I've been lucky to test knit this beautiful pullover for Erica Smith (ericacanknit on Ravelry). This is my second time test knitting for her and must say I wasn't disappointed. She has such a great designing style and eye for details, and her patterns are always well written and easy to follow. Apogee pullover is very lightweight without being flimsy. It is knitted in pieces from bottom up, so there's quite a lot of seaming to be done at the end of it all. The side seams actually are the most interesting part of this design as they diagonal as opposed to normal vertical seams. As hard as I tried, photographing them was pretty impossible - the one time the seams are actually supposed to show I manage pull off my best job seaming ever! Also the dark blue color I chose for this pullover makes the details less prominent. But look at the two photos below, I have highlighted the seam in the bottom photo so maybe that makes it easier to spot the detail I'm talking about. I co

Here's the other sweater I have knitted for Theo. I took part in a test-knit for Gabrielle Danskknit on Ravelry for a children's sweater. The pattern is called "Grown-up" and should be released any day now.  This was a really fun knit and a nice opportunity to play with color. I chose quite sombre combination of grey and pale yellow. I still prefer to dress Theo in gender-neutral colors, because he wears the clothes for such a short period and maybe if we one day get another baby it will be a girl instead, so I don't want overly boyish clothes. Or if we don't, unisex clothes are easier to gift away or sell.  I used Drops Merino Extrafine for this project. It's a really nice yarn to work with, smooth and stretchy so I think it's perfect for baby clothes. The sweater knitted up really fast (might be down to the small size - by the way I knitted the one-year old size) and the stripes kept it interesting the whole time. I think the sweater

Just a quick update to show you what I'm working on at the moment. I already mentioned that I'm participating in a test knit for a maori inspired cowl, a project I'm really excited about. Here's how far I've gotten with it: Fair-isle knitting always looks ugly and a bit wonky before blocking but I'm sure it will look much better when it's all smooth and neat and off the needles. I'm really digging the yarn though, it's super soft and not at all itchy like alpaca yarns usually tend to be.  I'm also still working on the Jackdaw pullover for Magnus. I feel like it's taking forever and I don't see any progress even though I've put hours into it. If it was something for me, I'd put it on hold for a while but since it's a present and already horribly late, I feel like I should be working on it and feel slightly guilty every time I knit something else... One more thing I've been knitting is a onesie for the baby.

I'm taking part in a test knit for ArohaKnits , with the trial for the Tapatoru cowl starting today. I'm so excited about this project! I already have so much stuff that needs to be finished as well as a little baby, but this design was just so pretty that I couldn't help but participate. (I also think it's important to help independent designers and test knitting is a perfect opportunity for that.) I also made my Instagram profile public today, and you can find me under the name sari_n_. I'm still not sure if I'll leave it that way, I have to see how I feel about sharing my life on such a public forum. Even though I share photos and write about my personal life here on this blog I still find it more anonymous than Instagram.
