Tony Moly Master Lab Mask Sheet

Time for a skincare review! This one will also be a back-to back post about Korean face masks I've tried for the past few weeks. 😊

Mask sheets are my favorite skincare cheats when my skin is feeling and looking blah. Whenever I'm stressed, sometimes my cheeks get dry and irritated and I can't be bothered with layering on skincare products, so I just slap one on before sleeping.

These two Tony Moly masks are pasalubongs from my colleague who went to Korea for vacation. I'm not sure if they're available locally, but they're worth a review!

I have with me 2 variants: Collagen for elasticity and Vitamin C for Brightening.

Collagen - Intensive Moisturizing

Vitamin C - Intensive Brightening

The Tony Moly Master Lab Mask Sheet comes in a paper packaging (unique for a face mask) with foil lining inside. The mask itself is made of very thin cotton. Hardly any essence remained inside the pack, as everything was on the sheet itself. The collagen variant had a subtle scent (close to none), but the Vitamin C variant had an artificial lemon fragrance. The material of the mask is thin but seems durable, but it has an awkward fit on me. The light water essence for both variants feels so good on my skin and it's able to soothe my hot, itchy, irritated, dry, and flaky skin. (Yup, I have those days.) You can leave this mask on for 10-20 minutes, but after 20 minutes, a thick layer of essence is left on the skin yet to be absorbed. I leave this mask on a little longer (I'm not sure if it's bad to do so but it seems to work fine for my skin), but you have the option to pat it for quicker absorption.

Between the 2, I prefer the collagen mask more since it's close to being unscented, but the brightening effect of both masks are similar. I used the Vitamin C variant a day before shooting my bare face for IG. 😉

What mask sheet have you used recently? 💛

Love,
Helen

Chateau Labiotte Wine Lip Tint in RD01 Shiraz Red

Say hello to the cutest lip tint I have! 🍷

What I have is the sample size of the Chateau Labiotte Wine Lip Tint. Tellie gave this to me last year. 💋

This cute little wine bottle is just the size of my thumb. Since I find it hard to use up all my lippies, this size is perfect! It comes with a doe-foot applicator, but to get the most even application, I also use my pinky to blend this tint.

Shiraz Red is such a beautiful true red shade. It's perfect if you're gunning for the classic look. It brightens up your face with minimal effort.

For a tint, this one sure is very pigmented! Chateau Labiotte Wine Lip Tint has French wine extracts and it smells like grape juice. It has a slightly sweet taste, too. 😋 I haven't encountered a tint that's as vivid as this one. It actually looks like liquid lipstick, but it's lightweight so you'll forget you have it on. This lasts long as long as you don't eat, but one con here is that it comes off with water. Whenever I drink water, it leaves pinkish water marks on my tumbler. Oh no. 😞 But I still love it though! It's the cutest thing in my kit right now. Hihi

Tony Moly BCDation Water Pact SPF 50+ PA+++

It's so hot outside! RealFeel can get as high as 40°C, so anything that can help me cool down already gets a plus in my book. For instance, I was never really into soft drinks, because I don't enjoy the "ahh" moment (the carbonated drink's "spirit" is way too strong for me). Until I tried McDo's Frozen Coke (in Slurpee form!), and I've craved for it ever since. It's like a soft textured Coke! Okay, before I get sidetracked by that, let's get on with today's review: Tony Moly BCDation Pact. The name itself already is a mix of BB cream, CC cream, and foundation, but this product does even more. It has an 8-in-1 function - one of which I find pretty helpful right now, which is cooling

Tony Moly BCDation Water Pact in 01 Skin Beige (P1,198)
Mist + Sunblock + BB + CC + Foundation + Cooling + Soothing + Whitening
  • Perfect moisture cover lasting 24 hours
  • Powerful UV Protection
  • Instantly lowers skin temperature -2°C
  • Immediately deliver moisturizing agent
  • Contains 100% mineral sparkling water

This is different from the usual cushion pact, because for one, it doesn't have cushion inside! It's a water pact, and the entire content is a face base in a solid cream foundation form. The packaging looks extra posh and adds a very premium feel to the overall product.

This pact contains 17g of product inside and is good for 12 months after you open it.

It comes with a mirror and a soft rubbery/springy puff. The puff is also unique in a way because unlike the usual ones that come with cushion pact, this one absorbs less product so there's less wastage.

It also has a divider to separate the puff applicator with the product. This product comes in 2 shades: 01 Skin Beige and 02 Natural Beige.

The one I got was 01 Skin Beige, which suits my skin just right! My personal preference though is to apply this pact using my clean finger to warm it up a bit so it would blend easier. As you can see, a swipe covers my pores and kills redness instantly!

Before & After (wearing Tony Moly BCDation Water Pact alone)

Tony Moly BCDation Water Pact has a sheer to medium coverage and a glossy finish. (Yup, not dewy. It's cold in Korea so they like makeup that can make their skin look and feel moisturized.) It's hydrating and has a very high SPF so you'd be protected from harsh elements. As for the face mist function, it contains a special ingredient that is 100% sparkling mineral water/carbonated water (instead of plain water) which gives the skin a fresher feeling and finish. This pact claims to cool your skin down by 2°C; though I can't measure to the exact degree, it does make my skin feel slighly cool but just for a few seconds. Since this is a BB + CC + foundation, it does have decent coverage as it can hide pores, redness, and minor skin imperfections. Also, no breakouts and irritations from this one!

Because of it's glossy finish, it does feel a bit sticky. Since I have oily skin, I can't wear it alone or else I'll just look ridiculously shiny, so I always finish this off with powder to make it last. I would recommend this only for those with dry to normal skin, but not for oily skin.

I like the Tony Moly BCDation Water Pact for its pretty packaging and the convenience it brings. An 8-in-1 product in a pact is very travel-friendly! No need to lug around separat bottles of mist, sunblock, BB, CC, and foundation. However, it is not for my oily skin. It is something I can use though when I decide to go on a trip with a cooler climate. Should they come up with one with a matte finish but with the same benefits, that's certainly one to look out for!

Tony Moly Pocket Bunny Sleek Mist

Tony Moly has outdone other brands again in the cuteness scale when they created the Pocket Bunny Sleek Mist.

Just look at the cutest face mist ever! :3

Tony Moly Pocket Bunny face mist comes in 2 variants: Moist Mist and Sleek Mist. Moist Mist contains peach, raspberry, and apple extracts which promotes skin elasticity and has a sweet, fruity scent. Sleek Mist on the other hand contains cabbage, pineapple, and lemon extracts to control excessive sebum production of oily skin. Naturally, I went with my head (and not my heart) and got the Sleek Mist, even though the scent of the Moist Mist sounded more appealing.

The only sad part about this mist is that you'd have to temporarily behead the cutie bunny in order to reveal the spritzer. While my preferred face mist packaging in mind is one that comes with an aerosol spray, the atomizer of this Sleek Mist works great for me! It sprays out the liquid into a very fine mist consistently, and I don't have problems with it making part of my face wet with unsightly droplets. (Make sure to spray this within a distance of 20-30cm.) The amazing part of this kind of packaging is that it's reusable, so I can refill it with any product of my choice when I finish this one.

The Pocket Bunny Sleek Mist has a powdery but not overwhelming scent, and it doesn't bother me. I use this to set my makeup and it works wonders - especially when I wear mineral powder! With mineral powder, the initial finish is flat matte, and it would take a while for the powders to settle on my skin (once it has mixed with my natural oils). With the Sleek Mist, it sets my makeup right away without breaking the pigments of the makeup. Also, it serves as a cute perk-me-up product for when I want to feel and look fresh any time of the day. You can use this face mist alone or with makeup; it's up to you.

Current Skincare Routine

Here's my updated skincare routine for 2016. I've actually been using these products everyday for the past few months. It's a mix of drugstore products, because you don't have burn your wallet just to have a good complexion. :D

For makeup remover: SAVE or SPLURGE

I have oily skin so I like to use something light and refreshing for my entire face, just like Bifesta Sebum Cleansing Lotion. It's a 2-in-1 product - cleanser and toner, and it actually feels just like water! You can just apply this using a cotton pad to cut short your skincare routine for tired nights and/or for when you have something done on your face (AKA eyebrow threading or tattoo) and can't wet your face. Super handy! It's efficient, and I like it a lot since it removes my everyday light makeup quickly. (My everyday makeup is devoid of any eye makeup, so that's another story.)

For days when I wear heavy waterproof makeup and/or eye makeup (shimmer eyeshadow, liner, and mascara), Bifesta Sebum Cleansing Lotion is not enough. To prevent tugging, I reach for my potent cleansing oil, Shu Uemura Whitefficient Skin Purifier, to remove my makeup with minimal effort. As in, it melts off my makeup in seconds. This is also a 2-step product: makeup remover and facial cleanser. You first apply it as oil all over your face (or on your eyes and lips, if you prefer), massage to loosen the makeup, emulsify it with water, and rinse off. A little goes a long way with this one, so a big bottle will last you months.

For makeup removers, you can SAVE because there are a lot of options that will get the job done, but SPEND if you want to save time and get it done with minimal effort.

Bifesta Sebum Cleansing Lotion (P419)

Shu Uemura Whitefficient Skin Purifier

For facial wash: SAVE

Don't fall for facial cleansers that promise you the world. At the end of the day, all they do is wash off dirt and oil from your face, while the fancy ingredients only sit for about a minute on your face. For my facial wash, I just use whatever is on the sink. This time, it's from Belo AcnePro. I like that it cleanses without drying out my skin, but I honestly prefer a less-scented foamier one. This gel fomula lathers up a bit, and it takes me more product than usual to get it to foam up and remove all the oil from my face. The good side is that this one's not drying at all considering it's an anti-acne product. It's also unique since its active ingredient is purified bee venom, a natural ingredient that fights pimples and reduces inflammation.

For toner: SPEND

Toner restores the skin's PH balance after washing (usually with soap, which is alkaline). Our skin has a thin, protective layer on its surface, referred to as the acid mantle. Toner removes leftover dirt, oil, and makeup our cleanser might have skipped, thus minimizing breakouts. They also prime the skin for it to absorb moisturizer better. I like Tony Moly AC Control Whitening Toner since it makes my skin feel soft! I've used up this bottle to the last drop, and I loved how mild and gentle it is. Long term use also resulted to lighter post-acne marks.

For eye cream: SPEND

Bioderma Sensibio Eye Contour Gel (P1,248)

Bioderma is a French drugstore skincare brand. Bioderma Sensibio Eye Contour Gel is for sensitive skin. It's hydrating and it has a light gel cream texture that feels refreshing on the eyes. It moisturizes my skin without feeling oily, so I can use this even during daytime under makeup. It is gentle as it didn't irritate my eye area - no itchiness, no milia. Puffy eyes aren't my biggest problem, so I can't tell if it really depuffs, but it doesn't lighten dark circles. Overall, this is a basic eye cream; it moisturizes gently and prevents wrinkles.

For pimple/spot treatment: SAVE

Nature Republic Bee Venom Treatment Spot (P525)

I picked this product up on whim during Nature Republic's launch at Robinsons Place Manila. Little did I know that my sister and I will be using this almost everyday. Yes. We all love this!

For starters, this one is made of MD Water (Alps Matterhorn Glacier Water) and 77% Bee Venom Complex. The ingredients list is extremely long, but it's mostly filled with natural extracts from plants. This product is a spot treatment, and I use it for zits that have reared their ugly head, and those that have yet to come (when I feel a bump forming). It flattens pimples before they fully emerge. It works in drying out my pimples in 2-3 days. It has a gel cream texture that absorbs well. It doesn't dry the skin surrounding the zit, nor does it sting or leave a dark post-acne mark. The packaging comes in a hygienic squeeze tube with a slim nozzle to dispense the right amount of product. The best part is that it contains 30ml worth of product. This could last me over a year; but then again, my two sisters steal this from me every night. It's super effective and it has been keeping my skin clear for over 3 months. Now, I want the entire Nature Republic Bee Venom range!

For moisturizer: SAVE

I say SAVE because moisturizers don't go into deeper layers of the skin. (Serums do.) This one's my unexpected favorite light moisturizer. The only Pond's product I've ever used consistently was their cold cream and this! I was initially apprehensive of using this one at first since its rose smell was kind of strong for a face product, but I tried it anyway. I'm happy to say that I'm now halfway through with my third tub, and I'm planning to repurchase. They came out with a cream version of this with SPF (interesting), but I'd still go for the gel formula because of my oily skin. This moisturizer absorbs quickly, and the scent goes away in a minute. It keeps my skin hydrated but never shiny. The gel formula feels cooling, too!

I've also spotted a nice promo from Pond's at Landmark Trinoma. Get a free exclusive rose gold sling bag when you buy P500 worth of Pond's Flawless White products inclusive of 25g BB Cream. I've been lemming for the Ponds Flawless White BB Cream in Light since Julia reviewed it, so now's the perfect time to shop! :D

Love,
Helen
