Day Trip: Alviera Go Play

It's been a long time since I felt like a kid, but Alviera Go Play made last weekend super fun! It was the perfect huling hirit sa tag-init that featured the world's first game show inspired playground. (I say it so because I didn't even need to go to the beach to get tanned, because Porac, Pampanga has beach weather almost everyday.) This one-day summer festival had outdoor fun and wacky games inspired by hit TV shows like Takeshi’s Castle, Wipeout, and Gladiators. Kids and kids at heart all rejoiced! :D

Alviera Go Play was a full day of lively games, mental and physical challenges, foamy frolic, bouncy inflatables, prizes, food, and music.

Panda and I were invited to GO PLAY! :D We were excited, and I think this was our only decent shot because after that was running, playing, and sweating. LOL

Human Foosball

The Wacky Inflatable Challenge

Agawan Base

The last fling of the summer featured the craziness of Human Foosball, runners in a Wacky Inflatable Obstacle challenge, Agawan Base players dressed in zorb balls, and lay-ups with binoculars in Binocular Basketball. Active challenges delighted and challenged guests such as kicking a goal without wobbling, but only after spinning yourself silly in Dizzy Penalty Kick.

Kids Area

During the afternoon, there was an hourly foam bash party. Kids aged 12 years old and below were treated to an exclusive inflatable play area. (Inggit much! Last year, I remember playing in an inflatable house in Chocolate Ville, Bangkok until kids invaded it. Tsss. Haha)

Water Obstacle Course

The water obstacle course where players had to avoid giant swinging balls to get to the end was a challenging crowd-pleaser!

Human Tic Tac Toe

The lines were impossibly long that day and the weather scorching hot, so my friends decided to venture to the games with fewer people. Human Tic Tac Toe was fun but we lost! HAHA! (Huhu, no tickets!) It was hard to run a short distance and stop abruptly, but it was a good game!

Dizzy Maze

Panda tried out the Dizzy Maze and won! :D

Go Card Photo Challenge

I enjoyed the Go Card challenge more since it gave more tickets without needing to spin and get dizzy. All we had to do were take photos of what was written in the 9 boxes. The most challenging was finding John Cena and Waldo!

YAY SLIDE! :D

Breakout Philippines Escape Room Game

Alviera Go Play is a partnership between Alviera and Runtertainment, the company behind Outbreak Manila, Slidefest Philippines and Breakout Philippines. Players sampled the Breakout Philippines Escape Room Game at the event, and had a real taste of the game’s excitement and mystery.

Aerial Walk

The Alviera Go Play also featured the thrilling attractions of SandBox for a full outdoor summer adventure. Go Players had an opportunity to enjoy SandBox attractions like the Giant Swing, Aerial Walk, Adventure Tower free fall, wall climbing, and Avatar One rollercoaster zipline. (This one here is the Aerial Walk, which I conquered 2 years ago. I can't wait to go back and try this one again!)

Alviera Go Play ran like an outdoor arcade where players can earn more tickets or exchange them for prizes. A Regular Go Player was allotted one to 10 points, while the Extreme Go Player had 20 points. Children aged 7 and below registered as Go Kids Player and started off with 10 points. Each activity required points to join in. Every successful activity gained a player more points. Players “refilled” points at the point refilling station and winners exchanged points for souvenir items.

Prizes:

And so before we left, we had a whopping 88 tickets. HAHA! A super far cry from the major prizes (Trip for 4 to Boracay or gadgets, anyone?), but we had a fun experience at Go Play! I wonder who won these prizes. Haha :D

Before going home, we had the tickets exchanged to these! They lowered the points requirement, so we got several packs of Magic snacks, a direwolf for Panda, and a tiger for me. And yet we were happy! Haha :D

Alviera Go Play was a fun event to cap off the summer. It was full of memorable moments, big laughs, and team work. It's where the young and old alike can enjoy. It's still in the works, but you may see Go Play go live soon, probably at BGC! :o

Alviera Go Play: The World's First Game Show-Inspired Playground!

Alviera is hosting the world's first game show-inspired playground in the heart of Sandbox this coming June 11, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. I went to the media preview last Friday at TGI Fridays Glorietta so I could share with you the news. Clue: IT'S EXCITING!

I'm not the most outgoing person there is, but despite being very kikay, I've been to a couple of hiking adventures, and I've conquered Sandbox and Camp N! My Panda, on the other hand, loves game shows and even hosted The Game Crew for our circle of friends! So we're both excited for Go Play!

Hello, Zorb ball! You look like a lot of fun. :D

Before the event started, lunch was served. Oh TGI Fridays, you never fail to serve good food!

This one-day summer festival is our huling hirit sa tag-init, since it's starting to get rainy already. If you're familiar with TV shows Takeshi's Castle, Wipeout, and Gladiators, then you have an idea what to expect - outdoor fun AND wacky games! Weee!

Alviera Go Play takes off on Saturday, June 11 at SandBox, a full day of lively games, mental and physical challenges, foamy frolic, bouncy inflatables, prizes, food, and music.
Over a dozen simultaneous games and activities will keep you, family, and friends entertained throughout the day.

Zorb suit

Take part in the craziness of Human Foosball, keep singing through Wacky Karaoke, run in sumo suits through Sumo Relay, play Agawan Base dressed in a zorb ball, or manage three lay-ups with binoculars on in Binocular Basketball. Try to kick a goal without wobbling, but only after spinning yourself silly in Dizzy Penalty Kick. There’s Buzzingo, Extreme Jack & Poy, Brain Games, Photo Mission, and more!

Inflatable slide

Inflatable play area

There’s a foam bash party every hour where a local DJ will be onstage to play the summer’s soundtrack. An inflatable play area will be open for kids aged 13 years old and below.

Inflatable obstacle course

Not to be missed is a water obstacle course where players have to avoid giant swinging balls to get to the end! I've seen these kinds of games on TV, and they're fun to watch. What more if you're the one playing? :D

Here's the COMPLETE list of activities you can enjoy in Alviera Go Play:

REGULAR ACTIVITIES
  • Wacky Inflatable Challenge – Bounce, crawl, climb and conquer the course in less than 2 minutes.
  • Breakout Philippines Escape Room Game – Sample the country’s premier escape room game! Form a team, find clues and escape before time runs out.
  • The Drink Challenge – Slip and slide to get your bottled beverage’s contents on to a giant mug. Then run and tag your teammates during this relay. Finally, all of you must slip and slide back to your mug and sip the mug empty with straws.
  • Binocular Basketball – Can you manage 3 lay-ups in 2 minutes wearing a binocular helmet?
  • Human Foosball – Exactly what it sounds like, with players stuck to a moving pole and tasked with scoring a goal.
  • Agawan Base – Zorb Edition – Charge your way to an enemy’s base in the ultimate roll-around costume. Roll, bounce and repeat, all while in a zorb ball.
  • Explore the Unknown – Collect objects from different containers while blindfolded to win the prize. Nothing icky in there, right? Maybe.
  • Dizzy Penalty Kick – Spin around and then make a dizzy attempt to score a penalty kick, with 4 other competitors around you.
  • The Gladiator – Face off against an opponent on the pedestal platform while everything but the kitchen sink is thrown at you. First one to do 5 knockdowns wins!
  • Sumo Relay – Race against time in sumo suits!
  • Photo Mission – Here are 10 pictures for your team to replicate as accurately as possible. Submit them anytime you think you’ve got them perfect.
  • Brain Games – Your team has got to put its head together for some mind exercises to solve puzzles and illusions.
  • Communication Game – A team member must direct his mates to correctly arrange items on the floor, except they’re all blindfolded.
  • Caterpillar Run – The team steps inside a circular tarpaulin track and must walk in unison as the track passes through their hands. Sounds simple but can you do it within 3 minutes?

EXTREME ACTIVITIES
  • Buzzingo – An absurdly fun version of Bingo (yes, Bingo!) that will only be played 3 times during the day. It will not require points to participate but players will have to risk their tickets for Bingo cards. Winning will get you 1,000 tickets!
  • Extreme Jack & Poy – Risk 5 tickets and try to win 6 consecutive battles in a contest that knows no age, skill, experience or gender. The winner takes all the tickets of the losing individual.

MORE FUN STUFF
  • Foam Bash – Dance around the foam pit set up in front of the stage every hour as local DJs spin some cool summer hits.
  • Inflatable Play Area – Open for children 13 years old and below.
  • Food Stalls – Players and visitors won’t go hungry with a wide array of food entres.

Alviera Go Play runs like an outdoor arcade where players can earn more tickets or exchange them for prizes.

  • P600* - Go Kids Player (10 points)

    • Kids must be at least 4-feet tall to participate in any activity

Each activity requires points to join in. Every successful activity gains a player more points.

A point refilling station will be set up, as well as a prize area where winners can exchange points for souvenir items. Collect the tickets you win and exchange them for stuffed toys, t-shirts, the latest gadget, or even an all-expense paid trip for 4 to Boracay!

The outdoor adventure never stops. Two years ago, I've been to Sandbox. I liked it, but found it to still have a lot of space for more attractions. Go Play is one of the thrilling additions, even if it's just there for 1 special day. Go Players will be entitled to discounted tickets to SandBox attractions like the Giant Swing, Aerial Walk, Adventure Tower free fall, wall climbing, and Avatar One roller coaster zipline.

Alviera Go Play is another one of Alviera's signature events to cap off the summer - the kind that lets everyone participate in the fun and appreciate the outdoors! For more information, visit goplay.com.ph.

Day Trip: Sandbox at Alviera (Porac, Pampanga)

Every month brings about a brand new adventure! To kick-start June, I went with my church and traveling friends to Sandbox at Alviera, located in Porac, Pampanga.

Sandbox is an adventure camp built by Ayala Land. It's not your ordinary kiddie amusement park as it offers thrilling attractions such as the Giant Swing (which is the tallest swing in the Philippines), Avatar One (Asia’s first-ever roller coaster zip-line), and more!

It was a hot and sunny day when we arrived. There was actually not too many people at the venue that day. However, Sandbox needed to arrange their system more. When we arrived, no one was advising people on where to line up for the waivers, checklists, and payments. Also, the cashier was extremely slow in processing payments, I don't know why.

Anyway, here are the attractions you can experience at Sandbox! Since I was nursing a fever that day, I only went for 2 (Aerial Walk and Avatar One).

Giant Swing

Friends say this one's like Enchanted Kingdom's "Anchors Away" ride, only this time it will be just you and your seatmate. How fun is that! If I were to try the Giant Swing, I think I would vomit right after. But my friends did enjoy it, and some even did it 3x (but against their will). Haha!

Adventure Tower

At the Adventure Tower, you can do a LOT of activities. On one side, there's Wall Climbing, then Rappel Wall, then Free Fall, then you also go up here (via stairs) for when you're going to ride Avatar One. But I find it inefficient that you can do just one activity at a time, and then you'd have to fall in line again to do the next, even if you're thisclose to the next activity. (For example, they'll harness you up and you climb the wall. When you reach the top, you cannot go straight to Free Fall. You have to go back down, wherein they will remove the harness, and you'll fall in line again, and when it's your turn they'll harness you up again, then you go up the tower via stairs, then can you jump down. Like crazy.)

Wall Climbing

We are very proud of our brother Tim for reaching the top of the wall effortlessly!

Avatar One

Everyone wants to try this roller coaster zip-line! This ride was done in just a few minutes (or seconds, I wasn't counting), but it was so fun!

Aerial Walk

My favorite attraction from Sandbox would be this. Aerial Walk is a high rope adventure and obstacle course that will test your strength and stamina!

This was just the start. You'll have to pass through ropes and shaky bamboo poles like Dani did.

And climb stairs with gaps to reach the higher posts, just like Linx here. (I'm already scared of MMDA Footbridges with gaps on each step, but I like these steps in Aerial Walk better since I'm tied to a harness.)

Then zip-line yourself (!) like Elmore and Char did here. Zip-lining yourself is a very nerve wracking processes! You hook your harness on the wire cables by yourself, sit on the edge of the small "ladder" then jump off. It took a lot of willpower to convince myself to jump off, but it was so fun. On my second zip-line, I hooked my harness on the higher wire by mistake, so when I reached the second post, I couldn't unhook my harness! :o Thank God my friend Chris was there to save the day, or else the guard/kuya would have to climb up the post and do it for me. Haha!

After the zip-line, when you reach towards the end of the obstacle course you'll pass through a rope web like Benny did and rock climb like Mr. Stranger! These are just a few of the activities in the Aerial Walk. Average time to finish this challenge would be 30 minutes to 1 hour. I finished mine in 45 minutes, maybe next time I'll cut that to half (like my friend Neil who was done in 20 minutes!).

As usual, a mandatory photo-op with Benny is required. You may stalk our previous taas kamay at paa shots here

Activities:
  • Park Entrance Fee: P75
  • Giant Swing: P100
  • Aerial Walk: P150
  • Free Fall: P100
  • Rappel Wall: 50
  • Wall Climbing: 50
  • Avatar One (Roller Coaster Zip-line): P150
  • Mini Golf: P150
  • ATV: P2,500/hour
  • UTV: P3,500/hour

Packages:
  • Package A (P600): Giant Swing, Aerial Walk, Free Fall, Rappel Wall, Wall Climb, Avatar One, Mini Golf, Pump Track, Entrance
  • Package B (P520): Giant Swing, Aerial Walk, Free Fall, Rappel Wall, Wall Climb, Avatar One, Pump Track, Entrance
  • Package C (P480): Giant Swing, Aerial Walk, Free Fall, Avatar One, Pump Track, Entrance
  • Package D (P370): Giant Swing, Free Fall, Avatar One, Pump Track, Entrance
  • Package E (P340): Choose 2 activity, Pump Track, Park Entrance

When we went, I wasn't sure if the 5,000 sqm course of Pump Track (for bikers) was already available. We didn't bother with the Mini Golf since it wasn't so adventurous, and the weather was too hot. We also didn't mind the ATV and UTV since rental rates were too pricey.

Things to Bring:
  • Extra shirt
  • Cap/shades/umbrella
  • Rubber shoes (or any non-slip closed shoes)
  • Sunblock - lots of it!
  • Water

They also sell food (like burgers) and drinks (like shakes and juices) for about P50 each, which is pretty reasonable.

Complete Attendance:
Linx, Cindy, Raymond, Jat, Chris, Gilly, Tim, Gen, Aldric, Alandale, Jerome, Benny, Merwin, Char, Helen, Neil, Kimber, Kath, Elmore, Dani, Jen, and Jeff
Until our next trip! :D

We definitely had a lot of fun at Sandbox, but they still have a lot to improve on. Perhaps a roof to shelter us from the sun (and rain) would be better for business. Plus more attractions to make the most of the vast land at Alviera.

Sandbox is open from Tuesday to Sunday at 9:00AM to 5:00PM. My tip for you is to arrive before 9:00AM since you'll have to register for the attractions, and there's also a cutoff (for when there are too many guests). For more information, you may contact them directly at 09178733781.

This trip was brought to you by #TopeTravelandTours.

Love,
Helen
