Frigid

Goodness gracious me, it was frigid today!! And I'm not exaggerating. Seriously. The high temperature was -6 degrees C. When I left the house this morning, it was -12 degrees C, not including wind chill. Madness!! And the thing is, the temperatures just suddenly dropped last night over the course of an hour...it'd been nice and toasty at like 5 degrees C, and the next thing you knew, it was like -5. Sure, we were warned, but still, it's weird. And even weirder, it's going to get unusually warm later on in the week (although I'll be in Lonodn by then :) Tiny tiny bits of snow on the ground this morning, but hardly anything to get excited about.

Subway

Okay, so I'm totally procrastinating again, and really should be doing work. Three days left before the end of term (and before I head off to London, woohoo!), and have three papers left to finish. Urgh. Anyway, I'm finally getting around to posting this picture of me standing in a vintage subway car (from the 1930s!). The NYC Subway is 100 this year, and they've been running some vintage cars on the regular subway lines to celebrate. It is so incredibly cool. Even the advertisements on the trains are vintage! And if you look really close, you'll see ceiling fans! Crazy cool.

Sorry the picture is a little blurry. It was taken by a random stranger :)

Drowning

I'm drowning in stuff and work. There's now more furniture in my apartment than my apartment can handle (all of which came over this weekend from my sister's apartment), and not enough hours in the day to do what I need to do at work/school before winter break begins next week. Argh!!

Flighty II

Boy, I've been super flighty again this week. Wanted to go to this really cool exhibit thing that I thought was on today, but turned out to be on yesterday. I apparently can't read a calendar. Also, took like 5 different trains to get to my sister's apartment yesterday because I got onto two wrong trains. How ridiculous is that?? It's not like I haven't lived in the city for almost six years and should know the subway by now!! Urgh :) Anyway, it's been quite a chocolate-y week too, having been to Jacques Torres twice in two days! Bought a 1kg (2.2 lb) bar of milk chocolate from there, in addition to a number of the best chocolate chip cookies in the world : )
