NOTD: I Believe In Amour by Color Club

Today, I was feeling girly so I decided to paint my nails a sweet shade of baby pink! :D

Color Club Professional Nail Lacquer in I Believe In Amour

Color Club Professional Nail Lacquers have a long shelf life compared to other brands. This one will last for 30 months after first use!

Aside from the color, even the cap is cute! It has a floral print embossed on top.

I Believe In Amour is a cool-toned pale pink shade that won't make the hands look washed out or darker than it actually is. Here, I applied only 2 coats and no top coat. It has a creme finish when used alone, but I bet it would look extra pretty when you apply a glossy top coat over it.

Color Club's high-quality professional formula is vegan and free from formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP. You can get them at P300.00 a pop in Get Polished! Nail Spa.

NOTD: Color Club in Warhol & Femme Fatale

While others are busy with merienda during afternoon breaks, my officemate and I decided to go the kikay route and paint our nails in hot neon pink in 15 minutes! Good thing Color Club Professional Nail Lacquers dry fast.

Color Club Professional Nail Lacquer in Warhol & Femme Fatale

Warhol is a hot neon pink shade that dries to a semi-matte finish, while Femme Fatale is a clear polish with soft pink shimmers.

When Worn: Color Club in Warhol

Color Club Warhol + Femme Fatale

While I wished that Warhol could be a bit shinier, I absolutely loved the color. The color is hard to describe - sometimes it looks bright pink, hot pink, or even reddish pink! For a glossier finish, just add a top coat as I did!

Femme Fatale, on the other hand, is clear with beautiful hints of soft pink. It's shimmery but not that visible when wore alone. Hence, I used it to top off my pink nails. It adds dimension to the entire look with its fine shimmer, and it looks so lovely especially under sunlight.

When Worn: Color Club in Warhol + Femme Fatale
(Under sunlight)

I used 2 coats of Warhol and added a single layer of Femme Fatale (as top coat) for a shimmery finish. Color Club's high-quality professional formula is vegan and free from formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP. You can get them at P300.00 a pop in Get Polished! Nail Spa.

What nail polish are you wearing today? :)

Helen

Spa Mani & Pedi at Get Polished!

There's always a first time for everything. I am actually one of those who are squeamish about having others touch my nails. All the horror stories I've heard about manicures and pedicures gone wrong were enough to keep me from even wanting to try it out for myself. Then, on my first trip to Get Polished! Nail Spa in Timog where I had just my legs waxed, I saw how nice my friend's pedicure was. No bloody or achy toes, just perfectly polished toes! Opportunity presented itself when Rachel, the owner of Get Polished!, invited me over to avail the GP Spa Mani and Spa Pedi.

I went back to Get Polished! in Timog on a Tuesday morning, where I had the place all to myself. (This nail spa is packed during weekends!) Rows of soft mint green couches promised good pampering and relaxation, but I was automatically lured to their colorful nail polish wall.

Get Polished! has an extensive range of colors from imported nail polish brands such as Color Club, Zoya, OPI, China Glaze, and Essie! It was so hard to choose, so I asked help from one of their friendly attendants, Marjorie. She picked out a nice cherry red shade from China Glaze for me because I asked for a shade that would fit my skintone and make my hands and feet look fairer.

Get Polished! Peach & Ginseng Salt Scrub
China Glaze Nail Lacquer in Sneaker Head

Since I was going to try their Spa Mani and Spa Pedi, I had to choose a salt scrub from their six different fruity variants. I picked Peach & Ginseng because it smelled so good (and because it's pink).

One noteworthy thing I noticed is that this nail spa gives high regards for hygiene and safety. Not only is the place clean, but they also use this sterilizer for their tools.

I was going to try the GP Spa Mani (P275.00) and GP Spa Pedi (P350.00). These services include a luxurious soak, exfoliation using aromatic salt scrub, and choice of imported polish.

Hand Soak

Foot Soak

I had the hand and foot soak before they started to scrub my hands and feet. (No pictures because my hands had salt scrub on them.) I loved the scent of the Peach & Ginseng scrub. I'm a fan of sweet and fruity scents, and this one is very pleasing to the senses. They scrubbed my hands, arms, and lower legs, and filed my feet. It was my first time to have my feet filed. I was actually scared with the file, especially when I saw dead skin falling of! I felt a slight sting while filing, but I let it be. I should have mentioned it, as a spot near my left pinky toe got a small blister from too much filing. They put medicine on it right after. (It's almost healed now, in less than a week.) The result of the scrub? Softer, smoother, and fairer hands and feet!

After that, my nails were trimmed short and square (just the way I like it). I particularly asked for them not to cut my cuticles, but some dry parts had to be removed using a nipper for the polish to look even. The attendants of Get Polished! made applying nail polish look so easy. I wish I could also do perfect nail polish at home.

Another thing I liked about this nail spa is that they have a hand/foot dryer! You basically place your hands/feet on it and it dries your nail polish in a few minutes.

Now for the big reveal on how my first mani/pedi went! This shade I had on my fingers and toes was Sneaker Head from China Glaze.

I loved the result and how the red complemented my pale skin. It's perfect! Because of Get Polished!, I'm not scared of getting my nails done anymore. (But I won't be getting any foot file next time, just polish!) It's amazing how red nails (or just beautifully groomed nails) instantly ups your confidence and makes you feel like a lady all over.

Get Polished will sponsor a giveaway here on my blog - with Color Club and Zoya goodies up for grabs! Watch out for that on November (in short, in just a few days!). For now, please like Get Polished! Nail Spa on Facebook. :)

Helen

Get Polished! Nail Spa in Timog

I always go the DIY route when it comes to primping and pampering, but it's always nice to let the pros handle your nail and hair concerns every once in a while! My friends and I wanted some girl-bonding and pampering session, so we went to Get Polished! Nail Spa in Timog.

I actually have a confession to make - I have never had my nails done by anyone except for myself. I'm not even really fond of applying nail polish, though I find the colors really pretty, especially red! I'm more vain however when it comes to hair - I want every strand of unwanted hair zapped off my body, so my main purpose of going to Get Polished was to get my legs waxed, while my friends had a foot spa and pedicure.

Upon entering Get Polished!, we were greeted with these colorful bottles of all imported nail polish from brands such as China Glaze, Essie, OPI, Zoya, Color Club, etc! Believe me, they had a hard time choosing what shade to get. Everything is just gorgeous!

They also go gel manicures - these stay on vibrant and chip-free for up to 2 weeks!

Get Polished! also carries their own aromatic salt scrubs in different fruity variants, perfect for their hand and foot spa services.

The whole place is painted in pastel lavender walls with mint green couches that are perfect for lounging. The colors and pretty relaxing, and the place is clean and well-kept.

My friend had a Foot Spa (P250.00), which started out with a foot soak, then cleaning, buffing away of the dead skin cells, and massage. No pictures of the finished product as my friend was shy, but her feet were definitely baby soft afterwards. (Yes, I touched it. Haha!)

My other friend had a Classic Pedi (P200.00), which was composed of cleaning and buffing, ending with her choice of imported polish. She was choosing between these 3 red shades from China Glaze, which were all so pretty.

But she ended up getting a neutral shade, which looked equally nice and clean.

The shade used here was OPI Nail Lacquer in Barefoot in Barcelona.

Finally, it was my turn! This Half Leg Wax (P350.00) session was long overdue, but it's okay since I don't really have bushy legs to begin with. I just wanted it to look smoother and silkier!

I wasn't able to take a picture of it, but Get Polished! had a semi-private cubicle with one waxing bed. While I was okay with that since I was just going for a leg wax, I can't imagine someone getting a Bikini/Brazilian/Spinx wax there, because the people on the couches could hear if you say "ouch" or anything else. I prefer more private places for those kinds of treatments.

First step was prepping my skin with these. I think that the hand sanitizer was for the waxing therapist, while the pre-base gel was used on my skin prior to waxing.

Get Polished! had different types of waxes, but the one they used on me was the Starpil one.

This was plugged so that the wax was heated. Once the wax reached the desired warm temperature texture, the applicator was rolled on my legs, section by section.

Then a piece of cloth was placed over the wax, then pulled away from my skin. Off comes the hair and dead skin cells. It wasn't painful in any way. In fact, it felt ticklish. Maybe I just have high tolerance for pain.

Look at the difference of my skintone below with the waxed and unwaxed part. The unwaxed part looked grayish, even if I scrubbed it the day before. The waxed part exposed a fresh layer of skin without hair. Amazing!

After all the wax has been removed, they applied a soothing cream on my skin to moisturize and protect it. I was advised to not wet the freshly waxed skin for 24 hours, and scrub it after about 3 days so I won't get ingrown hair.

The result: silky smooth and shiny legs! I love how my skin felt and looked like after the wax. Because it's hair free and exfoliated, it appears lighter and brighter. And when moisturized, it's so shiny that it can reflect light. Haha! I could get addicted to this, since I wear a skirt to work almost everyday.

I've had this waxing done 2 weeks ago, and I've gotten zero irritations from it. So far, I can see tiny hairs sprouting, but it's no biggie since they're hardly noticeable. I can always go back to Get Polished! for my waxing needs.

Here's a list of their services, in case you'd like to try them out!

My friends and I were satisfied with the services we availed. I think they'll try out waxing too the next time around!
