanted to get a graduate degree in business. she was actually the one who convinced me years back to enroll in graduate school. we took the entrance exam together, i enrolled and she ended up not enrolling. i didn't get to finish my graduate studies as i shifted to nursing school.
anyhow, the company that P is working for is willing to send her to school for free. the company is willing to shoulder all the expenses but the thing is P does not have the time to go to school as she is swamped with work. i suggested that she enroll on an online university that offers graduate degree programs in business. she couldn't believe that their was such a school. she recently inquired with capella university. she is scheduled to participate in a week long online seminar for her to know the school more and the requirements that they have. if things go well, then she could process her admission application already and get to start school by feb 2008.

masters degree
when i finished college, one of the goals i had was to get a Masters Degree. i felt that for me to be able to compete and improve myself. i never got to complete my masters degree, but im still hoping to finish in the coming years. maybe not in business anymore but a masters degree in public health. i do feel tired studying but come to think studying is really never ending. one would also need to learn new things and improve oneself always. hopefully i could pursue this after taking all the exams that i have to take.

loans
my friend from nursing school ford was one of those students you would really admire. like everyone else, he was working full time and going to school as well. what sets him apart from the rest of us though was he was also supporting 2 brothers to school. i was talking to him last saturday and that was when i found out that he had to get a loan to survive the last year of nursing school. the tuition was just too much and with two other brothers going to school he really didn't have any other option. he was lucky enough to have been give the option of either to take a personal loan or pay day loans. he had opted for the latter. he says he is just happy that we are already finished with school and his other brother is to finish by march already.

im back!
i super missed the internet and blogging. i could have used the free wifi in the hotel but i opted not too. we got back tuesday but i have been pretty busy with other things since coming back from the short but super sulit vacation in boracay. will be posting pictures and kwento soon.
but for now...after 2 years and a half ( i stopped for one semester). G-R-A-D-U-A-T-E na ako! woohoo. i actually finished in april but we missed on attending the ceremony. ok na din that we missed it because most of my friends only graduated october also. but since i only attended the ceremony today, ngayon ko lang na feel that i really graduated already.

weekend
my weekend was fun!
friday:
with friends from school, we went to school to apply for transcript and diploma. i saw one of our professors and he congratulated us for passing the board. i told him, we (me and my friends) have not taken the board yet. haha!
after school, we went to gateway as we are to watch a concert that is sponsored by hope cigarettes. we had dinner first at pizza hut. then off we went to araneta coliseum. it was actually not a concert but their were performers. it was a grand raffle draw of hope cigarette. someone won 20 million pesos (one winner only) that night. we had fun as the performers were ogie alcasid, vhong navarro and a few other artists. no pictures though as no one remembered on bringing a camera.
we stressed out (secret on what this means, teehee!) after the concert and then we went to starbucks. was home by 2am.
saturday:
i was home the whole day and studied the whole day (boring!).
sunday:
went to church at 8am and then went to alabang for TJ's party. had fun as usual. it was a costume party and the theme for the party was sports attire. went to the party as a boxer. look at my shorts! ginagaya ko lang shorts ni pacquiao (teehee)! more pictures posted here.
im posting a funny video my cousins told me about earlier. you must understand ilonggo though to better appreciate.

student loans
when i decided to take up my second degree, to study in the US was considered. it is expensive but i knew i could apply for a student loan. i started looking for school loan consolidation that i could apply for that would help me with finishing nursing school. having a consolidated loan was the best option i found bec it would give me a reduced monthly payments. other advantages were it offered flexible repayment options, to have an application approved was convinient, no application fees and prepayment penalties but most especially they provided with a low, fixed interest rate. which is very important for me. having available student loans is a blessing indeed because it gives everyone the equal oppurtunity of finishing school and having a brighter, better future. i wish we had such here in the philippines!

exams are over,woohoo!
i still have a hundred item exam on monday but that should be easy. finishing nursing school is so near! im so excited BUT then again i would still have to pass the board exams to be able to practice the nursing profession.
the past 2 weeks has been hectic. i have been sleep deprived, super tired from duty and attending classes and taking exams. to make things worst, i got sick. im just glad that the final exams is now over and the only thing i would have to think of now is completing the requirements of PRC.

here are pictures of the community i have been going to the past 2 weeks.
the whole experience has been humbling.
the family that we visit does not have furnitures in their home. what serves as the living room is also the dining room and the bedroom. im not sure if they even eat three times day. the house they live in is not even conducive for living, as the flooring is made up of uneven planks of wood.
it makes you realize how much more you have that others don't have and would probably never have.
we will go back next week to the area to give the house a mini makeover. with the limited funds and time my partner and i have, i pray that we be successful.
